Chapter 107 Waiting for your apology

Seeing that these people were completely unreasonable, Jiang Yu felt it wasn't worth wasting her time on them and was furious. If she had known it would end like this, she shouldn't have taken this order. Perhaps she could still be leisurely making clothes in the shop now, occasionally chatting with Liu Cui.

Alternatively, I could take Shen Wan with me. In any case, it's much better than staying here.

"Jiang Yu, what exactly happened?"

Li Xue didn't believe the female soldiers' account, thinking they were definitely framing her. However, even so, some things couldn't be verified. For example, she had only met these people the next day; what grudge could they possibly have?

Even if there were any, they would be trivial matters, not worth making such a fuss over.

Hearing the familiar voice, Jiang Yu looked over, intending to explain, but Deng Wei beat her to it. Deng Wei looked like a victim, two tears welling in her eyes, giving the impression of someone who had been bullied.

“Commander, I didn’t know this woman’s identity when we were on the bus yesterday, and I offended her. I explained at the time that it wasn’t intentional, but who knew it would turn out like this today.”

Deng Wei's persona in the troupe leader's eyes was that of a well-behaved girl. Because she brought various honors to the troupe, even the troupe leader began to value her and naturally favored her wholeheartedly.

Upon hearing that his beloved soldier had been wronged in this way, the regimental commander almost lost control and reprimanded Jiang Yu.

"Miss, I suggest you apologize to Comrade Weiwei right away and return her necklace. After you've done that, please leave immediately; you're not welcome here."

Although we don't know what her purpose is in coming here, in general, she absolutely cannot stay here any longer, otherwise the cultural troupe might be disbanded one day without anyone knowing.

"Why should I apologize to her? I didn't do anything to her. If you keep slandering people like this, you're just ganging up on her to bully her."

Jiang Yu felt that the regimental commander was unreasonable; to be precise, everyone in the regiment was rather abnormal.

"Stop spouting nonsense. Since things have come to this, let's do a body search. We'll see how you explain yourself when we find evidence."

Yuan Shuhui gave a cold laugh as she reminded her. Didn't she just say she could be searched? And she only agreed in front of her superiors. Now that she has the chance, why not take advantage of it?

"OK."

Jiang Yu agreed, saying she couldn't be happier, but things weren't that simple.

"What will you do if you can't find it?"

She is upright and honest, and she has nothing to begin with. If these people want to insult her, they will have to bear the consequences.

“If we can’t find it, all the female soldiers in our cultural troupe will apologize to you, in front of the provincial leaders.”

Now that things have come to this point, they are determined to fight to the end and get a result.

"make a deal."

Jiang Yu readily agreed. This embarrassing opportunity had come to them, so why not take it?

"But we need to make this clear beforehand: if we find anything on you, if we find any evidence, you have to apologize to us in front of everyone, and you have to personally admit that you are a thief and a scoundrel."

Yuan Shuhui became more and more engrossed in her storytelling, which made Li Xue, who was standing next to her, frown and couldn't help but slap the table in front of her.

The sound was loud, nearly shattering the things on the table. Everyone turned to look and saw the chief's wife with a livid face, as if she was about to reprimand someone.

"Nonsense."

She gritted her teeth, her words seemingly squeezed out between her teeth, as she looked at the group of people who were arguing fiercely and completely disregarding her.

Regardless of who wins or loses, they're the ones who lose face. Isn't this just bullying their own kind? If they were truly capable, wouldn't they have received an award to prove themselves?

Besides, it's just a small matter that could be resolved privately. Why did it have to escalate to this point?

"Madam, our soldiers are very discreet. Since they've said so, there must be something going on. It's really not right for you to vouch for them in front of everyone."

The regimental commander's words were undoubtedly a warning to Li Xue: although she was the wife of a high-ranking officer, there were matters within the military that were not her concern, and she should not interfere. Otherwise, it would dampen the morale of the troops, which would be disastrous.

Do you really think I wouldn't dare ask Chief Zhang to remove you from your post?

Hearing this, Li Xue pointed at him angrily, trembling all over. What was this old scoundrel trying to do? Did he really think he could fly to the heavens?

"The chief's wife probably wouldn't dare."

The regimental commander knew what was going on. Commander Zhang had only been promoted recently, and he didn't dare risk being gossiped about for such a thing.

"Stop talking nonsense and hurry up and search. We'll be waiting for your apologies after you're done."

Jiang Yu also learned some of the intricacies of the situation from the man's words. In her opinion, no amount of explanation was as reliable as presenting the facts.

Seeing this, Yuan Shuhui found two helpers to try and get the information out of Jiang Yu. She looked smug, as if she had already confirmed the matter.

Knowing the difference between men and women, the group leader simply avoided the area and left. Before leaving, he specifically said to Deng Wei:

"With me backing you up, don't be afraid of anything."

His voice was anything but low-key; he was speaking to Deng Wei, yet it also sounded like he was talking to Li Xue.

Li Xue glared angrily at his departing figure, cursing inwardly. No one in the army dared to disrespect her. Since this troupe leader dared to act this way, he probably didn't take them seriously, or perhaps he had a much bigger backer.

Jiang Yu accepted the situation calmly and, together with several female soldiers, searched the area three times, but found nothing. They told Deng Wei the results, subtly reminding her to think it over carefully.

Yuan Shuhui was clearly incredulous when she received the results. Just as she was about to search a fourth time, Jiang Yu objected.

"Are you going to keep searching here forever? I'm not one of your troops, don't try to control me with your rules. Besides, we've searched so many times and still haven't found what we're looking for, are you planning to keep searching until tomorrow?"

"If you didn't take the necklace, what about the clothes?"

Deng Wei wasn't very confident about the necklace being used to frame someone, so she was completely unfazed when she learned of the outcome. After all, the main event wasn't about that.

She whispered to Yuan Shuhui, and a moment later, the regimental commander came in.

"Since the necklace incident was a misunderstanding, let's deal with the clothes. Besides, we're here to perform, and everyone knows how important costumes are."

He was very dissatisfied with the necklace's outcome, and his voice lacked confidence. He glanced at Jiang Yu, then discussed it with Li Xue for a while.

She was the one who found the designer, and everyone was satisfied, so naturally she was the one to make the repairs. Of course, when it comes to the dispute between the two of them over the clothes, they couldn't very well wrongly accuse her again, could they?
