Chapter 192 Don’t Talk Nonsense

Chen Yuefei half-knelt in front of Jiang Yun, prying open her eyelids with one hand. There was a speck of black dust on her pink eyelids. With the other hand, he took Jiang Yun's handkerchief and gently wiped the dust off:

"Look, it's out. Blink again and see if there's any more."

Jiang Jun squeezed his eyes hard and said, "There seems to be some sand here."

Chen Yuefei followed his instructions and pried open Jiang Yun's other eye to check. It was dark and the two people's heads were very close to each other.

Wang Feng came out with a plate of roasted lamb legs and said to Jida, "Look, this is a relative? Can you believe it?"

Jida smiled innocently: "If the Second Squad Leader says we are relatives, then we are relatives."

Wang Feng looked at Jida with disdain, curled his lips, and put the plate in his hand on the floor at the rear of the car: "Second squad leader, you need to eat a full meal to have strength!"

Chen Yuefei was petrified for a moment, then turned to Wang Feng and gritted his teeth, "Go to hell! One day I'll cut off your tongue and roast it!"

Jida stepped forward and raised the bowl in his hand: "Second squad leader, the milk tea is freshly brewed, drink it while it's hot."

Chen Yuefei stuffed the handkerchief into Jiang Yun's hand: "Have some milk tea and some mutton. I'll go downstairs and eat with them. I'll be back soon."

Jiang Jun watched the three of them enter the yurt together. He didn't care about the dust everywhere and took off his military uniform as quietly as possible. He turned the collar of his shirt inside out and tucked it in. Then he put on his robe, tied a handkerchief around his neck, and put on his military coat and buttoned it up.

Suddenly he remembered that he had a military cap inside his cotton hat, so he quickly took it off, rolled it up together with his military uniform and stuffed it into his shoulder bag.

I breathed a sigh of relief, moved to the back of the car, picked up the milk tea and drank it in big gulps, ate a few pieces of mutton, and finally felt better.

It’s hot and a little salty, that’s what a meal is.

Chen Yuefei finished his meal quickly and ran out: "You sit in the driver's seat, Jida and I will sit in the back. We have to continue patrolling now."

Jiang Jun was a little anxious: "Have you asked Jida?"

Chen Yuefei nodded: "Ask him when you get in the car. I'm afraid that fellow villager will hear me. I just told him that you have an infectious disease and we need to take you to the hospital."

Jiang Jun gave a thumbs up: "Thank you!"

Chen Yuefei waved, "Be careful, I'll help you down." He took the opportunity to whisper, "Just say you're living at our house and call my mom your aunt. Don't get anything off the track! Wang Feng is a big talker and loves to talk nonsense. If he asks you something, just pretend to be shy and ignore him."

Jiang Jun gritted his teeth: "If you're shy, just be shy. Why do you have to pretend?"

Chen Yuefei smiled secretly and helped Jiang Yun to sit in the driver's seat.

The sky was gloomy, and Jiang Jun's mood was also a little heavy.

In this kind of weather, the wind raised a cloud of dust wherever it passed. Without the help of a compass, she had no way of telling the direction.

He simply raised the collar of his military coat to cover half of his face, closed his eyes, and tried to feel whether he was closer or farther away from Qu Renjie.

The truck was driving unsteadily, and Wang Feng kept glancing at Jiang Jun, looking for an opportunity to strike up a conversation.

He looked at Jiang Jun who was dozing with his eyes closed. It was obvious that he was deliberately ignoring him. He got angry and slammed on the brakes.

Jiang Jun was caught off guard and his forehead hit the windshield hard, and his head was buzzing.

Chen Yuefei was also knocked down by the brakes. He got up angrily and slammed the roof of the cab: "What are you doing? Do you know how to drive?"

Wang Feng smiled triumphantly, released the brake and stepped on the accelerator.

All I could hear was the sound of the belt turning, but the motor wouldn't start and the truck wouldn't move.

Wang Feng got out of the car and tried to do it for a long time but to no avail.

The car stalled completely.

Chen Yuefei was so angry that he kicked the front wheel: "You want to sleep on the grassland tonight? Look at these dark clouds. Jida said there will be strong winds tonight, strong winds that can blow away cars!"

There was no village or shop nearby, and it would take a whole day to call for help from comrades using a radio.

Jiang Jun was more anxious than anyone else after hearing Chen Yuefei's words. She simply couldn't afford to delay any longer. She clutched her swollen forehead, endured the pungent smell of diesel, and walked up to Chen Yuefei and said, "I've seen the company commander of the motor company repair a car. Let me take a look."

The workings of an internal combustion engine were a piece of cake for Jiang Yun. For any traveler who wanted to cross a desert or the sea alone, the ability to repair vehicles was a must-have skill.

The structure of early large trucks was much simpler than Jiang Yun had imagined.

She checked everything and instructed Wang Feng to reset the clutch brake lever and clear the fuel injector. Wang Feng took the hand crank and turned it hard, and the motor started.

Jiang Jun was already feeling dizzy, and the smell of burning low-purity diesel made her run to the side and retch.

Wang Feng quietly nudged Chen Yuefei: "What's wrong with your relative? He can fix cars and take pictures of gasoline smells?"

Chen Yuefei glared at him: "I'm disgusted by you!"

Jiang Jun avoided the black smoke coming out of the rear of the car, only to feel his neck being pulled so hard that he couldn't move. He probably got hurt when he braked suddenly.

Wang Feng couldn't save face. He was usually the only one who took advantage of others verbally: "Didn't you say she ran away? Why didn't she steal a car?"

Jiang Jun just happened to hear: "Okay, I'll steal your car!"

Chen Yuefei's eyes lit up: "Can you drive?"

Jiang Jun shook his head: "No!"

This kind of large military truck has a very heavy steering wheel and requires a clutch. Jiang Yun knew that he couldn't control it. On the prairie, there was no other place to refuel except the military gas station.

Wang Feng said angrily: "Alright, don't be polite! Get in the car, you show me the way, I'll go wherever you say!"

Jiang Jun bit her nails and turned to look at Chen Yuefei: "Really?"

Chen Yuefei looked at Jida and said, "She wants to go to the sacred well that never freezes in winter to seek healing from the gods. Do you know where it is?"

Jida pointed to the horizon and said, "I know. If the car doesn't break down, we can walk all the way without taking a break during the day. We can reach the destination in two days!"

Jiang Jun's heart skipped a beat. It was one day shorter than the three days she'd expected. "Where's the farthest you can put me?"

Chen Yuefei looked at Jida and asked, "Where can I find someone to take her there?"

Jida looked at Jiang Jun and said, "Uncle Qu doesn't see people easily. If he hadn't promised to treat you, I'm afraid you wouldn't be able to see anyone."

Chen Yuefei kicked Jida and said, "Stop talking nonsense. It's not your decision whether to meet or not. You just said where we can meet."

Gilda rubbed the back of his head: "Let me think about it."

Wang Feng was more curious about Qu Renjie than Jiang Jun, and he wanted to go see her too. "We still have two or three days before we get back to the company, so I can take her there! A fellow villager is sick, so it's only right that we take her to see a doctor."

Of course Jiang Jun is willing, but what about Chen Yuefei and the others’ mission?

Wang Feng pointed at the dust in the distance and said, "Look, with such a strong wind, there really are spies. They must have frozen to death at night. We just need to wait and pick up their bodies. Hey, look, there really is a person lying on the ground over there!"
