Chapter 106 Who exactly is causing trouble?

Sure enough, her words led everyone to speculate about what happened yesterday, but speculation is speculation, and there is no way to prove it without concrete evidence.

After hearing Deng Wei's words, Yuan Shuhui got up and scanned the room. After searching for a while, she finally spotted Jiang Yu's figure in a corner.

"Forget it, Shuhui, it's not good for us to go there without evidence. What if we cause a scene and she retaliates?"

Deng Wei could tell that Yuan Shuhui wanted to stand up for her, but she was also worried about being criticized by Shen Ying like yesterday, so she pretended to try her best to minimize the situation.

"It's possible that I just accidentally put it in the wrong place. I'll look for it carefully when I get back to the hotel."

Her magnanimity made it clear that she was not investigating the matter further for the sake of the bigger picture, which increased my liking for her even more.

"If the necklace really is just misplaced, as you say, then how do you explain this dress? This was specially commissioned by the Chief's wife for us, and it has always been properly kept. What does this mean?"

Yuan Shuhui thought she was extremely clever, analyzing the problem logically and concluding that someone had done it on purpose.

When Deng Wei saw her walking towards Jiang Yu, she pretended to stop her for a moment, and then let her go.

"Comrade Shen, wife of Battalion Commander Shen, please give us a reasonable explanation."

Yuan Shuhui walked up to Jiang Yu and saw that she was still sleeping soundly in a leisurely manner, so she couldn't help but scold her loudly.

Jiang Yu thought she was having a nightmare and was startled awake. She opened her eyes to find a group of people surrounding her, led by that scheming, scheming sister.

I don't even need to guess; they're probably here to cause trouble again. I just don't understand what excuse they'll come up with this time.

"Miss, please hand over Weiwei's belongings immediately and apologize to her to make up for your mistake. Of course, we will also report your actions to the leadership. Even if you are Battalion Commander Shen's wife, you cannot do whatever you want."

"???"

Jiang Yu pondered her words for a long time, completely bewildered, unable to understand. What had she taken that allowed her to do whatever she wanted?

Faced with her attitude, Yuan Shuhui seemed to have expected it, letting out two cold laughs and secretly mocking:

"Yesterday you were saying in the car that we wouldn't have anything to do with each other anymore, and you were implying that we were picking on you. Today you've changed your tune and are starting to retaliate against us? I don't know how Battalion Commander Shen could have taken a liking to someone like you."

Yuan Shuhui was like Deng Wei's mouth double; every word she said hit her nail on the head. How could someone like that be worthy of being Battalion Commander Shen's wife? She'd say her own girlfriends were more suitable. She didn't know how this country bumpkin managed to bewitch a man; did they even have anything in common?

"First of all, you have no right to comment on my relationship with Shen Ying. Secondly, what evidence do you have that I took something? You're just making baseless accusations; aren't you afraid of tarnishing the reputation of your cultural troupe?"

If it were yesterday, Jiang Yu, unaware of the situation, would have felt sorry for her based on just one incident—being used as a tool and ultimately having to take the blame. But her actions today evoked no sympathy whatsoever; she was nothing short of a smug, self-satisfied fool.

Upon hearing that the cultural troupe was being smeared, some people couldn't stand it anymore and launched a barrage of attacks, much like the scene yesterday.

"Since you're so confident, why don't you let us all search for it?"

"We've searched everywhere else, and it's not there at all. It's only here that you won't let us search. Doesn't that seem a bit odd? Or are you feeling guilty?"

Jiang Yu was getting a headache listening to their chatter. Who said one woman was equivalent to a hundred ducks quacking? She hadn't believed it before, but now she completely agreed.

"Even if I have nothing to hide, I still need to find the leadership to resolve this issue. You inexplicably gave me a whole bunch of unfriendly things. Who knows what you're going to do next? What if there's a personal safety issue? Who will be responsible?"

She thought, "Let them search all they want, do whatever they want." But she needed to call a leader over, otherwise, if they couldn't find anything and these people colluded to cheat her, wouldn't she just be left with a bitter pill to swallow?

When Jiang Yu stated her demands, Deng Wei, watching from a distance, visibly panicked. If she had truly wronged her, she would likely lose favor with her superiors, and future promotions and raises would be out of reach.

But then I thought, I can't frame someone for the necklace, but surely I can frame someone for the clothes? There's no evidence for that, so I'm not afraid of what others might say. Besides, I heard that the designer who made these clothes was also with them this time, in addition to the leaders.

If that designer finds that all their hard work has been ruined, they'll probably be even angrier than she was. At that point, I doubt the higher-ups won't step in and make the decision.

As she was thinking this, the door was already pushed open.

A large group of people, led by Li Xue, entered in a grand procession. They were taken aback by the chaotic scene inside.

Just as everyone was wondering how they had alerted the leadership, the regimental commander spoke up:

"What happened?"

The person who sneaked out to report gave them a brief overview, but the group didn't know the specifics.

Someone recounted the details, and when the troupe leader learned that the clothes worn on stage had been cut up, and that it was the lead dancer Deng Wei's clothes, he was so frightened that he pushed through the crowd and rushed over.

Upon seeing that the beautiful clothes were now tattered and torn, he flew into a rage, ignoring even Li Xue who was there, and loudly berated her:

"Who did this? Do they know how important this garment is? If we can't find the culprit, we'll all be in trouble."

His voice was so loud that it startled Deng Wei, who was standing closest to him.

"Commander, it's her."

Upon hearing that the leader had arrived, Yuan Shuhui pointed at Jiang Yu, who was still sitting there continuing to argue, and solemnly replied, inwardly thinking that Jiang Yu was definitely doomed.

"You... I don't care how important your identity is, find a way to fix this right now, or don't blame me for being impolite."

The regimental commander, a man in his fifties, showed no respect whatsoever after seeing that she was Shen Ying's wife.

"Commander, don't be angry. This matter hasn't even been resolved yet. Isn't it a bit unreasonable to take your anger out on others now? If all else fails, we can take it to the higher-ups and see who is causing trouble and why."

When Li Xue said this, she glanced at Deng Wei. She remembered this female soldier; she was usually the one who participated in any activities in the army, so it was understandable that the regimental commander valued her talent.

But she's different; if she finds out who started it all, she definitely won't forgive them.

"Of the entire group that came here, only she and Weiwei had some kind of conflict. If it wasn't her, who else could it be?"

Yuan Shuhui pursed her lips and rolled her eyes. Now that the regimental commander was here, this matter certainly wouldn't just end like this. If it really got out, let's see what she would do.
