Inside the room, a man dressed in a black suit with a brown vintage overcoat sat upright in a dark red chair, his slender hands constantly flipping through official documents and typing.
The light shone on him, softening his cold and stern face. His sword-like eyebrows, bright eyes, high nose, and slightly parted thin lips gave him an air of sacred inviolability.
The man stared indifferently at the contract as he signed it. Suddenly, his hand trembled, the pen slipped from his grasp and rolled to the corner of the table, his face turned pale, and cold sweat poured from his brow.
He withdrew his hand, clutched his chest, and tried to suppress the waves of pain on his own.
"Ding..." The heavy door was slammed open, emitting a ringing alarm. Immediately afterwards, alarms sounded throughout the entire house, and in an instant, the lights came on and the place was bustling with activity.
“Young Master Yuanze, I apologize for intruding into your room. The family doctor told me that you will have an attack today.”
The butler, dressed in a black tailcoat, stood respectfully at the door, his white-gloved hands pressed tightly against his chest, bowing 90 degrees to apologize.
Xia Yuanze raised his face and said with a slight smile, "Uncle Xia, there's no need for formalities." He perfectly concealed his pain, though his face was still a little pale.
Upon hearing this, Uncle Xia raised his head, picked up the medicine box placed at his feet, and strode forward.
"Young master, the family doctor has developed a new medicine that will help your condition."
As he spoke, he took out the medicine, prepared it to be drunk, and then stepped back to the corner of the table.
Xia Yuanze smiled gratefully at the butler and finished taking the medicine without changing his expression.
The medicine took effect immediately after I took it; the pain in my heart stopped, and my anxiety disappeared.
He wanted to tell Uncle Xia that he had recovered, but the bitter taste in his mouth lingered, making it difficult for him to speak.
Uncle Xia seemed to have anticipated this. He smiled kindly and said, "Young master, this old servant has some fruit candies here." As he spoke, he quickly arranged the candies on the table.
Xia Yuanze picked up the candy and ate it one by one, finally finishing the last one with some reluctance.
He ate the candy without showing any emotion, feeling a surge of comfort in his heart, and inwardly praising Uncle Xia for doing such a good job.
After he finished eating, Uncle Xia bowed to Xia Yuanze and smiled, saying, "Now, the servants have come out. Young Master, you should go and see them."
“Young master, this old servant thinks you should go find that girl. I have already received news that I have found a suitable person.”
Xia Yuanze pursed his lips and slowly said, "Uncle Xia, don't worry, I will go find this girl myself."
"Yes, young master!"
Uncle Xia nodded, got up to button Xia Yuanze's coat, went straight outside, opened the door, and waited outside.
Stepping outside, I walked along the marble-paved corridor, where crystal chandeliers hung high, ancient patterns were carved on the walls, and the staircase was paved with shimmering gray stone. Famous paintings were pasted on the walls, but one of them was covered by a red cloth.
Upon reaching the corner of the stairs on the second floor, a brightly lit hall came into view. Servants stood in two rows, and on the huge red dining table, candles shone, but only a silver pot containing soup, a covered carved plate, and a set of shiny cutlery were placed on it.
"Greetings, Master Herbert," the servants greeted him respectfully, bowing low.
Xia Yuanze waved his hand and said seriously, "I'm sorry to have woken everyone up. I hope you can have a good dream when you go back to your rooms now."
The servants bowed again and left in a line through the side door made of Bose marble.
Xia Yuanze walked to another small maroon table, quietly washed his hands, and smelled a faint, crisp fragrance of pine and cypress in the water. After washing, he picked up a rose and put it in his pocket, then turned around and presented the rose to Uncle Xia.
"Uncle Xia, please take the remaining roses to Aunt Xuan and give her my regards."
Before I leave, please cook me one last steak.
"Yes, young master, please proceed with your meal."
He ate his air-freighted Kobe beef tenderloin by himself, without making a sound.
Looking up, one can see vibrant, glistening roses, but they bring no sign of life.
The room was too quiet; even with the bright lights and the lush greenery outside the French windows, the desolation was still palpable.
"My young master, everything will be alright. You will meet the love of your life, bringing you life and hope."
"May you have a sweet dream, God bless you."
Uncle Xia bowed to Xia Yuanze once more through the marble side door and left the restaurant.
"Ding-dong!" An uninvited man, dressed in a peacock blue suit, strode in.
Oh, my
baby
Girl, don't
cry.
“Oh, dear Master Herbert, it is my great honor.”
A man's sarcastic remarks and flashy clothes are a perfect way to break the silence.
Xia Yuanze continued eating elegantly without even looking up.
The man sniffed, ran up to him, looked at the steak, and exclaimed:
“That makes no sense. I was eating dirt in an African mine yesterday and just got back. I came to find this guy, but he’s eating top-quality food.”
"Hmph!" The man snatched the knife and fork, preparing to grab the plate, when he suddenly noticed a covered plate opposite him.
"Alright, take your time eating. I, Young Master Corinne, won't hold it against you."
The two enjoyed their meal quietly, and the lights no longer seemed so glaring.
————Separation line
An Cheng stopped lying down, got up, combed her long, shiny black hair into a Mori Girl style, changed into a red retro long dress, and put on a beige coat over it.
Then I went to the table, opened the self-service hot pot, turned on the tap, and filled it with water. I rinsed my teeth, washed my face, and let the tear stains disappear, leaving only slightly red eyes from not sleeping well.
Everything was ready. She lifted the lid of the bubbling hot pot, where there were a few slices of beef. She picked up a can of Sprite, sat down, and started eating.
