Chapter 6 The eldest child cried

But when Erwa wiped his bottom, which had always been in a lot of pain, it felt surprisingly cool and comfortable. The areas that Erwa wiped were no longer so itchy and swollen. It felt so good.

The clothes on their bodies were warm and cozy. They realized how wonderful it felt to be warm. The two kids felt like they were living in paradise. This must be the happiest moment of their lives.

Mom seems to have really gone mad today. I wish she could stay like this forever.

Yin Lan watched as the two children squinted comfortably and happily. The children were already good-looking, and with a little grooming, they would be even more pleasing to the eye. Her mood inexplicably improved.

Of course, this is on the premise that the two kids' inner thoughts are not heard.

"Go to bed now." The two children looked at each other, seemingly incredulous.

Yin Lan glared at her and obediently went upstairs.

In the past, the original owner really didn't treat her children like children. She let the two kids sleep on the ground, giving them some dirty, tattered cotton wadding, and the two kids would hug each other for warmth.

They would be beaten if they went to bed, but now, their mother was very fierce and told them to go up.

The two kids went up nervously, wondering if they were going to get a beating the next second.

Amidst their nervousness, they saw Yin Lan give them a satisfied look and even come over to tuck the blankets in.

The second child's grandmother called out "Mother" in a hoarse voice.

Yin Lan rubbed his dry hair, and just as she was about to rub Da Wa's hair, Da Wa pursed his lips and turned his head away slightly.

Yin Lan smiled and took the two of their tattered clothes and went out.

She went outside, stood in a corner where the two children couldn't see her, concentrated her energy, and the system appeared.

[Auction: Two antique-style coarse linen shirts!]

A total of 500 coins were collected!

There are even more than shoes!

The system has meat, rice, and everything else. I won't buy anything now; I'll just buy the freshest items when I need them.

Besides, she couldn't explain to the child where these things came from so late at night.

After finishing everything, Yin Lan was about to wash her feet when she heard soft sobbing coming from the room.

"Brother, what's wrong..." The naive and innocent Erwa looked at her brother, who was covering his head and crying, and didn't understand what had happened.

Chen Yiqi bit his lip hard, trying desperately to hold back his tears, but they still flowed uncontrollably.

Today he actually ate white rice and meat. Now he's lying in bed, feeling warm all over, like he's dreaming. He's never been this happy in his life. Yes, he should be happy, but for some reason, tears started flowing. First, they fell drop by drop, then they flowed like a river, and finally he was sobbing uncontrollably.

Yin Lan watched from outside, feeling extremely bitter inside.

Although everything the two children suffered in the past was not because of her, she still felt a pang of guilt for some reason.

I wonder what the original owner, who is no longer here, would feel if she saw all this.

She knew the child had suffered too much in the past and was still resistant to her, so she didn't go in immediately but waited outside for the child's emotions to subside.

I picked up the third child and put him on the inside of the bed. This child is really strange. He laughs loudly when someone plays with him, and entertains himself when no one is around. When he's hungry, he makes "hmm hmm hmm" noises, and when he needs to pee, he lets out a couple of "ee ee ee" sounds to let people know. He basically doesn't need anyone to worry about him. He's practically a chosen one.

Children used to die young, so pitiful. I wonder what such a well-behaved and beautiful child will be like when she grows up.

After putting everything away, Yin Lan also went to bed.

Chen Yiqi cried and cried until he finally fell asleep on the bed.

Even when he was asleep, he never approached Yin Lan.

Even holding his hand felt stiff.

Winters here are very cold. It's only the beginning of winter, but the wind is already blowing like razor blades. The house is drafty, but it's the first time the kids are sleeping in the bed. It's so warm that their little faces are rosy and they look even cuter. The original owner of this body was quite good-looking, but judging from how the three kids are, their father probably isn't ugly either.

Now the baby is sleeping like a little piglet, all warm and cozy. Yin Lan put one on her left and one on her right, checked and saw that it was still far away from the third baby, so it was safe. She lay down, and wow, it was even more comfortable than an electric blanket.

It seems the kid is still somewhat useful.

Nothing was said that night.

In the morning, Chen Yiqi was the first to wake up. After a moment of confusion, he sat up in fright. Only when he remembered that it was his mother who told them to go to bed did his fear subside.

When he looked down, he saw that he was at his mother's feet. He realized that something had been hitting him all night, and it turned out to be his mother's feet.

Erwa was pushed to a corner by his mother. On the big bed, his mother was lying sprawled out in a "big" shape, with drool still dripping from the corner of her mouth.

Chen Yiqi: ......

He silently got up, glanced around the house, and saw that all the rice had been eaten yesterday.

Fortunately, there was still some oil and water left in the pot. I added some water and wild vegetables to make a soup with oil and wild vegetables, which was much better than what I used to eat.

But what about the future?

The child's brows furrowed deeply, and he quickly got down to work.

Yin Lan slept very comfortably. There was no alarm clock, no 996 work schedule, no staying up late, and no noise. When she woke up, she felt refreshed and the air was so fresh.

But... looking around, the house was really too dilapidated.

The sounds outside indicated that the eldest child was already making breakfast. At only five years old, in modern times, a child would still be acting spoiled, but now she was already taking charge of the household, even more responsible than her mother.

Yin Lan woke Erwa up, and without Yin Lan teaching her, Erwa dressed herself and even took care of Sanwa, who was also a little one.

This feeling of abusing child labor is...it feels so good!

After washing up, Yin Lan told the child to wash his face and brush his teeth before leaving the house.

The child was already used to this; when it was time to eat, the mother would come back on her own.

Yin Lan wouldn't go out for a stroll like the original owner. What's there to stroll around in the dead of winter? She just went to the Zhao family's house, which was the closest to her home.

Looking around the doorway and seeing no one, Yin Lan was about to go inside when a growing argument suddenly broke out. She tried to avoid it.

"Bang!" The door was suddenly pushed open, and a man with an angry face walked out. When he saw Yin Lan, his expression worsened. He pointed at her nose and cursed, "You give the grain to this spendthrift woman who supports her family but not to me? Am I not your own son? Your wife is about to give birth, and you just stand by and watch her die. It's your own grandson who will die!"

He glared fiercely at Yin Lan.

Then Old Mrs. Zhao came out from inside, saying, "You care so much about your daughter-in-law, but why don't you lift a finger to help with the crops in the fields? You make her work in the fields while she's heavily pregnant, asking for grain today and tomorrow, but there's none! Are you trying to starve your stepmother to death?"

This man was Old Lady Zhao's eldest son. Although he was a student, he was notorious for being lazy and gluttonous. In the entire Iron Sword Village, he and Yin Lan were known as the two most notorious lazy men and women.

Yin Lan relied on her husband's allowance, while Zhao Dachuan relied on sponging off his parents.

Old Mrs. Zhao was no pushover. She angrily retorted, "The crops in the fields are getting worse every year. If you don't work, let's see what you'll do. If you come asking for grain again, I'll go and talk to the village head and see if he sides with you or speaks the truth!"
