Chapter 191 You Say I Believe

After bidding farewell to the equipment department's convoy, Chen Yuefei excitedly led Jiang Yun to ride in a large truck.

The two comrades sitting in the driver's seat looked over and said, "Hey! Second Squad Leader, you traded a sheep for a female soldier?"

Chen Yuefei spit out a mouthful of disgust. "Shut up! What are you yelling about?! This is a relative of ours. She ran away wearing someone's military uniform and got lost. Luckily, she met someone who brought her here."

Wang Feng, the car soldier, pooh-poohed back, "What relative?! I think you're not a good person!"

Chen Yuefei tugged at the sleeves and hem of Jiang Yun's military coat. "Look at it! It's sagging! Look, it's dragging on the floor! I'll take her to the back and sit there. Now let's go to the yurt we saw at the beginning and trade the sheep with the villagers for some food."

Chen Yuefei climbed onto the carriage first, then dragged Jiang Yun aboard. "There's no canopy, and the dirt is thick. Just bear with it for half an hour."

He pointed to the two sheep on the floor of the carriage and said, "We don't know how to clean them up. We probably won't be able to get back to the company in the next two or three days. If we leave them here, the smell will be terrible!"

After the car started moving, Jiang Jun finally understood why Chen Yuefei said the soil was strong instead of the wind.

They sat on the floor of the carriage with their backs against the cab, trying their best to tuck their heads into the collars of their military coats, but the dusty wind still made it impossible to open their eyes.

The wind was whistling and the cars were roaring. Jiang Jun wanted to say a few words to Chen Yuefei but couldn't. He could only curl up into a ball, burying his face in his collar, trying to keep his breathing steady and trying his best to prevent his body from being bumped against the side of the car.

The escort vehicles of Chen Zhenbao's fleet are equipped with bulletproof steel plates on all sides. They are heavy and have a low chassis, so they can drive on hilly areas as if on flat ground, so there is no bumpiness when sitting in them.

Comparing the before and after, Jiang Jun felt that this half hour seemed as long as half a day.

When the truck finally stopped, Jiang Jun looked up and saw Chen Yuefei wrapped in a military blanket. It was impossible to tell that there was a layer of yellow dust on the green blanket. He grinned and asked, "Why aren't you wearing a cotton hat?"

Chen Yuefei wore only a short jacket and a single cap underneath his military uniform. He pushed back his quilt, licked the dirt off his lips, and spat a few times outside the car. When the sand stopped pricking his teeth, he smiled and said, "It's not cold during the day; it's quite warm. With this recent gust of wind, it'll be cold at night."

After saying that, he stood up with his hands, looked at the yurt a few steps away, kicked the two wild goats on the carriage board out, and shouted: "Wang Feng, Jida, come and pick them up."

The two wild sheep were quite large, and Wang Fengjida carried one each to the yurt.

Chen Yuefei then asked Jiang Jun, "Captain Chen said you can't jump hard, what's the matter? Is your foot injured? I see you walking normally."

Jiang Jun shook his head. "Let's not talk about this for now. I want to ask a fellow villager for a set of clothes, but I don't want to show my face. Can you help me get it? Just say I borrowed it and return it to them later."

Chen Yuefei said without hesitation: "Okay!"

I don't know what Chen Yuefei said, but he quickly brought over a set of clothes: "That woman is taller than you, and her robe is a bit big, so just make do with it!"

Jiang Jun didn't take the clothes, but stretched his head to look around: "Where are your two comrades?"

Chen Yuefei whispered, "They're helping the herdsmen slaughter sheep and roasting some mutton to take away. If you have anything to say, just tell me right here."

Jiang Jun raised his eyes and looked at Chen Yuefei carefully.

After not seeing him for two months, Chen Yuefei seemed to have grown taller, and looked darker and thinner, like a Black King Kong, with bright eyes. He was no longer the naughty monkey who was eager to hide in the stove, but had a bit of the style of a scout.

"Thank you!" Jiang Jun smiled gratefully and got straight to the point: "My dad's in trouble, and I came to the grassland to find someone to save him."

Chen Yuefei's eyes widened, and he spoke nervously, "What happened to your father on the grassland? Where? When? How do you want to save him?"

Jiang Jun could only shake his head. "I don't know where he is, or when the incident happened! I only know he's not dead yet. I came to the grasslands to find a deity who can extend people's lives. He will definitely keep my father alive."

Chen Yuefei suddenly felt that his brain was not enough: "God? There are gods in this world? Where are you going to find gods?"

Jiang Jun only remembered the general direction: "I don't know if he's still there. If he's not there when I get there, I'll ask someone else."

Chen Yuefei tried hard to find the connection between Jiang Jun's words: "You want someone who doesn't know where to save another person who doesn't know where to go!"

What does this have to do with anything?

Jiang Jun took a deep breath, closed his eyes, and organized his words in his mind, trying to make them clear. "My dad was on a mission, something went wrong, and he's been locked up. Your brother said he'd be implicated and die, but I saw a deity on the grassland who can extend people's lives, so I came here to ask the deity to save my dad!"

Chen Yuefei nodded, indicating that he understood: "Then where are you going to find him? How can I help you?"

Jiang Jun was stunned: "Do you believe what I said?"

Chen Yuefei grinned: "If others say it, I don't believe it. If you say it, I believe it!"

Jiang Jun's eyes welled up, and he paused for a long moment before finally speaking. "The last time I went to the horse ranch with the communications company, I heard that he lived in a Lama temple with a well in the winter."

"There's a well nearby, but no temple. I heard that most of the temples on the grasslands have been driven out and are deserted."

"I heard that the well is magical and doesn't freeze in winter."

"Is that so? Then we can definitely find out. Just like that Jida from earlier, his family is herders. He's our company's messenger. There's nothing he doesn't know about the grasslands."

Jiang Jun's eyes welled up as he clasped his hands together, "Oh my God, this is wonderful! After searching so hard for so long, I finally found it without any effort!"

Chen Yuefei laughed, "You're even reciting poetry, just like my brother. By the way, why did my brother ask them to bring you here? When did you two meet?"

Jiang Jun sniffed and decided to tell part of the truth first: "I was commissioned to attend the military academy, and it just so happened that your brother also got the exam. I ran away secretly and lied to your brother's comrades. They thought I was really sick."

Chen Yuefei chuckled, revealing his youthful innocence again: "Look how clever I am, I didn't say you were my comrade, nor did I say you were my classmate!

The day before yesterday, we received a mission from our superiors saying that a spy was about to escape across the border, so we have been searching along the border for the past few days. You just said that your father was in trouble, which scared me. I thought, I thought... Hey, luckily it wasn't the case! "

Jiang Yun's nose felt sore and she raised her hands to rub her eyes, but the dust on her hands made her tears flow more and more, and she blinked repeatedly in discomfort.

Chen Yuefei grabbed Jiang Yun's wrist and said, "Stop rubbing it. Let me blow it for you!"
