The two of them stared at each other for about ten seconds, but in the end, Tao Xiaoxi gave in. There was nothing she could do about it; the guy was indeed handsome, and it seemed as if her undeveloped love was suddenly revealed. Tao Xiaoxi's face instantly turned red to her ears.
Li Nanshan also let go of the person under him and said a little awkwardly, "I want to take you to the hospital."
This time, Tao Xiaoxi's face turned even redder. She had misunderstood. Oh, this beautiful misunderstanding, she wished it could happen again.
Seeing that Tao Xiaoxi didn't say anything, Li Nanshan asked anxiously, "Are you feeling unwell again?"
Tao Xiaoxi nodded.
"Where?" Li Nanshan bounced away and took another step forward, but did not dare to get any closer.
"I'm hungry." Tao Xiaoxi squeezed out three words from between his teeth.
The gloom on Li Nanshan's face cleared up and he said hurriedly, "Wait."
After saying that, he ran out, knowing that being hungry meant he would be fine.
Tao Xiaoxi thought that now she could finally enjoy the delicacies from the mountains and the sea.
Unexpectedly, Li Nanshan brought a bowl of corn porridge with watery soup and a plate of pickles that were indistinguishable. Even a dog would dislike it.
Tao Xiaoxi frowned, her eyes turned red, and she was about to cry.
Li Nanshan didn't understand what was going on and thought she was still feeling unwell. He put down the bowl and walked out the door. "You still have to go to the hospital."
Before he reached the door, someone grabbed the corner of his clothes and he couldn't move forward.
Li Nanshan turned around and met Tao Xiaoxi's pitiful eyes. His heart suddenly jumped, his Adam's apple rolled, and his heart was surging.
"Is this all you're going to eat?" Tao Xiaoxi questioned, looking fierce, but her eyes were blurred with hunger. In Li Nanshan's eyes, it turned into anger, which made him confused and flattered.
"Yes." Li Nanshan answered honestly.
Li Nanshan's "yes" instantly brought Tao Xiaoxi to her knees. All the delicacies she had tasted were gone. Like a duck about to be eaten that had flown away, or milk tea that had been in her hand that had leaked, Tao Xiaoxi felt so resentful and anxious that tears immediately filled her eyes.
Li Nanshan didn't dare to look directly.
Tao Xiaoxi had never seen the original owner, so she didn't know how devastating her expression would be. The original owner wasn't petite, only about 160cm tall, but in front of Li Nanshan, who was nearly 180cm tall, she had every reason to act like a little bird, acting like a spoiled child. Add to that her face, which was like a silver plate, her eyes like apricots, her lips naturally red, her eyebrows naturally emerald green, and she was truly beautiful without even realizing it.
The original owner didn't realize it because she didn't consider her baby face beautiful. Furthermore, she was naturally shy and self-conscious, always wearing a gloomy face, which concealed seven out of ten of her natural beauty. Tao Xiaoxi didn't know simply because she had never looked in the mirror and had no idea what she looked like now. She just thought she was a little shorter and whiter than her previous self.
A soft and cute baby face, coupled with a pair of watery and misty eyes, can make all men in the world weak in the knees and tremble in the heart, unless he is blind. Obviously, Li Nanshan is not blind.
But he had a clear conscience, and even if Tao Xiaoxi was not his friend's wife, he could not bully her.
"I'll get you something else." Li Nanshan said with his back turned.
Tao Xiaoxi smiled through her tears, "Let me cook a bowl of noodles and put an egg in it, that would be great."
She thought it through. It was unrealistic to ask him to take out delicacies from land and sea in the current situation. However, as a country family, they always have eggs, and noodles are not a rare item. After all, the Li family is the richest family in Mantou Village, so they should be able to satisfy her.
Li Nanshan curled his lips and said, "Okay, you wait." He was about to leave with the corn porridge.
"Wait a minute." Tao Xiaoxi called him again in a soft voice.
Li Nanshan's scalp felt a little numb.
"Give me that bowl. I'll have some first. Don't waste it." Tao Xiaoxi grinned and tried her best to act sensible.
Li Nanshan paused, understood, and then handed the bowl over.
When he came out, he heard the sound of the woman drinking porridge behind him. The expression on his face was finally no longer so serious, and he felt much more relaxed.
It was the first time for Tao Xiaoxi to drink such corn porridge. It was shapeless and very watery, but perhaps because she was extremely hungry, she not only did not find it unpalatable, but it was refreshing and indescribably comfortable. If she had another bowl of minced pork with mushrooms, she would give it 60 points.
While waiting for Li Nanshan to make noodles, she closed the door, moved her mind, and went to the space to take a look.
Li Nanshan, however, had a bad start. As soon as he left the house, he ran into his father, Li Maogen, who was spreading hay on the floor of the barn. The weather was cold, and snow was about to fall. The only valuable animal in the family was the donkey, as valuable as a human, and Old Man Li treasured it dearly.
"Is she awake?" Old man Li is a shrewd old man. He has lived cautiously all his life, not giving anyone any handle and afraid of being laughed at. This time he made a big fool of himself. He has been working with his head down for the past two days and dared not speak loudly.
It's fair to say that everyone who lived through the 1960s was a nervous bird, terrified at the slightest sign of trouble. The old man, a lifetime of caution and vigilance, listened to his wife this time and threw himself at the stake for Nanshan, the youngest son. He never imagined it would backfire, becoming the biggest joke in Mantou Village. He blamed his wife, himself, and sometimes his son, asking how he could survive. But he immediately dismissed this thought. After all, his son's survival outweighed everything else, including his own dignity.
Li Nanshan didn't answer his father and walked straight to the kitchen.
The eggs were hidden in the jar and the flour was hidden in the niche behind the cupboard. His mother had carefully hidden them so that the children in the house would not eat them. But this time, he was going to eat them.
