Jiang Shan moved quickly and soon arrived at the entrance of the Third Prince's mansion. The servant recognized Jiang Shan's face and dared not delay, so he ran inside with small, quick steps.
Soon after, Jiang Shan was taken to a side hall. He then handed the letter to a servant, who passed it on to Xiao Hai, who immediately went to find He Shunsu.
After about the time it takes for an incense stick to burn, He Shunsu hurriedly ran out from inside.
"Is the letter true?" He Shunsu asked with a frown and a dark expression.
Jiang Shan nodded: "Take a look at this, and you'll know whether it's real or fake!" As he spoke, Jiang Shan spread out the remaining ashes.
He Shunsu picked up a small pinch, put it under his nose and smelled it. His face immediately turned pale and his expression became solemn.
"Where did you find it?" He Shunsu, disregarding his status as a prince, grabbed Jiang Shan's hand and asked.
"Outside the young master's bedroom door!" Jiang Shan didn't offer any further explanation.
"Where is he?" He Shunsu continued to ask.
Jiang Shan recounted Jiang Ling's encounter with the Persian merchant and then told him where Jiang Ling was currently staying. He Shunsu stroked his chin and said to Jiang Shan, "Alright, you can go back now! Protect your master and Nianci! I'll be there later! Oh, and leave me some of this!"
Jiang Shan left half of the powder for He Shunsu, bowed, and disappeared at the gate of the Third Prince's mansion.
He Shunsu recalled what Jiang Shan had shown him earlier, hesitated for a moment, then wrapped the items up and headed into the imperial city.
The Imperial City.
"Your Majesty, why are you so vicious!" He Shunsu barged into the Empress Dowager's bedchamber, ignoring the maids' attempts to stop him.
