Chapter 251 Killing Intent Revealed
Feng Caijun opened the car door for Huo Fenglin.
Not far outside the car were the ruins of the Huo family's old mansion, which had been sealed off.
Upon seeing yet another celebrity appear at the scene, the media, disregarding the police's attempts to stop them, instinctively pointed their cameras at the man slowly getting out of the car.
But that's all there is to it.
Huo Fenglin didn't even glance at the noisy crowd outside the cordon, and headed straight for the old house under the guidance of the armed personnel.
One hour and 14 minutes had passed since the two sides exchanged information.
Xin Que did not send back any reply.
"Huo Fenglin".
The man and woman facing each other on the left and right gradually came into Huo Fenglin's view.
They are his uncle and aunt.
"You'd better explain the matter of the patriarch's order properly."
The middle-aged man was the first to speak.
Huo Fenglin stopped and allowed armed men in two different uniforms to surround him.
The man's face did not show any panic at the impending doom.
“Uncle,” he greeted the man calmly, “what brings you here?”
Huo Fenglin seemed quite surprised by his appearance.
The middle-aged man's expression instantly turned gloomy.
"Huo Fenglin," the noblewoman beside him said coldly, "you've got some nerve, trying to instigate us to fight amongst ourselves?"
Do you think we're all fools you can manipulate at will?
Huo Fenglin's gaze lingered between the man and the woman.
It seems that the two had already exchanged information during their standoff, and now that they realized Huo Fenglin was manipulating the situation behind the scenes, they immediately turned their attention to him.
The two men's gloomy gazes were already fixed on Huo Fenglin.
"Huo Fenglin," the noblewoman said coldly, "do you need me to have my men help you recall the position of the family head's token?"
Huo Fenglin caught a glimpse of armed personnel loading their rifles, and immediately raised his hands in surrender, shouting, "It's in the secret room!"
The middle-aged man and the noblewoman exchanged a glance, then looked at Huo Fenglin, "My brother's secret study room?"
A look of doubt appeared on their faces simultaneously, and then the armed men who had surrounded Huo Fenglin took another step forward.
“You’re still playing these cheap tricks on us,” the noblewoman said with a sharp gaze, as if she could see right through Huo Fenglin. “My brother’s study and secret room have already been thoroughly searched by our people, but there’s no trace of the patriarch’s order at all.”
Huo Fenglin took a deep breath. "It's not Father's secret room."
"I have a basement near the storage room in the lobby on the first floor, which only I know about."
The noblewoman gestured with her chin toward her confidante.
The confidant understood immediately and led Huo Fenglin away from the ruins that had not yet completely collapsed.
"You lead the way," the noblewoman said in a gloomy voice, "If I find out you still dare to play tricks..."
“I don’t need a nephew like you.”
The people brought by the middle-aged man were blocked by the noblewoman's people, but their minds began to wander.
His connections weren't as strong as his older sister's in the military, making it difficult for him to gain the upper hand in this struggle for the family headship.
If what Huo Fenglin said is true, then the patriarch's token really is in that basement.
Wouldn't the eldest sister, who holds the dominant position, really be able to take the head of the family?
He watched the group disappear into the entrance of the ruins, his gaze gradually turning sinister.
After glancing around at the armed men guarding the entrance with rifles, the middle-aged man whispered something to his assistant.
The special assistant quickly contacted the police department to request additional manpower.
Since they've already turned hostile towards each other in their struggle for the position of family head, there's no need to care about empty titles anymore.
Next, it all comes down to whose gun has a larger caliber.
[Our reporter spotted Mr. Huo Fenglin, the heir, outside the Huo family's old residence...]
The gathering of these prominent figures from the Huo family at their old residence raises the question: does this signify that the succession struggle within the Huo family is about to be settled?
Outside the cordon, under the barrage of cameras and microphones, media outlets cultivated by various factions rushed to report firsthand news from the Huo family's old residence.
The sky is clouded over.
The sounds of reporters, cameras, and sirens mingled together, creating a distorted sense of prosperity in what was once an incredibly luxurious but now dilapidated mansion ruin.
It's incredibly ironic.
"Get out of the way," a thin man in a suit and overcoat said, showing his identification. His eyes and brows exuded an undeniable menacing aura. "People from the Huo Group headquarters."
Cheng Zheng stood expressionless beside the man.
Upon seeing the man's identification, the bodyguards guarding the entrance to the old manor dared not act on their own and immediately contacted their superiors.
"What? People from headquarters have arrived?"
"Could it be that the disturbance at the old house was too obvious, alarming those old folks..."
A look of suspicion and guilt flashed across the middle-aged man's face, but a moment later, he was secretly delighted.
Just when they were worried that no one would restrain the eldest sister who had gone to the basement to search for the head of the household, they found her.
"Invite them in," the middle-aged man said quickly in a low voice. "Also, have the Public Security Bureau send as many people as possible to help us seize power."
The two walked steadily toward the middle-aged man.
"You are..." Before he could finish speaking, the leading man continued walking, lifted his coat, and pulled out a pistol from inside.
"Bang."
"Bang."
He only had time to make out the shape of the gun muzzle before his eyes widened, and he fell backward to the ground with bullet holes between his eyebrows and in his heart.
Completely stopped breathing.
A moment of panic ensued, and countless gun barrels were quickly pointed at Xin Que, pulling the triggers.
Cheng Zheng had already detonated the smoke grenade the same time Xin Que fired her gun.
"Level One Combat Readiness!!!"
"There's an assassin!!!"
Xin Que had already pressed the muzzle of her gun directly against the forehead of the bodyguard blocking her way, and she swiftly and decisively pulled the trigger.
Upon hearing the gunshots, the armed personnel guarding the entrance to the ruins reacted immediately, quickly raising their rifles to search for the enemy.
"Smack."
The bomb landed on the floor in front of the group, and almost as they lay down to avoid the explosion, the enormous impact, along with countless sharp shrapnel fragments, swept across the entire entrance.
"It is estimated that 239 people will be brought here."
Cheng Zheng turned his gaze back and quickly followed Xin Que's steps.
Xin Que was extremely familiar with this place.
After regaining her memories, she repeatedly recreated the appearance of the Huo family's old mansion in her mind.
Everything is for today.
"Your methods of killing... You're also from the Huo family..." In the ruins, the assassin who unexpectedly spotted her figure quickly drew his gun from his waist and shot Xin Que in the abdomen at the most convenient height.
"Bang!"
"Bang bang bang!"
Both sides fired their guns simultaneously.
"Damn it!" the assassin cursed, and quickly turned around and went downstairs to report the news just as Xin Que was changing magazines.
The other side was fully equipped; ordinary bullets couldn't penetrate their bulletproof vests at all.
"Let's split up and act separately."
Xin Que gave the order in a cold voice.
Cheng Zheng glanced at her, "Your body..."
“The medication is still effective,” Xin Que said quickly. “In ten minutes, no matter how chaotic the situation becomes, we will meet at the place we agreed upon in advance.”
Without further hesitation, Cheng Zheng turned around and went in the opposite direction from Xin Que.
