Li Nanshan watched the fading light in the sky and the increasingly sparse figures on the street, no longer wanting to bother anyone. The streets were deserted, new greenery sprouting from last year's weeds, yet his heart felt desolate. He seemed no longer the proud son of heaven he once was. When had he become like this? A man he himself despised?
He walked aimlessly forward until he finally reached the corner of an alley. The 5'8" man slowly crouched down against the wall, his face in his hands, his shoulders shaking violently as he sobbed. He hoped to hide in this corner, vent all his weakness and incompetence, and then move on.
Obviously, man proposes, God disposes. A few children who were running past him after school stopped curiously and squatted in front of Li Nanshan to watch him cry. Li Nanshan buried his face, not looking at them, so that they could not see his face either.
When he stopped shaking, he stood up and wiped his eyes with his sleeves, but the children had not left yet and asked him why he was crying.
"I didn't cry. The wind and sand blinded me. You should walk more carefully." Li Nanshan argued cunningly.
"You're lying. There's no wind and no sand. You just cried. Oh, shame on you. You're such a grown-up and still crying..." The child spoke without restraint and laughed at Li Nanshan.
Li Nanshan laughed along with them, and as they laughed, the children became frightened and ran away as if they had seen a ghost. Watching their fleeing figures, Li Nanshan realized for the first time that the fragility of people in this world is the most worthless thing, and even children can laugh at it.
