Chapter 57 Heading to the Capital

Factory Director Li, having failed to obtain the medicine, had no choice but to give up and look for another opportunity.

Then he remembered his purpose in finding Xu Qingqing, so he began to vent all the pent-up frustrations he had suffered in the past, like a tomb raider.

While speaking, she wiped away imaginary tears and complained, "Let me tell you, Hai Fugui, that spineless bastard, loves to show off. Every time he goes to the capital for exchanges, he raves about how great his factory's outstanding employees are."

Last time, thanks to you and Bogong, I didn't have to face that show-off.

This time, I've decided to send you to the capital for exchanges. Don't you dare embarrass our steel mill.

After listening, Xu Qingqing remained silent, just staring at Director Li, and the atmosphere suddenly became quiet.

Factory Director Li chuckled: "Well, this was also identified by Secretary Lin. I was just responsible for relaying the message. If you want to blame someone, go find Secretary Lin."

Factory Director Li tried his best to distance himself from the situation and shift the blame onto Secretary Lin.

Xu Qingqing saw through Director Li's little scheme and crossed her arms, saying, "Director Li, have you forgotten our three rules? It's clearly written on the note that you can't ask me to do anything outside of work."

Factory Director Li said with a bitter face, "Of course I know about this agreement, but the list has already been submitted, so even if you don't want to go, you can't."

Xu Qingqing ground her back teeth, her hands itching to hit someone: "Did you guys plan this day all along?"

Factory Director Li felt guilty, his eyes darting around, and explained to Xu Qingqing, "How could that be? Secretary Lin and I just wanted to recruit you into the steel plant, but this was an accident!"

Xu Qingqing didn't believe his explanation. She snorted and turned to leave. At worst, she would quit her job and go back to work at the dam production team.

Once is never enough; she doesn't believe that Director Li and his associates will scheme against her again.

“I hate people who don’t keep their word, Director Li. If you don’t give me a proper reason, you know what I can do.”

After saying that, he brandished his little fist and gestured at Director Li's face.

Factory Director Li quickly took a few steps back, distancing himself from Xu Qingqing, and said with a forced laugh, "Comrade Xu, we're all on the same side."

Xu Qingqing rolled her eyes at him and said, "Give me a break. What sins did I commit in my past life that you guys have to trick me like this?"

"I've already said, I'm nothing. You can ask me to eat, drink, and have fun, but anything else is beyond my capabilities."

Xu Qingqing was also helpless. Ever since she made the tractor, the two of them seemed to have decided on her, and she couldn't reason with them no matter what she did.

If she really had that kind of ability, she would have been researching airplanes and cannons long ago, instead of arguing with him here.

Seeing Xu Qingqing's resolute attitude, Director Li recalled what Secretary Lin had told him and said, "You can follow Bo Gong and not do anything, just eat and drink there."

“Once the list is submitted, you have no choice but to go. Just think of it as a chance to relax.”

Xu Qingqing stared at Director Li suspiciously. Was he really that kind?

Factory Director Li certainly didn't have that kind of good intention. He thought that with Xu Qingqing's fiery temper, she would never swallow her anger like he did.

Secretary Lin has a good eye for people. Since he decided to send Xu Qingqing, he must have his reasons.

The matter was already settled, and Xu Qingqing had no choice but to accept it... or so she thought.

That night, he took his familiar tools and hid in a secluded corner, waiting for Secretary Lin to pass by.

Secretary Lin deliberately took a different route today to prevent Xu Qingqing from slinging him in a sack tonight.

Just as he reached a corner, a familiar figure appeared before him, along with a familiar, yet unmistakably familiar, burlap sack.

After a series of loud crashes, Xu Qingqing grabbed the sack and ran off.

Back in the dormitory, I packed a few changes of clothes and boarded the train to the capital.

Xu Qingqing took the train ticket given to her by Factory Director Li, went to the soft sleeper berth, looked at the number, and climbed to the top to lie down.

After several days and nights, the train finally arrived in the capital.

Stepping out of the train station, Xu Qingqing clearly felt that the capital was much more prosperous than other cities.

It was Xu Qingqing's first time riding a bus from the 1970s, and the scenery along the way gave her a unique experience.

On the road, you can see old-fashioned bicycles everywhere, as well as a very few cars, and even people riding horses and using horse-drawn carriages to transport goods.

Xu Qingqing leaned against the window, watching the passing cars with starry eyes.

It's a Hongqi car!!!

Back in the 1970s, being able to afford a Hongqi car meant not only having money, but more importantly, it represented status and prestige.

As Xu Qingqing watched the departing Hongqi car, her passion for collecting cars kicked in.

In the end, they could only sigh and go to the guesthouse to complete the registration.

The next day, Xu Qingqing looked at the address in her hand, entered the exchange conference venue, and looked for her seat.

The table was covered with the names of steel mills from all over the country. After searching for a while, Xu Qingqing finally found them in the very back corner.

Compared to the grand names of other steel mills, Xu Qingqing looked at theirs and fell silent...

Good heavens! No wonder Director Li was so reluctant to come!

Others entered the club in twos and threes and found a little girl sitting in the far corner, wondering if she had gone to the wrong place.

Hai Fugui led his men in, his first glance falling on the spot where Factory Director Li was. The next second, he frowned and walked straight to Xu Qingqing:

"Who are you? Where is that bastard Joseon?"

Xu Qingqing looked up at the person who had come. The first thing she noticed was that he was too thin, in an unhealthy way. His oversized cotton coat looked like a bamboo pole barely holding it up.

His face was so thin, it looked like a skull covered with a layer of skin, terribly thin!

Xu Qingqing replied: "Factory Director Li isn't coming, so he sent me to attend this exchange conference."

Hai Fugui laughed in anger upon hearing this: "That bastard Li Chao actually sent a little girl like you over here, is he afraid of being embarrassed?"

Seeing that the visitor had such a problem with Factory Director Li, Xu Qingqing recalled what Factory Director Li had said about the "rib spirit" and suddenly realized:

"So you're the skinny guy Hai Fugui that Director Li was talking about!"

Others: "!!!"

That guy from the Joseon Dynasty really dares to say things like that!

Looking at Hai Fugui's furious expression, he was no longer surprised by the scenes of their rivalry over the years.

I don't know when it started, but the two who used to have a good relationship now dislike each other.

Hai Fugui was so angry when he heard that bastard Li Chao calling him a skinny guy behind his back that he jumped up and down with a string of curses:

"Bullshit! If he's got the guts, let him come here and say it to my face. I'll beat that bastard Li Chao to death!"

Xu Qingqing: "Are you sure? With your build, even Factory Director Li could crush you!"

Hai Fugui's expression froze instantly, and the others turned away and chuckled.

This little girl is speaking such obvious truths!
