Chapter 52 Acceptance Letter

Chapter 52 Acceptance Letter

Tao Xiaoxi thought her mother-in-law asked her to go for family training. She had always heard that a new daughter-in-law had to be given rules when she got married. However, she didn't expect that Mrs. Li would take her hand and give her a cloth bag.

When I opened it, I saw it was a silver bracelet.

"Last time your father was sick and our family was really broke, I was reluctant to take this out. It was because I thought Nanshan hadn't married yet. Now that she has married you, I won't keep this thing, so that no one will covet it. You can take it and keep it well. Whether you wear it yourself or keep it for your child, it's all fine. Mother has no objection." When Mrs. Li said this, she glanced at Beibei who was playing outside.

Tao Xiaoxi understood immediately, but she hadn't expected her mother-in-law to give her such a confession. All her prepared strategies were useless, so she said frankly, "Thank you, mother. I will take good care of it and pass it down to the Li family. Don't worry, I will leave this bracelet to the Li family's children."

Mrs. Li smiled awkwardly and changed the subject, "When do you and Nanshan plan to have a baby?"

Tao Xiaoxi opened her mouth, her mind blank, but luckily she was quick-witted and had already spoken before she could even think. "We're both in good health, so we'll have it if we get pregnant."

"That's good, that's good. Mother is waiting for your good news."

"Then I'll make sure you wait." Tao Xiaoxi said sweetly.

The more Mrs. Li looked at her young wife, the more she liked her. She couldn't stop smiling.

Li Nanshan was a little absent-minded while waiting outside, fearing that his mother would embarrass his wife, but at the same time he was also afraid that his honest wife would speak her mind and say something insincere. When he saw his wife and mother coming out hand in hand, the stone in his heart fell to the ground.

"Let's eat here at noon. I'll make you some pancakes." Mrs. Li was in a good mood and became generous.

"I'll listen to Nanshan." Tao Xiaoxi said obediently, giving Li Nanshan enough face.

Li Nanshan's heart softened, "Let's listen to Beibei's opinion."

Tao Xiaoxi didn't expect Li Nanshan to say that. She nodded and said, "You ask."

Beibei was rolling marbles on the ground with Damao and Ermao. She heard someone calling her, turned around, and saw it was Li Nanshan. She looked a little uncomfortable, but no longer had a bad temper like she did in the morning, and walked over.

"Can we have lunch here at noon, Beibei?" Li Nanshan asked.

Mrs. Li was a little confused. Without waiting for Beibei to speak, she said, "What does Baby know? You guys decide."

Beibei's mouth, which was about to open, closed again and ran back to play with Damao and Ermao, but his interest was obviously not as high as before.

"Just eat here, Beibei, it's okay." Tao Xiaoxi smiled.

Mrs. Li went into the house to prepare lunch. This meal had a special meaning. It was the most people in the Li family's history. As a mother-in-law, she was very happy.

Tao Xiaoxi looked around but didn't see anyone, so she asked her aunt Nanqiu why she was not at home.

"I went to my classmate's house in the county town early in the morning. It seems that the college entrance examination results are out, but she didn't receive the notification. I went to ask her." The sister-in-law walked around the yard, talking as she walked.

Tao Xiaoxi calculated the time and it was already mid-August. Logically, if he passed the exam, he should have been notified.

"What score does she estimate she'll get?" Tao Xiaoxi asked again.

"What is an estimated score?"

"Estimated scores are how many points you can get on the test."

"I don't know. I've never heard her talk about it at home, and no one has ever heard her talk about it."

"Why?" Tao Xiaoxi was curious.

"Because no one agreed to let her go to college." The eldest sister-in-law said bluntly, "As a girl, the best she can do is go to high school."

Tao Xiaoxi felt sorry for Li Nanqiu. Born in such an era, it seemed that the road to success had become particularly bumpy.

When it was time to eat, Li Nanqiu had not returned yet, but Old Man Li had returned from the fields. Tao Xiaoxi called out "Dad", and Old Man Li responded vaguely, but nothing else happened.

Li Nanshan looked at his wife apologetically, and Tao Xiaoxi gave him four words: I don't mind.

If Old Man Li was so enthusiastic towards her now, she would think it was unreasonable. He didn't like her from the beginning, and it was impossible for him to change in one night. This attitude was consistent with Old Man Li's personality, so she was not angry.

During the meal, Li Nanshan took care of Tao Xiaoxi secondly. He cared more about whether Beibei ate well, but Beibei was not willing to pay attention to him. Fortunately, he found out that Damao and Ermao were good friends with her, so he secretly told his nephew to take good care of Beibei.

Da Mao got some scrambled eggs, and Er Mao got a piece of pancake. The two boys' actions scared their mother, "What are you two doing? Eat your own food!"

After being yelled at by their mother, Da Mao and Er Mao didn't know where they got the courage from, but they still insisted on doing what they wanted. They were about to put the whole plate of eggs into Bei Bei's bowl, but Tao Xiaoxi hurriedly stopped them and said, "Da Mao and Er Mao, eat yourselves, Bei Bei, that's enough."

Da Mao and Er Mao looked at their uncle and gave up feeding the animals only after getting his approval.

Beibei was full after this meal, but Yang Rongzhi was probably very angry.

At the end of the meal, Li Nanqiu came back, but she was furious and rushed straight to her father. She pointed at Old Man Li and asked, "Where is my notice?"

Old man Li had just put tobacco into his pipe and hadn't had time to light it when his daughter asked him such a random question. Without thinking, he replied, "What book? I don't see it. Aren't all the books in your room? Ask your mother to find them for you."

"Dad, don't play dumb. I've asked the people at the post office about the notification letter and the university notification letter that the postman brought to me. They said they delivered it to our house and the recipient was you." Li Nanqiu's eyes were red.
