Chapter 5 I'll Protect You

Looking at the frail boy before her, Jiang Ling finally disregarded the mud covering Jiang Yaojie's hands and gently embraced him, softly saying, "Yaojie, don't cry. Your mother will make sure you don't go hungry!"

Jiang Yaojie froze, then hid in Jiang Ling's arms and burst into tears.

The crying continued in the valley for a long time. Although Jiang Ling felt a little uncomfortable, out of maternal instinct, she gently stroked Jiang Yaojie's back.

After a long while, Jiang Yaojie's crying finally stopped. He jumped out of Jiang Ling's arms in a fluster, said thank you to Jiang Ling with a complicated expression, and then returned to his previous silent state.

Jiang Yaojie simply nodded and then ran out of the valley. Watching Jiang Yaojie's disappearing figure, Jiang Ling returned to the place where she had picked wild ginseng and began digging for wild ginseng again.

Jiang Ling didn't stop her work until sunset. Looking at the ground covered with wild ginseng, she nodded in satisfaction.

Jiang Ling quickly pressed the "Yes" button. In an instant, all the wild ginseng around Jiang Ling disappeared, and at the same time, the number of copper coins on the system shop page began to increase rapidly.

Jiang Ling felt very satisfied. She quickly wiped the sweat from her forehead and walked out of the valley.
