The reason Gu Chen gave was that he always felt like he had lost him for a long time and wanted to make it up to him.
Song Yan thought Gu Chen was just trying to make up a lame excuse and didn't take what Gu Chen said seriously. After all, they had only been separated for one day, and he was caught by Gu Chen.
