Chapter 20 Response

Wen Ruan felt confused and didn't know how to answer. Logically speaking, if she met a man who was so outstanding in appearance, ability, and family background in modern times, she would definitely try to win him over. But here, she hesitated.

Song Yan is no ordinary person; after all, he is the male lead. Logically speaking, no matter how things develop, the male lead should belong to the female lead. However, Wen Ruan is somewhat unwilling to let go of such an exceptional man.

Wen Ruan was somewhat conflicted, looking down and fiddling with her fingers.

Song Yan noticed that Wen Ruan seemed to have some concerns, but he didn't force her to say anything. He simply reached out and hugged her.

Wen Ruan felt a pair of warm hands, awkwardly stroking her back, as if to comfort her, and then they hugged her tightly.

In that instant, she felt as if her heart was filled with something, an invisible emotion enveloping and binding her. Wen Ruan tried to ignore the feeling, but it lingered.

She didn't dare to think too much about her feelings, so she simply gave up.

"You're not taking the meat that's been delivered to your door? What are you thinking? Wen Xiaoruan, when did you become such a virtuous woman? Besides, you two are legally married. You're licensed to work, so what are you afraid of? He's your husband, and now he's your property. Just protect your feelings."

"If all else fails, just give it to the female lead when she comes back. It's just a man. Brave people enjoy the world. The sooner you use it, the sooner you can enjoy it!" Wen Ruan thought to herself, suddenly feeling as if she had a sudden enlightenment.

"Give it a try," Wen Ruan said softly.

Song Yan didn't quite hear it, but it seemed like he heard something else. He put his hands on Wen Ruan's shoulders and stared at her intently, wanting her to say it again.

I said, let's give it a try.

Song Yan's eyes suddenly lit up, and he picked Wen Ruan up in his arms, startling her so much that she almost screamed. She kept saying, "Thank you, Ruan Ruan, thank you for giving me another chance." Then he hugged her tightly, almost melding her into his body.

......

Before long, it was time for Wen Ruan to return to her parents' home. Yesterday, Song's mother spent the whole afternoon preparing gifts for the return visit: five catties of pork, two packs of cigarettes, two bottles of wine, and since the Mid-Autumn Festival was approaching, there was also a box of mooncakes. Some dried seafood that Song Heng brought back from the market during his holiday was also included. The gifts for the return visit were very presentable.

The two houses were not far apart. Song Yan rode his bicycle with Wen Ruan on the back, and they arrived at the family compound in about ten minutes. On the way, they met some of Wen's neighbors, who all greeted the young couple very warmly.

The elderly couple were quite unaccustomed to their daughter getting married. The sudden loss of such a person in the family made them miss her dearly, thinking of her several times a day, as if a piece of their hearts was empty.

Wen Ruan's return home happened to fall on a Sunday, so Wen's parents didn't have to work. The elderly couple got up early to tidy up the house, waiting for their daughter and new son-in-law to return. For the past two days, they had been tossing and turning at night, worried that their daughter wouldn't adapt well to the Song family.

"Dad! Mom! We're back!" Wen Ruan called out as soon as she entered the house.

Mr. and Mrs. Wen hurriedly came out to greet the two of them as they entered the house. Mrs. Wen held onto Wen Ruan tightly, telling Mr. Wen to stay in the living room and keep her son-in-law company, while she led Wen Ruan back to their room. Mr. Wen watched expectantly as his wife led their daughter away.

When Wen Ruan entered the room, she found that her room had not changed at all; it was exactly the same as when she left.

"After you get married, when Mom misses you, she'll come to your room to check on you, tidy up, and clean. Don't worry, this room will always be yours, and you'll always have a place in our family. If you miss your parents, bring Song Yan back to stay for a few days." As she spoke, Wen's mother was on the verge of tears again.

Wen Ruan was deeply moved and hugged her mother's arm, saying, "Thank you, Mom!"

The two finally composed themselves, and Wen's mother hurriedly began to inquire about Wen Ruan's condition over the past few days. When she heard that Wen Ruan was doing well at the Song family, had not suffered any grievances, and did not even need to do housework, as the Song brothers had taken care of everything, she was somewhat surprised. However, considering that her mother-in-law was a young lady from a wealthy family, it was normal for her not to know how to do these housework. But she did not expect that her daughter would benefit from it, and she was very satisfied and finally felt relieved.

Afterwards, Wen's mother instructed Wen Ruan, "You two are both so young, but you must be moderate. You can't let Song Yan do whatever he wants. Your small body won't be able to handle it if you go too far." Wen Ruan blushed with embarrassment. The two of them hadn't consummated their marriage yet, and she didn't know how to respond, so she could only listen to her mother's words and nod repeatedly.

......

The young couple, Wen and Ruan, enjoyed a happy homecoming banquet with their parents. The elderly couple told them to rest for lunch and then return to the Song family home in the afternoon.

After lunch, the four of them chatted for a while before preparing for a nap.

Wen Ruan led Song Yan into her room for a nap. Wen Ruan's bed was relatively small, more than enough for her alone, but it would be very crowded for two people, especially with Song Yan's large size.

Wen Ruan didn't say anything and lay down on the bed to prepare for a nap. Seeing Song Yan still standing there in a daze, she said impatiently, "What are you going to do if you're not going to rest?"

Song Yan was pleasantly surprised. He took off his shoes and lay down on the bed. Since the bed was a bit small, Song Yan could only turn to face Wen Ruan. He then tentatively put his arm around her slender waist. Seeing that she didn't react much, he pulled her into his arms.

Wen Ruan felt that Song Yan's body was stiff and his fingers, which were wrapped around her waist, were long and strong.

Afterwards, as they listened quietly to each other's heartbeats, they gradually relaxed and fell asleep.
