Chapter 45 Happiness in the Second Half of Life

Chen Ji noticed that Xu Ruantang seemed to be avoiding him today, always making various excuses to avoid being with him.

Before he could think much about it, Xu Hanli spoke up, "Old Chen, how about we go to the city for dinner tonight?"

It was already a great inconvenience that they stayed for dinner; it was food for several people, and I guess Old Chen didn't want Comrade Xu to have to go through that trouble.

"Let's eat." Xu Ruantang lifted the curtain and walked in, carrying a plate of dishes.

Cheng Dan smiled and agreed, then walked to the table and plopped down next to Chen Ji.

Xu Ruantang picked up Xiaobao and then noticed that the expressions on the faces of the others were all different.

"Chen Ji, there are still a few dishes left in the kitchen."

Even dogs know not to bother people who are eating, and Xu Ruantang certainly didn't want to cause any trouble while eating.

Chen Ji immediately stood up. "I'll go get it."

He had just gotten up from his seat when Cheng Dan stood up as well. "I'll go with you."

Fearing that Chen Ji would refuse, Cheng Dan left the room first.
