Chapter 53, Waiting (1/2)

After registering behind the people in front, Tang Huan and Xing Cui stood by and waited.

Military comrades came out one after another, and most of them took their families to their resettlement places first.

Gradually, only Tang Huan and Xing Cui were left waiting.

Xing Cui was a little anxious, her eyes fixed on the direction where the soldiers came out. Why hadn't her eldest son come out yet?

Did something really happen?

Tang Huan held her mother-in-law's hand, which was trembling a little. She reassured her: "Mom, maybe my brother is a little far away."

"Yes, it may be a bit far." Xing Cui also comforted herself in this way, but she became more and more impatient.

Two more men in military uniforms came out of the door. Xing Cui looked at them expectantly, but was left with disappointment.

Her son was not among those two people.

Waiting like this is not a solution. Tang Huan plans to ask the comrade in charge of registration what is going on.

Unexpectedly, two military comrades who came out of the gate stopped in front of the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law. One of them asked them enthusiastically, "Comrades, you are the family members of Captain Meng Zeyan, right?"

Xing Cui was a little excited because she must know something. "Yes, we are his family. Comrade, do you know where he is?"

The two soldiers stood at attention at the same time and saluted Xing Cui. The comrade who had spoken earlier spoke again, "Hello, we are soldiers under Commander Meng. He is not in the army now. We have contacted him, and he asked us to take you to his residence first."

"You just contacted him. Didn't he say when he would be back?" Xing Cui felt relieved. As long as Meng Zeyan was fine, it would be fine.

The two shook their heads again, "The captain didn't say, but based on past estimates, it will only happen in the next few days."

It seemed that she was making a fuss out of nothing. Xing Cui had experienced the pain of losing a child, so she couldn't help but pay more attention to Meng Zeyan.

Picking up the things at her feet, she smiled and said to them, "We won't go in now that we know he's safe. Please hand these things over to him."

"That won't work, auntie. The captain told you to wait for him here. If you leave, he won't let us go when he comes back." Neither of them dared to reach out to take it. The captain said that they must take the person to his residence.

Before coming, Xing Cui had no intention of staying. She planned to come in the morning and return in the afternoon, just to see each other once.

Although I can't see him now, it's okay as long as I know he is a good person.

Xing Cui handed something to the two of them again, "It's okay, I told him I was leaving, he knows Xiao Huan has to go to school tomorrow~"

The two comrades took a step back at the same time. The talkative soldier said in embarrassment: "Auntie, the regimental commander is our leader. His words are orders. If he says to take you to his residence, then we have to carry you there even if we have to."

These two kids are so stubborn! Xing Cui is really afraid of being carried away by them. She can't afford to lose face at her age!

She turned to look at Tang Huan, "Xiao Huan, are we going or not?"

Tang Huan looked at her mother-in-law, then at the two soldiers who seemed to be really ready to carry the man, "Mom, let's wait for Brother!"

She was also afraid of being carried away.

Xing Cui happened to think the same thing. "Comrade, let's go to your leader's residence and wait."

She felt that she was not visiting relatives now, but was being arrested for breaking the law.

Seeing they agreed, one comrade took the bag from Xing Cui, and another comrade helped Tang Huan lift the bag at her feet. "It's not far, we'll take you there."
