"Qin Ying!"
Fu Hanzhou rushed forward in two steps, his bony hands gripping Wei Zhuolan's shoulders like iron pliers, almost knocking him to the ground.
Wei Zhuolan stumbled and bumped into the mottled wall, but still had a provocative smile on his face.
When Qin Ying was suddenly pulled into the warm embrace, her back hit Fu Hanzhou's hard chest, and she could hear the sound of his heartbeat like a drum in his chest.
His chin rested against the top of her head, and the arms around her waist tightened like a chain, with suffocating force.
"Is this what you call discussing work?" A sneer escaped Fu Hanzhou's throat, and every word he uttered seemed to be wrapped in frost.
He stared at Wei Zhuolan intently, his gaze like poisoned arrows:
"So you're planning to elope?"
The sweat from his palms soaked Qin Ying's thin clothes, and the sweet scent of soapberries in her hair mixed with the pine scent on Wei Zhuolan's body stung his eyes and made them hurt - that was the scent of another man, lingering on the person who should have belonged to him.
Wei Zhuolan slowly straightened the collar of his shirt that had been wrinkled by Fu Hanzhou, his leather shoes tapping rhythmically on the ground, making an irritating sound:
"Captain Fu, I was just discussing academic matters with Qin Ying."
He deliberately dragged out the last word, his eyes greedily sweeping over Qin Ying's pale face:
"With Qin Ying's talent, it would be a shame if she didn't strive to study abroad!"
"One place to go abroad won't change anything."
Fu Hanzhou suddenly tightened his arms, almost rubbing Qin Ying into his bones:
"Wei Zhuolan, put away your wishful thinking."
As his Adam's apple rolled, he heard his own hoarse voice, trembling in a way that he himself didn't even notice.
Wei Zhuolan suddenly approached, with a crazy smile in his eyes:
"Wishful thinking? Captain Fu, while you were watching the show in the audience, your wife was almost covered in posters by her own brother!"
He deliberately lowered his voice, and each word was as sharp as a knife:
"If I hadn't kicked open that door, she would have been trembling all over and nearly had a mental breakdown, but she was still worried about not delaying the military performance..."
Qin Ying dug her nails deep into her palms, and the nightmare scene from not long ago appeared before her eyes.
Qin Qinghua's ferocious face overlapped with Fu Hanzhou's shocked expression. His throat seemed to be pinched by an invisible hand, and even breathing became difficult.
“That’s enough!”
She suddenly interrupted, her voice so hoarse that it was unfamiliar even to herself.
Fu Hanzhou suddenly lowered his head to look at the person in his arms, his pupils contracting violently.
Qin Ying lowered her head, her eyelashes casting fine shadows under her eyes, but they could not hide her watery eyes.
"Qin Ying..."
His voice suddenly became hoarse and his arms trembled slightly, as if only now he saw how many scars the person in his arms had.
The injuries that he should have protected her from, the fears that she had to endure alone, now turned into sharp blades, cutting into his heart bit by bit.
Her performance tonight was amazing. No matter how she did it, she must have overcome a lot of fear to appear calm in front of everyone.
Wei Zhuolan had a twisted smile of victory on his face, and growled almost crazily:
"You can't give her stability, let alone the opportunity to realize her dreams! Why should she follow you?"
"Wei Zhuolan, don't be so arrogant!"
Fu Hanzhou ripped open the two military buttons, revealing his tense neck, with veins throbbing with his furious heartbeat.
"Even if Wei Zhongchao is behind you, don't even think about snatching her away from me."
Fu Hanzhou took a step forward, staring at him with eyes as cold as frosty knives.
Just then, the sound of students talking and laughing came from the other end of the corridor.
Qin Ying frantically grabbed Fu Hanzhou's sleeve, her fingertips trembling slightly:
"Calm down! I...I know you're jealous and suspicious..."
She looked up at his red eyes, bitterness rising in her throat:
"I also know that there are many things you don't understand, and I don't want to explain them to you for the time being..."
Fu Hanzhou lowered his eyes and looked at her, his Adam's apple rolling violently, and a complex emotion flashed in his eyes. In just a moment, he was affected by Qin Ying's next words:
"I did waver because of the opportunity to go abroad, but I don't want you to misunderstand..."
She suddenly choked and tried hard to keep herself calm:
"Misunderstand me...I'm not that kind of person!"
"Misunderstand?"
Fu Hanzhou suddenly shook off her hand and took a half step back, his eyes filled with pain and anger:
"I saw it with my own eyes, how could it be fake? Are you so eager to go with him? I saw your hesitation just now. You knew he had bad intentions, but you were still with him in private. You were still unclear after the performance. The way you stood with him, do you think I'm blind?"
His voice became higher and higher, and the last few words were almost squeezed out from between his teeth, with deep despair.
Qin Ying's eyes were red, and she felt aggrieved.
"You only believe what you see. Do you really distrust me? I've been explaining everything, but are you listening?"
"I don't trust you?"
Fu Hanzhou suddenly approached, his breath spraying on her face:
"What about you? You really don't have any feelings for him at all? Just a few words from him and a place to study abroad have you wavered? What do you think of our relationship?"
"It's not what you think..."
Qin Ying bit her lip, tears welling up in her eyes:
"I didn't want to go with him, I just... I just hesitated..."
"hesitate?"
Fu Hanzhou frowned, with sorrow in his eyes, staring at her closely, his momentum was aggressive:
"What are you still quibbling about? Isn't your hesitation enough to explain the problem?"
Qin Ying opened her mouth but was speechless. Fu Hanzhou saw and heard everything. No matter how she explained, it was all pale and powerless.
