Back in modern times, they could each drink a pound of liquor without flinching. As long as they didn't get drunk, it was fine to have a little bit every now and then.
Next, the two slowly ventured deeper into the jungle, but along the way, perhaps because of some stomach discomfort, they focused on walking and didn't find any precious flowers or plants.
Looking at the things on the trees in the distance, Xia Hua pulled An Shuyi in front of her, "Shushu, do you want to eat something good?" Yesterday she complained that the honey in the mall was not pure enough and was fake, but today she found a honeycomb, which looked quite big.
If she were to harvest all the honey, it would weigh at least a hundred pounds, or even more. Of course, she wouldn't harvest it all at once; she would save some to harvest next year, so she wouldn't have to worry about running out of honey to eat later.
An Shuyi turned her head and looked at her in confusion, "What delicious food?" She looked around but didn't find anything. Wait, she soon spotted a very beautiful flower.
It should be said that there was a beautiful patch of flowers, and the trees were not big, only about two meters tall. There were not one tree, but seven trees, which looked like a patch of flowers.
"Huahua, I didn't see anything delicious, but I saw a lot of beautiful flowers, just as pretty as peonies." She pointed in that direction, worried that Xia Hua might miss them.
Xia Hua looked in the direction she was referring to and indeed saw several trees covered in blossoms. "Shu Shu, I was talking about honey. Look at that tree, the beehives are huge. We can definitely harvest a lot of honey from it."
It seems that the large honeycomb owes much to those flowering trees. But judging from Shushu's actions, it's clear she wants to take the trees back with her. Without flowers, will these honeycombs still be able to produce honey?
Upon hearing the mention of honey, An Shuyi drooled. Sure enough, she saw a huge beehive on the tree, with bees flying around. "Huahua, isn't this a bit too high?"
The tree is too big for one person to hug, and the beehive is even taller. Even if she could climb up, there would be bees up there, and she was afraid of getting stung all over her head.
"So, I'm asking you, do you want to eat it?"
"think,"
"If you want to, then let's do it. Don't worry, I have a raincoat here. I'll also create some smoke. After the bees leave, we can harvest the honey and then leave without getting stung." How could she not be confident?
An Shuyi nodded, "Okay, but could we do it later? I want to dig up a tree." Although she didn't know what kind of flower it was, it looked very beautiful, and she wanted to dig it up and plant it in the yard.
"She only dug up one?" Xia Hua asked doubtfully. "I thought she would dig them all up, but she only dug up one."
"I'd like to, but there are still bees here. If I take them all, they won't have any flowers to collect nectar from, and they'll have to fly away. So I'll just dig up one tree."
She also has peonies there, such a big bunch, which can be planted separately later, and that can cover a large area.
"Alright, let's dig one up then. Let's go dig now, and then harvest the honey." With that, he took a hoe from the warehouse and started digging.
An Shuyi followed behind, placing her hand on the tree. "This is actually a camellia! Waaa, isn't the blooming time wrong? I remember camellias don't bloom in June, and this flower only costs one hundred taels per tree, which is not even as expensive as a peony."
As Xia Hua dug, she said, "I don't know when camellias bloom. They might be a mutated variety. But as long as I can see the beautiful flowers, I don't care when they bloom. As for them not being as expensive as peonies, just think about how many peony trees there are."
There's only one camellia tree, a bit taller than her, covered in red blossoms, while the peony before her was a single tree growing in clusters, so naturally it was more expensive.
Hearing her say that, An Shuyi thought it made sense, so she picked up a hoe and started digging. Fortunately, the soil was soft and she didn't need to exert much effort. She quickly dug out the camellia and put it in the warehouse.
"Shushu, let's change our clothes first. You can light a fire under the tree later, using a live branch, preferably one with lots of smoke. I'll go up and collect the honey," Xia Hua said, handing her a raincoat.
“Okay, then leave two more buckets of water, otherwise I’m worried the fire will get bigger,” An Shuyi said.
Seeing that Huahua had put down the water, she hurriedly went to pick up some dry wood from the side, then brought some branches and lit a fire next to the tree. Seeing that Huahua had already climbed down to the bottom of the beehive, she put the live branches on the fire.
Soon there was a crackling sound, followed by thick smoke. Luckily there was no wind, otherwise the smoke would have blown in another direction instead of rising upwards.
Xia Hua squatted on the branch and waited for the bees to be scared away by the smoke before continuing to climb up. When she got to the beehive, there were no bees inside. She took out the prepared bucket and cut off the thick honeycomb at the bottom of the hive and put it in the bucket.
Those that weren't good were cut off and thrown away. After they had cut enough, they put the bucket in the warehouse and climbed down the tree. Once she was down, An Shuyi poured water on the fire and made sure there was no flame before the two of them left.
From beginning to end, no bees noticed them. Perhaps the smoke was too thick, and the bees were frightened away. It might take them a while to come back, or they might not come back at all. We'll check back in a few days.
After leaving, Xia Hua took out a bucket of honey from the warehouse, took a fruit knife, cut two pieces of honey from the bucket, handed them to An Shuyi, and then put the bucket back in the warehouse.
An Shuyi watched her finish and handed her another piece of honey before taking a bite of the one in her hand. "Mmm, so sweet, and it has a floral fragrance." She then took another big bite.
"No matter how sweet or delicious it is, you can only eat this piece. You can't eat any more." Xia Hua had to remind her, worried that she would want to eat more after finishing this one.
