Chapter 18 Forcing someone to agree might not win them over; they might even make them resentful.

Luo Huayi didn't expect Xin Que to proactively remind her of the danger of the wall shrinking and squeezing.

He felt that Xin Que was...quite complicated.

"Zhou Zichuan isn't here?" Luo Huayi breathed a sigh of relief when she didn't find Zhou Zichuan in the secret room.

Xin Que fell silent once again.

Without deliberately looking at the corner where Xin Que was, Luo Huayi would almost think that there was no one there. When he saw Xin Que quiet down, he subconsciously glanced at her a few more times.

Xin Que had just finished the so-called punishment measures in the storyline.

Not only could Luo Huayi not die, but he himself could not stand by and watch him die.

Does she have to protect him on her own initiative?

Xin Que stood in the shadows and stretched her wrists.

The plot hints in her ear said she would be punished with electric shocks, but in reality... Xin Que only felt a slight numbness.

She wouldn't be so naive as to think she'd be lucky enough to snag something unexpected.

Xin Que then thought of the memories she had lost before she traveled through time.

Who exactly is she? Why did she transmigrate here? What is the true nature of this torture-filled world that resembles a prison?

"What's wrong with you?" Luo Huayi glanced at her again and asked.

Xin Que's thoughts were interrupted by Luo Huayi's voice, and she looked at the man sitting back in the chair.

Should she tell Luo Huayi that Zhou Zichuan was stabbed on this very chair?

"Let's chat?" Luo Huayi showed some sincerity by kicking aside the longsword at his feet, indicating that he had no intention of continuing the fight. "We're all trapped here now, and there's no point in us fighting one-on-one with our own agendas."

"Let's think together about how to get out of here."

Xin Que raised her hand and tore off the fake scar that was dangling under her chin, crumpled it up, and threw it aside.

Luo Huayi “…”

Every word he uttered fell to the ground like a pile of garbage.

No one answered.

Xin Que fully embodied the principle of being extremely sparing with words.

"Can't you say a few words?" Luo Huayi rested her arms on the back of the chair, and when she moved her waist, the chair wobbled.

Xin Que had a headache from his constant noise.

Shouldn't all male protagonists in angst-filled novels be mute? Why is he so talkative?

Looking at the passageway outside the door, the walls had been completely compressed together, blocking the entrance to the secret room completely.

Undeterred, Xin Que turned the secret chamber upside down once again.

Still, nothing was gained.

Luo Huayi turned on her phone countless times, but it was always out of service.

He put away his phone and looked at Xin Que again, "Why do I feel that today's situation is so similar to the time I was drugged at the hotel?"

Xin Que temporarily gave up struggling, "It's pretty much the same, it's all just a trick of the plot."

When these words reached Luo Huayi's ears, it was as if the two words were blurred by a strange electrical sound: "It's all xx's doing."

"What?" Luo Huayi didn't hear clearly. "Who did it?"

Xin Que did not reply.

The information the characters hear has been processed by the rules, so they cannot understand the information they output.

"Are you a human or some kind of ghost or god?" Luo Huayi couldn't get out, so she could only try to distract herself by chatting.

Xin Que finally realized that Luo Huayi's talkativeness seemed to be a deliberate attempt to avoid something.

"You wouldn't be..." Xin Que looked at Luo Huayi with a puzzled expression, "claustrophobia?"

Luo Huayi avoided Xin Que's gaze, her half-closed eyelashes fluttering slightly. When she heard Xin Que add those four words, she decisively said, "No."

The denial was particularly cold.

Xin Que nodded. "Then there is."

Luo Huayi “…”

Just when he thought Xin Que was about to press him for answers or make sarcastic remarks, Xin Que shut her mouth again.

Luo Huayi stared at the intricate patterns on the floor tiles in front of her, feeling increasingly stifled by the quiet atmosphere.

"Do you have some other special ability? Like attracting unclean things..." Luo Huayi started talking to herself again, forcing herself to take her attention away from this small, square space.

Let's think of something else.

Xin Que was so annoyed by the noise from the plot prompts that she wanted to blast open the dilapidated secret room with a single shot.

The plot twists relentlessly, forcing the two into a secret room, all to make her fall in love with Luo Huayi.

She glanced at the man who thought he had concealed the truth well, but in her eyes he was just a broken record trying to stay calm, and her lips twitched.

How blind must she be to fall for Luo Huayi?

The dim white light from the crystal chandelier filled the small, square room.

The man sat sideways near her, the palatial chair beneath him, paired with his black shirt and gray suit, actually making him look quite handsome.

It must be said that Luo Huayi has a great figure, with broad shoulders, a narrow waist, and long legs. The lines outlined by the suit are truly outstanding.

Xin Que completely failed to see Luo Huayi's physical advantages; after sizing him up, she frowned instead.

With such great natural abilities, how come his fighting and swordsmanship are so bad?

It's simply...a waste of resources.

His gaze fell especially on the barely visible beads of sweat on Luo Huayi's forehead and his increasingly uneasy hand resting on his knee.

Xin Que couldn't bear to look.

Despite having such an obvious weakness as claustrophobia, he wasn't nipped in the bud by his competitors; instead, he was allowed to grow into the top CEO of the family business...

The plot might as well just plaster the words "letting things slide" all over Luo Huayi's forehead.

Luo Huayi rocked the chair more and more violently.

His anxiety grew stronger.

He was completely unaware that Xin Que had rejected him from beginning to end, his eyes fixed on the narrow door of the secret room, wondering when he could finally get out of there.

Luo Huayi withdrew her gaze and looked at Xin Que once more.

“Xin Que,” Luo Huayi’s voice seemed to have gained a bit more force, “I suddenly thought of something.”

Xin Que didn't move at all.

"Since you were able to manipulate these families so easily, then you were also the one who killed the murderer who died mysteriously in the hospital?"

Xin Que remained noncommittal.

Now that his identity has been exposed, it's understandable that he would connect the death of the murderer at the hospital with her.

Luo Huayi recalled Xin Que's self-defense method of getting the murderer directly into the intensive care unit, which further confirmed her suspicions.

"What, are you planning to go out and report me?" Xin Que remained calm and showed no panic at being exposed.

Luo Huayi was taken aback.

Xin Que's mental fortitude was so strong that not a single flaw could be detected.

"Don't worry, I don't like meddling in other people's business." Luo Huayi glanced at the Tang sword in Xin Que's hand. No matter what she thought in her heart, she would never put herself in danger.

He wasn't stupid enough to confront someone who was suspected of being an assassin.

There's no benefit in provoking her.

Xin Que gave a cryptic laugh, "Quite pragmatic."
