Chapter 75 Courageous and Resourceful

Yun Er shook his head and said, "See? I wasn't wrong. Don't worry, the seven of us have to take turns, so we can't sleep with you every day."

After glancing at the house with lights on across the street, Yun Er continued, "Master, guess who lives across the street?"

Yun Mo entered the house and began to take off his outer robe. Hearing this, he remembered hearing Old Madam Zhao's voice when he entered the courtyard and said, "The Lin family?"

"That's right, that's Miss Lin's house across the street."

Yun Mo paused, put his outer robe back on, and quickly closed the door.

Upon seeing this, Yun Er's eyes curved into crescent moons. "Master, you must seize this opportunity."

He was talking more and more nonsensically; it wouldn't be good if others heard what he was saying, since we live in the same courtyard.

Yun Mo scolded in a low voice, "Don't talk nonsense. It's not good if someone hears you."

The next day, before dawn.

Lin Yinan got up early, picked up her immortal sword and bow, and quietly went out the door.

After leaving the courtyard, she did not go down the mountain, but instead chose to walk up the mountain.

Near the summit, she found a large tree to stop under, the perfect spot to practice her archery.

After practicing archery for a while, she practiced swordsmanship with a sword and even demonstrated a set of close-quarters combat boxing techniques.

She stopped when she started to sweat slightly, climbed up the tree, found a comfortable branch, and closed her eyes to rest.

Perhaps it was because the weather was getting colder, but she noticed that she was particularly prone to drowsiness. Could it be due to spring fatigue and autumn lethargy? Her body shouldn't be that weak.

Good morning, Miss Lin.

The man's voice was deep and warm. When it reached Lin Yinan's ears, she suddenly opened her eyes and turned to look down at the tree.

As dawn broke, Yun Mo, dressed in a dark brocade robe and carrying a sword, stood under a tree, looking up at her.

Miss Lin always seemed to like lying in the trees.

"Good morning, Young Master Yun!"

After saying hello, Lin Yinan closed her eyes again. The cool breeze had already dried the sweat on her body. She planned to lie down for a while longer before going back.

Yun Mo originally intended to say hello and leave, but now that he had said hello, he refused to move.

He frowned slightly and, as if possessed, said, "After breakfast, we will hold a meeting at the entrance of the council hall to discuss how to distribute the confiscated grain and gold. Miss Lin, you should go and listen in later."

Lin Yinan was puzzled; what was his purpose in calling her there?

"My uncle and brother will be going, so I won't go and join in the fun."

Yun Mo said, "You've done a great job this time, and I'd like to hear your opinion."

Lin Yinan was taken aback. In this male-centric feudal society, who would care about a little girl's opinion?

She let out a soft scoff, shrugged nonchalantly, and said in a cool voice, "Does my opinion matter?"

The young girl in front of me was calm and wise, and her magnanimity was in no way inferior to that of a man.

Yun Mo disliked her self-deprecating manner and said earnestly, "I think it's very important."

Seeing how much he valued her, Lin Yinan thought it would be good to listen to what they had to say, so she nodded in agreement.

The Yun family only invited the more respected people from Linjia Village to the meeting. Some clan elders whose families did not participate in the bandit suppression were not invited, so as not to give them the opportunity to rely on their age.

Throughout this journey, and after this incident, the Yunmo brothers have come to believe that whoever makes the greatest contribution has the right to participate in decision-making.

In chaotic times, the law of the jungle prevails.

When Lin Yinan arrived, Lin Shuo and Lin Yiheng were already sitting in the front chairs.

When Yunye saw her arrive, he had his guards add an extra chair next to the uncle and nephew.

The village chief and the clan chief exchanged a glance, and both saw something unusual in each other's eyes.

The Yun family's intention was clearly to elevate the Lin family.

Several elders looked displeased; they were slow to react and felt their authority had been challenged.

"Anan, we're in a meeting, what are you doing here?"

A hint of displeasure flashed in Yun Mo's eyes, but he said calmly, "This time, the success in capturing the stronghold was entirely due to Miss Lin's early shooting of the bandits on the watchtower. She then fought with all her might to kill the bandit leader who was hiding. She is a woman, and many of us men would be ashamed of our abilities."

His words caused an uproar; they never expected that she could even kill a bandit leader.

Yunye, Yunyi, Yuner, and the others all glanced at Yunmo. The people of Linjia Village didn't know, but they weren't blind. It was clearly him who killed the bandit leader.

Yun Mo remained calm and composed, completely ignoring their probing gazes.

Lin Yinan didn't understand why Yun Mo would support her, even attributing the credit for killing the bandit leader to her.

Ignoring the strange looks from the villagers, she sat steadily next to Lin Shuo and his nephew.

The Yun brothers were raised and educated by the old general and the great general from a young age. They were both brave and resourceful, having fought their way up from the battlefield.

They had already devised a plan for distributing the confiscated grain and supplies.

They explained their proposed plan to everyone present, and everyone agreed.

The spoils of war were distributed according to the merits of the families who contributed to the war effort. They could choose to ask for grain or money, or half grain and half money.

Excluding the elderly, women, and children, other families who did not contribute labor were not included in the distribution. Those who needed food could barter for goods, and the method of bartering was up to the Yun family.

Lin Yinan also thought this method was excellent.

The clan chief and village chief were very glad that their son had signed up. Although he had suffered some minor injuries, they felt they had made a good deal by receiving so much grain and money for free.

After the meeting, the villagers who had been gathered outside tentatively approached to ask how to exchange grain.

Knowing that the Yun family was generous, they could exchange wild vegetables, potatoes, and firewood for grain.

The Yun family also announced other ways to exchange food, such as cooking for the guards, making winter clothes for them, and allowing women with good needlework skills to exchange their work for food.
