Chapter 573 Cargo Transportation

Li Wen quickly chimed in, "The master mentioned this when he came to deliver the goods. They brought over all the sprouted bean sprouts."

The shop couldn't hold them all, so the master said to store them all in the mansion, making it easier to retrieve them later.

Xu Han was relieved to hear this, as this meant that the bean sprouts wouldn't be out of stock immediately after they hit the market.

It seems that these freshly made goods should be made at home, otherwise if it gets cloudy and rainy one day, the goods from the mountains will not be able to be delivered down, which will delay the business of the shop.

Fortunately, both of these are very simple and can be made with a little effort.

"Okay, I got it. You go ahead with your work. Remember to help out at the workshop when you're not busy here."

After Xu Han finished speaking, she walked out and headed towards the workshop. By sheer coincidence, she ran into Han Qi, who was driving an oxcart.

Xu Han asked, "Where are you going?"

"Madam, I'm planning to go to the livestock market to rent two oxcarts."

Grandpa Zhao said he was worried about heavy snow in the next few days, so he brought down all the goods that could be transported from the mountains.

The master just said he wanted to send down some fruit wine and other things too, and he's worried there won't be enough cars, so he asked me to rent two more.

Xu Han nodded. "Okay, go to the shop and call two people to drive the oxcart. When you see Grandpa Zhao, remember to ask him to prepare some more soybeans and mung beans to bring down with him."

It's best to prepare more; just tell him I plan to cook the bean sprouts and tofu at home.

He paused and then added, "Bring more chicken, duck and goose too, the meat in the shop sells quite well."

Han Qi nodded. "Yes, Madam, I will certainly deliver it."

The weather has been cold lately, making it a good time for winter hunting. Han Qi and Lu Chuan are both in the county town, while the Taoist priest, having nothing to do at home, goes to the mountains every day.

They hunted rabbits and pheasants all day long, and even caught quite a few wild sheep and roe deer.

The game that was brought back was usually delivered by Han Qi the next day and sold directly in the shop.

It is precisely because of the prey hunted by the Taoist priest that the shop can generate such a good income.

The Taoist priest wouldn't accept the money from selling the game at the shop. He would get angry whenever the money was calculated, so Xu Han eventually stopped arguing with him.

However, Li Wen was still asked to keep a separate ledger for each batch of prey delivered, so that he could collect them all together later and avoid the hassle of counting them every day.

Seeing that the Taoist priest seemed quite happy going up the mountain to hunt every day, Xu Han stopped caring and let him do as he pleased.

After saying goodbye to Han Qi, she headed towards the workshop. Perhaps because the weather was rather gloomy today, there were far fewer people selling sweet potatoes than yesterday.

Even so, there are still many people, but there's no need to queue like yesterday.

They weighed each one as it came in, and the harvesting speed for sweet potatoes was quite fast.

While settling accounts, Juxiang transcribed the day's accounts into a new ledger during her spare time. The others also took time out of their busy schedules to do other things.

Seeing that she didn't need to help with the sweet potato harvest, she went straight into the kitchen and started helping to tend the fire.

She didn't leave the kitchen all day, and even ate her meals sitting around the stove.

It's so cold today. It's gloomy outside, and the north wind is howling. It looks like a blizzard is about to hit.

Fortunately, the weather cooperated; although there were strong winds all day, it didn't snow.

They were given just one day to deliver all the goods the shop needed for the near future.

In the late afternoon, Xu Han learned that the shelves at the tavern had also been set up, and she couldn't wait to go and take a look.

The tavern had been cleaned before when it wasn't busy, so there was no dust inside. Lu Chuan then led his men to set up the shelves and put the goods on them.

The tavern is half the size of the mountain goods shop; it only has two storefronts, but that's enough for now.

The shelf on the left was filled with all kinds of canned fruit, some weighing several kilograms.

If you only display one pound of fruit, the goods on the shop are simply not enough to look at; there are too few varieties.

So when Xu Han saw this, she quickly asked Han Qi to put out two bottles of each of the other types and weights, making the shelves look full.

The shelves on the right side of the shop were empty for the time being. The fruit wine jars were too big to fit, so they were all placed directly on the floor against the wall.

After Manager Liu delivers the wine jars in a few days, we can repackage them separately and put them on display.

Since all the wine jars were made the same way, Xu Han had them put paper labels directly on the lids later.

There wasn't enough time to make different jars for this batch. We'll design some fruit wine jars separately when we have more time later.

Try to paint different fruits on each type of fruit wine jar, so that people can tell what kind of fruit wine is inside just by looking at the picture on the jar.

Lu Chuan followed Xu Han around the new shop and said, "The placement of these items is as we discussed before. See if there's anything else you want to change."

Xu Han looked around again and said, "Everything is fine, there's nothing to change, let's leave it as it is."

Then he asked, "Did you bring the wine container?"

"Yes, I brought it. The wine container was made of bamboo by Grandpa Zhao when he had nothing else to do, and it's all new."

Xu Han nodded upon hearing this, "That's fine. We'll put one in each wine jar to prevent the flavors from mixing."

Currently, the shop mainly sells fruit wine. Last time, Grandpa Zhao mentioned that he wanted to add some medicinal wine, which he would also put in the shop to sell!

However, we don't have much sweet potato wine left at home. We do have some medicinal herbs, but not enough wine, so we haven't made any.

But none of that matters. We can add more gradually once the shop is open. There's no rush.

Xu Han turned to look at Lu Chuan and asked, "Have all the canned goods from the mountains been delivered?"

"I kept some for myself to eat during the Chinese New Year, and some for Yunhua and Yunyun. The rest were all transported over."

"Okay, that's fine. I was worried you'd all bring them down! Is there anything else that needs to be brought down? Did you finish transporting everything today?"

Lu Chuan thought for a moment and replied, "Apart from what we eat ourselves, almost all the other supplies in the mountains have been transported down."

However, not many chickens, ducks, or geese were transported; there's no place to raise them in the county town. Only a few dozen were transported. Once they're sold out, Han Qi can transport the rest.

Xu Han nodded upon hearing this, "That's true. If we just leave the chickens, ducks, and geese here now, they'll get thin from hunger. We can wait until the weather clears up before picking them up."

The two chatted for a few more minutes, and then it gradually got dark. The couple closed the shop door and headed towards the workshop.
