"Then let's use two layers of cotton cloth! That way the filter will be cleaner," Lu Chuan replied.
“Okay, we’ll fold it up and put it on top. We’ll tie the rim of the jar with a rope later so the cloth won’t fall down,” Xu Han replied.
The two worked together and quickly finished preparing the cotton cloth.
After the filter cloth was prepared, the water in the pot had just dissolved.
Xu Han used a ladle to scoop out the water and then poured it into the vat. The clean water flowed directly into the vat through the cotton cloth, and the impurities were filtered onto the cotton cloth.
They kept repeating this process, and after the water in the pot was used up, they continued to melt the snow.
Xu Han didn't stop until it was time to make lunch.
I quickly stir-fried two dishes and cooked rice, and lunch was ready.
After lunch, Xu Han couldn't wait to go to the kitchen to boil water to prepare for a bath.
Lu Chuan then helped by putting lots of charcoal in the bathroom. After Xu Han boiled the water, the bathroom became warm.
Xu Han took a full half hour to bathe. She not only washed her hair carefully, but also scrubbed herself to clean off the dirt on her body, and rinsed herself several times with clean water.
Only after feeling refreshed did I change into clean clothes and leave the bathroom.
After Xu Han finished showering, she and Lu Chuan bathed Mu'er together in the bathroom.
Mu'er is quite well-behaved during bath time, without crying or fussing. However, washing her hair is a bit difficult, as she accidentally gets shampoo in her eyes.
After several attempts, the result was the same. In the end, Lu Chuan simply carried Mu'er in his arms while Xu Han was responsible for washing Mu'er's hair.
After Mu'er finished washing, Lu Chuan started washing himself. Afraid that Mu'er would catch a cold if he went out now, he dried his hair and told him to stay in the bathroom for a while to warm up.
After his hair dried a little, I quickly carried him into the heated kang bed to prevent him from catching a cold.
This afternoon, everyone did nothing but take turns showering.
It wasn't until everyone had finished showering that they sat down together to dry their hair. Mu'er and Xu Han, who had showered earlier, already had their hair completely dry.
The two of them sat around the brazier with everyone, chatting and laughing.
"It's been snowing heavily all day today, and I don't know when it will stop," Lu Chuan said.
"Judging from the current situation, it probably won't stop today. Let's clear the snow in the yard again before going to bed! Otherwise, the snow will be even thicker tomorrow," Grandpa Zhao said.
“Okay, I’ll get my hair done once it’s dry. First, I’ll clear the snow off the roof. It’s quite thick there,” the Taoist priest replied.
"It's getting dark, so please be careful. I can't help you clear the snow off the roof. I'll take Mu'er to make dinner later. What would you like to eat tonight?" Xu Han asked.
"Make some porridge and stir-fry some vegetables! You probably can't manage to look after Mu'er all by yourself, so make it as simple as possible. See if you have any left in your space; you can eat what you have there too," Lu Chuan said.
"Okay, I got it. I'll see how to do it in a bit."
After waiting a while until their hair was completely dry, the group got to work. All three of them were skilled, so clearing the snow off the roof was not a difficult task.
The Taoist priest flew directly to the rooftop and used a tool to push the snow down, causing it to slide down the roof.
Lu Chuan and Grandpa Zhao were below, filling the straw mat with the snow that the Taoist priest had pushed down.
Xu Han then took Mu'er to the kitchen to cook; there were still some dishes in the space.
But there was no porridge left, so Xu Han made porridge and steamed buns.
I also served some pickled vegetables and steamed an egg custard for Mu'er.
After the porridge was cooked, Xu Han took out some of the remaining food from her space, making it another simple meal.
While Xu Han was cooking, Mu'er sat obediently on her little chair, eating the dried fruit Xu Han had made. She didn't cry or fuss, and quietly accompanied her mother as she cooked.
Many times, Xu Han felt that Mu'er was definitely here to repay a debt of gratitude, because she was so well-behaved and easy to take care of.
"Dinner's ready!" Xu Han called out loudly as she served the food.
"Here I am," Grandpa Zhao replied.
Seeing that everyone was heading towards the main room, Xu Han also brought hot water into the main room.
"Wash your hands with hot water first! I'll go get the food for everyone."
"Wife, I'll go help you too." Lu Chuan quickly followed Xu Han.
"How's it going? Have you finished clearing the snow off the roof?" Xu Han asked while feeding Mu'er steamed egg custard.
"It'll be ready soon. The Taoist priest has pushed them all down, and they're piled up in the yard. After we finish eating, we can just put the rest on the straw mats," Lu Chuan said.
"You guys are pretty fast. After dinner, let's take the torches and carry it outside first."
"Okay, let's eat first. We'll set up a few more torches in the yard later so we can see better."
"Everyone took a few extra minutes to shower today. We could have made it through today without shoveling snow, but the snow is getting heavier and heavier, so it's better to clear it out."
"It's too late to work in the courtyard today, let's work on the roof first!" the Taoist priest replied.
"Hmm, there's not much left, so it'll be quick to clean up."
After everyone quickly finished dinner, Xu Han put the collected snow into her spatial storage, and Lu Chuan took Xu Han outside with a torch to transport the snow.
"It's so cold! The snow scene makes it seem less dark," Xu Han said as she walked.
"Okay, after you finish unloading the snow, hurry back and go to bed early with Mu'er. We can move the rest out tomorrow morning. Anyway, we have plenty of straw mats at home, so these two won't make a difference."
"My main concern is that if we don't get them out in time today, and it continues to snow tonight, we won't be able to find straw mats tomorrow."
"They'll definitely be buried under the snow by then, and we'll have to dig them out tomorrow, which will be a real hassle," Xu Han said.
"Yeah, that's right. The snow tonight looks pretty heavy. It'll probably be quite deep tomorrow."
"Then I'll transport it out after you've finished cleaning up. It's not far from the stream anyway," Xu Han said.
"Okay, I'll go with you then."
The two quickly headed towards the stream. Once they arrived, Xu Han took a torch, while Lu Chuan quickly emptied the snow.
Then the two of them ran home together. The wind outside was so strong that they couldn't even open their eyes.
Even after just a short while outside, Xu Han felt shivering from the cold.
After arriving home, Xu Han went inside to check on Mu'er, while the others continued shoveling snow.
The group worked until around 8 p.m. before they were able to completely clear the snow off the roof.
