Just then, Tang Wan's hospital bed was wheeled out.
The delivery room door opened.
The hospital bed was quickly surrounded, and Chen Zheng arrived at the bedside in an instant, like a gust of wind.
He held Tang Wan's hand.
From Xu Ruantang's perspective, a single tear landed on the blanket.
"Wanwan, Wanwan, how are you feeling? Are you alright?"
Tang Wan looked very weak, her hair was soaked with sweat and stuck to her face.
She was awake, her face pale, and she smiled softly: "Yes, I'm so tired, Chen Zheng, I want to sleep."
The moment the hospital bed was wheeled out, everyone except Chen Ji and Xu Ruantang swarmed around it.
If it weren't for the fear of sucking away all the oxygen, Xu Ruantang would have wanted to join in as well.
But there were just too many people around, and the old lady's legs suddenly became more agile, allowing her to grab a good spot.
"Let's go back to the ward!"
"My dear daughter, sleep peacefully, Mom is right here beside you."
"Dad's here too, go to sleep if you're tired."
"Grandma will accompany you back to your ward."
A whole bunch of people arrived, and before the nurses could even lend a hand, they all left.
Xu Ruantang blinked.
She looked at the nurse holding the child who had just been squeezed and spun around, and the nurse was also looking at her and Chen Ji with a bewildered expression.
The nurse reached out her hand, as if to say, "The baby is still here!"
"Give it to me, I'll take it back to my ward."
It's one thing to leave others, but why would Ye Lan abandon her own grandson and just leave like that?
Xu Ruantang carefully handed the child over to the nurse.
She held the baby in her arms and examined it closely. The newborn was already looking around with its eyes open.
Xu Ruantang knew that he couldn't see anything at all.
But at this moment, I couldn't help but smile at the young man, a chubby, round boy with fair skin.
He was still smacking his lips.
"They need to drink milk when they get back to the ward; if the mother doesn't have enough milk, she'll drink formula..."
The nurse had a lot of things to say about newborn care, but now she could only tell Xu Ruantang and Chen Ji.
She knew the two were family members, but didn't know their exact relationship, so she went to the ward with them anyway.
Fortunately, when the precautions were explained along the way, the two of them listened very attentively.
Xu Ruantang carried the child inside, just as Ye Lan returned with water.
She was stunned for a moment when she saw the child in Xu Ruantang's arms, then slapped her thigh hard, her voice full of regret: "Oh no! I forgot about my grandson!"
Although the production process was perilous, the result was good.
With the matter settled, everyone immediately felt relieved.
Xu Ruantang jokingly said, "Mom, you still remember your child? You all left so fast, the nurse was practically chasing after you."
The older brother was even more speechless, as he bumped into the nurse, making her spin around.
After Tang Wan was settled in and fell asleep, everyone gathered around to look at the baby.
“Those big eyes look like my daughter’s.”
"That big face looks just like my son!"
"Oh, Grandma's adorable great-grandson, he's so handsome."
Fortunately, my older brother and sister-in-law had done their research in advance and bought baby bottles and formula beforehand.
Following the nurse's instructions, Xu Ruantang prepared the formula while verbally demonstrating the process to Chen Zheng.
After listening, Chen Zheng still looked at a loss.
While breastfeeding, I almost shoved the nipple up my baby's nose.
It's not that I'm stupid, it's that I'm nervous.
Xu Ruantang wanted to laugh as she watched, recalling how helpless Chen Ji had been when taking care of the child.
When she first arrived at Dahe Village, Chen Ji patted Xiao Bao's back with a loud thud.
If Xiao Bao could talk, he would probably tell Chen Ji to stop hitting him.
She couldn't help but almost burst out laughing.
Chen Ji stood beside her and gently squeezed her hand.
The whole family stayed in the ward and refused to leave. Chen Ji and Xu Ruantang bought dinner from outside.
Ye Lan originally wanted to go home and make soup, but the doctor instructed that Tang Wan should fast.
You can't eat anything before you fart; they say the earliest you can eat is the next morning.
The little one was very energetic from birth and drank milk very quickly.
You can tell at a glance that you have a short temper.
People were still discussing outside the ward that even though they were both slow-paced parents, their child turned out to be an impatient one.
The conversation then turned to Xu Ruantang and Chen Ji.
Ye Lan clasped her hands together and prayed to God: "God, please give the Chen family a soft and gentle daughter!"
Xu Ruantang and Chen Ji returned from getting their food and happened to witness this scene.
Xu Ruantang smiled at Chen Ji, originally intending to joke with him, but then noticed that his expression was a little off.
"What's wrong?"
They were perfectly fine when I bought the food.
Chen Ji composed himself and shook his head at her, "It's nothing, I'm just a little tired."
Xu Ruantang almost laughed.
It turns out that Chen Ji also gets tired sometimes; hearing that word from him is like climbing to heaven.
So after dinner, Chen Zheng insisted on staying to keep him company at the bedside.
Tang Wan's mother said that he was a grown man and should keep it for himself, but he wouldn't listen.
Ye Lan said she and Chen Zheng would stay together, but Chen Zheng unusually objected, insisting on staying on his own.
After some discussion, they finally reached an agreement.
Chen Zheng kept it for himself that night, and Ye Lan would come to exchange it early the next morning.
When the child was born safely, Chen Ji told Xu Hanli to go back.
Chen Ji and Xu Ruantang first escorted Ye Lan and the old lady home, and then the two of them slowly walked back to the courtyard.
It was late, and there was hardly anyone walking around in the courtyard. Xu Ruantang and Chen Ji walked side by side.
As they walked, Chen Ji quietly took Xu Ruantang's hand.
Xu Ruantang did not want to.
