Bai Li sat to the side, watching the atmosphere between the brother and sister, and couldn't help but feel a little envious.
The princess is so lucky; she not only has the prince's favor but also the love of her family.
There is probably no one in the world happier than her.
"Second brother, you should eat too." Wen Nongnong poked some meat with a twig and fed it to Wen Tingyun.
Wen Tingyun didn't stand on ceremony and shared the food with her.
Before long, the rabbit meat roasted by Bai Li was also cooked.
"Your Highness, please try my cooking." Bai Li was very thoughtful and specially peeled the rabbit meat and presented it to Wen Nong Nong.
Wen Nongnong was already full, but she still graciously tried a few slices and said, "The taste is very good, the cooking time is just right, and the meat is not dry at all. But I can't eat anymore, you eat it yourself and make sure you're full."
"Okay." Bai Li nodded obediently and sat down to eat.
It was already afternoon, and the sun was blazing, but the woods were quite cool.
Listening to the incessant chirping of cicadas, Wen Nongnong and Wen Tingyun sat side by side and soon fell asleep.
Wen Tingyun turned to look at her and saw that she had fallen asleep in just a short while, which made him both amused and exasperated.
This girl sleeps so well.
I could see that she was leaning on my shoulder, not sleeping very comfortably, so I simply held her shoulder and let her lean against my chest.
"Bai Li, you should go back first. We'll go back after Nong Nong wakes up." After sitting for a while, Wen Tingyun saw Bai Li sitting blankly to the side and said.
"Yes, Second Young Master." Upon hearing this, Bai Li did not refuse. She got up, packed her things, and went down the mountain on her own.
Wen Nongnong slept until sunset before waking up.
Wen Nongnong looked at the pine branches above her head and blinked her eyes in a daze.
Turning around and seeing Wen Tingyun, she asked in surprise, "Second Brother, how long have I been asleep?"
Wen Tingyun helped her sit up, then stood up, stretched his stiff and numb arms, and said irritably, "You made my arms numb from sleeping. How long did you sleep?"
Upon hearing this, Wen Nongnong immediately felt a little guilty. "Then why didn't you wake me up?" she said, getting up from the ground and massaging his arm.
"Alright, alright, no need to pinch anymore." Wen Tingyun awkwardly withdrew her hand.
Seeing this, Wen Nongnong didn't press the matter. She stretched and said energetically, "Second Brother, what are we having for dinner tonight?"
"What would you like to eat?" Wen Tingyun asked in return.
Wen Nongnong thought for a moment, "I want to eat spicy and sour fish."
"What kind of fish is that?" Wen Tingyun asked curiously.
Wen Nongnong said, "To thank my second brother for taking care of me, I'll cook for you myself tonight. I guarantee you'll like it."
Wen Tingyun expressed her doubts, "Is what you made even edible?"
Wen Nong Nong rolled her eyes. "Then you'll see, Second Brother."
As darkness fell, Wen Nongnong finally finished cooking the spicy and sour fish.
The air was filled with a mixture of fishy and spicy flavors, making one's mouth water.
Wen Tingyun hadn't held out much hope, but now she couldn't help but feel a little tempted.
Before Wen Nong Nong could bring the food out, he couldn't help but go into the kitchen to check on it several times.
"Nongnong, is it ready yet?"
"That's good, Second Brother, go sit outside for a while." Wen Nongnong found him in the way and turned around to push him outside.
Wen Tingyun walked out reluctantly.
Wen Nongnong was both amused and exasperated.
It seems she's not the only foodie.
Just as Wen Tingyun was about to rush into the kitchen again, Wen Nongnong's spicy and sour fish was finally ready.
At her instruction, Bai Li came out carrying a large basin.
Instantly, a domineering and rich aroma filled people's mouths and noses, making them unable to resist drooling.
Wen Tingyun didn't even bother to help Wen Nongnong up; he quickly chased after her.
After placing the spicy and sour fish in the center of the table, Bai Li quickly grabbed a bowl and chopsticks.
Looking at the large bowl of fish on the table, Wen Tingyun's mouth was already watering. Turning around and seeing Wen Nongnong come in, he immediately asked curiously, "Where did you learn to cook this fish?"
"I won't tell you." Wen Nongnong blinked mischievously, then picked up the bowl and scooped out a lot of fish slices for him. "Second brother, try it first."
Smelling the enticing aroma, Wen Tingyun didn't bother to ask any questions and quickly picked up her chopsticks to start eating.
"Bai Li, you sit down too," Wen Nong Nong said to Bai Li, who was standing to the side.
"Thank you, Your Highness." Bai Li had been with her for a while and knew her temperament, so she did not refuse politely.
The aroma of this spicy and sour fish is so tempting; Bai Li's mouth is watering just thinking about it.
The three sat around the table, enjoying their meal.
Since being diagnosed with pregnancy, Wen Nongnong has hardly eaten so freely.
Normally, she would vomit just from the smell of fishy food, but right now, she not only didn't vomit, she didn't feel nauseous at all, and instead ate it with relish.
Contrary to her usual behavior, she ate two bowls of rice in one go, filling her stomach until it was round and full, which even made Wen Tingyun look at her with some surprise.
"How long has it been since you last ate?"
Wen Nongnong herself felt a little embarrassed and put down her chopsticks, saying, "There's nothing I can do, I have morning sickness, I throw up whatever I eat."
“But I noticed that you have a very good appetite this time you came to the villa.” Wen Tingyun naturally knew about her morning sickness, but her sister’s behavior at the villa these past two days was clearly different from that at the Prince’s Mansion.
"It's all because of the Prince and my mother. They won't let me eat this or touch that. I can only eat bland food, which has made me lose my appetite," Wen Nongnong said, rubbing her stomach.
"So, this trip to the villa is exactly what you wanted?" Wen Tingyun said with a smile. "Without the Prince and Mother watching over you, you seem to have no worries at all."
But you're pregnant, is it really okay for you to eat such strongly flavored food?
"Of course you can, but you can't eat too much. Eating it a few times occasionally is fine," Wen Nongnong said. "It's just that the prince and the others are being too cautious."
“These past two days, you’ve been eating either roast meat or roast fish, and now you’re eating this spicy and sour stuff.” Wen Tingyun said, frowning. If the prince and the others found out that he had taken Nong Nong to eat something, would they skin him alive?
Thinking of this, he immediately felt that even the spicy and sour fish didn't taste good anymore.
Wen Nongnong coughed lightly, "Alright, I'll eat something lighter tomorrow. By the way, is there any news from the city?"
Wen Tingyun glanced at her and suddenly said, "Tomorrow is the auspicious day for your 'burial'."
Wen Nongnong had just taken the water glass from Bai Li and was drinking when she suddenly heard these words and spat it out with a "pfft".
Wen Tingyun turned her head to avoid it, and said irritably, "Luckily I dodged quickly, otherwise I would have been sprayed with your spittle."
Wen Nongnong put down her cup. "Who told you to speak so rudely, Second Brother?" What do you mean by an auspicious day for her burial? Honestly, that's so creepy!
