Chapter 255 Clearing Snow 2

After everything was done, everyone went to bed early, because they had to get up early the next morning to continue shoveling snow.

Otherwise, if there's too much snow piled up in the yard, it will all turn into water when it melts. If the weather is cold, the snow will melt during the day and then freeze again at night when the temperature drops.

With the snow melting and freezing repeatedly, the snow in the yard will take a long time to melt completely.

It would be better to clear the snow now when we have some free time, to avoid trouble later.

The next morning, Xu Han woke up early when Lu Chuan got up.

I heard a chirping or squeaking sound outside, which continued for a long time.

Xu Han was very curious, so she put on her clothes and got out of bed.

"What's wrong?"

"It's okay, the snow outside is blocking the doorway, I'm clearing it now."

"Did I wake you up? You should go back now, or you'll catch a cold. I'll be done in a minute," Lu Chuan said as he pushed open the door.

Xu Han craned her neck to look outside and saw that, probably because of the wind, a very high pile of snow had accumulated in front of the main room.

It was so high that even Lu Chuan couldn't cross it directly; he had to clear the snow to both sides before he could get out.

The crunching sound of people walking on the snow, combined with the noise of shoveling snow, finally woke Xu Han up.

Almost all the doors in my house open inwards, otherwise I really wouldn't have been able to get out today.

Xu Han gradually woke up after being outside for a while. She thought that since she was already up, she wouldn't go back to sleep. There were still many things to do at home.

Judging from the situation, clearing the snow today is sure to be a tough battle.

So she said to Lu Chuan, "I'm not going to do any more water. I'll go get dressed first, and then I'll come over and help you with it."

After saying that, Xu Han turned around and went back to her room. When she came out again, she was already dressed.

The two were cleaning when the Taoist priest came over from the backyard.

"Goodness, the snow in front of your door is much more than on our side. If it weren't for the houses in front blocking the snow, our side would probably be about the same."

"Do you have snow in your backyard too? How deep is the snow at the entrance?" Xu Han asked.

"It's not deep, only up to the knees," Grandpa Zhao said, bringing over three shovels from outside and handing them to Lu Chuan and the Taoist priest.

"Did the sun rise in the west today? It's so cold, and you didn't even sleep in," the Taoist priest teased.

Hahahahaha.

A flock of crows flew over Xu Han's head, but did not respond to the Taoist priest's words.

Seeing this, the Taoist priest stopped teasing Xu Han and began to clear the snow.

After Lu Chuan and Xu Han came out of the house, Xu Han found that the corridor was also covered with very deep snow.

Then I went into the yard and found that the snow was up to my calves. It must have been snowing all night without stopping, and the snowflakes were quite heavy.

The heavy snow was still falling. Xu Han wondered if this was a snow disaster, and if the floods would follow, or if the snow disaster was yet to come.

After all, although the snow is falling heavily now, it's not an extremely serious situation.

Xu Han wasn't sure if this could be considered a snow disaster, since the snowfall was indeed heavier than in previous years, but it hadn't reached a particularly serious level yet.

We can only wait and see. If it continues to snow, then this will definitely be a snow disaster.

Judging from the scene, the snow probably won't stop anytime soon. The snowflakes are still falling in large flakes, really like goose feathers, one by one from the sky.

“Shall we clear a path through the yard first? We also need to clear the snow off the corridor, otherwise it will be difficult to walk on. The snow is quite thick,” Xu Han said as she returned from the yard.

“Then let’s split up. I’ll clear a path from the courtyard gate all the way to the stream. That will make it easier to transport the snow out later,” the Taoist priest said.

"Just pile the snow outside the yard onto both sides of the road. The road doesn't need to be too wide, just wide enough for people to pass through," Grandpa Zhao instructed.

"I understand." Then the Taoist priest walked outside, his steps uneven.

Seeing this, Xu Han and Lu Chuan also started to take action. They first cleaned up the corridor. Lu Chuan and Grandpa Zhao were responsible for shoveling snow, while Xu Han followed behind and swept up the snow that had not been shoveled.

There was so much snow today; the three of them spent the whole morning clearing the snow from the front yard porch alone.

After clearing the snow from the corridor, Xu Han went to make breakfast.

Everyone has been doing physical labor all morning, so if we don't eat something to stave off hunger at noon, we definitely won't be able to hold on until lunchtime. We'll be hungry soon.

So Xu Han went into the kitchen and started kneading dough. She planned to make some fried pancakes for everyone, which would be filling and delicious.

After kneading the dough, let it rest for a while, and then Xu Han took this time to prepare the oil paste.

Add an appropriate amount of flour and a little salt to a bowl, mix well, then heat oil in a pan, pour the hot oil into the flour, stir well, and the oil paste is ready.

Xu Han cut the risen dough into appropriately sized dough pieces.

Then roll the dough out into a thin sheet with a rolling pin, spread the oil paste on the dough sheet, cut it from one side with a knife, roll it up in one direction, press it flat and set it aside for later use.

Repeat this process until all the dough is ready. By then, the first dough ball will have already risen a second time.

Roll the dough into a pancake of appropriate thickness, then heat the pan and cook it directly in the pan.

Once the pancakes are golden brown on both sides, they are ready to be taken out of the pan.

While one pan is frying pancakes, the other pan is also busy cooking a pot of sweet potato and rice porridge, which will go well with the fried pancakes later.

After Xu Han finished making the fried dough, she figured Mu'er should be awake by now, so she quickly got up and went to the room.

As soon as I opened the door, I saw Mu'er quietly playing with the little tiger that Xu Han had made for her.

"Mu'er is awake. Why is she so well-behaved today? She didn't even cry when she woke up. What a sensible and good baby," Xu Han said softly.

"Mommy, be good."

"Yes, Mu'er is such a good girl. Shall I help you get dressed?"

Xu Han first dressed Mu'er in her undergarments, then carried Mu'er off the bed to let her urinate, otherwise she would wet her pants soon.

Especially now that the weather is cold, sometimes Mu'er would rather hold it in than pee, and she makes a fuss when she poops.

It was so cold! As soon as I took off my pants, a blast of cold air rushed in, and my body instantly felt icy cold.

After Xu Han dressed Mu'er, she took Mu'er out of the room, scooped some hot water for Mu'er to wash up, and then called everyone in to eat.

"Dinner's ready! Go wash your hands and eat. There's hot water in the bathroom," Xu Han called out, then led Mu'er into the kitchen.
