"Okay, don't be angry, let's go home."
Hua Li was exhausted and just wanted to go home, take a shower, and get some sleep.
Luo Shicheng glanced at the setting sun and shook his head.
"There are tigers in the mountains, it's not safe to travel at night. We have to wait until the sun comes up tomorrow before we set off..."
Spending the night in the terrifying depths of the mountains? Hua Li was devastated.
Luo Shicheng didn't plan to let the adult and two children stay in the wooden house. Instead, before it got completely dark, he built a hut in the tree using branches and vines.
After climbing down from the tree, Luo Shicheng busied himself with cooking.
The cabin contains cooking utensils and a stove. Because it is a newly built cabin, the stove is kept burning constantly to dry the wood.
Luo Shicheng took a knife, cut off the wild boar's leg, skinned it, washed it clean, cut it into pieces, and stewed it.
There's rice in the kitchen, so we'll cook some rice in a pot. We'll also pick some wood ear mushrooms around the cabin, blanch the wood ear mushrooms, and stir-fry the mushrooms. Dinner will be a delicious combination of meat and vegetables.
The conditions were simple, with no tables or chairs. The four of them each had a bowl of rice and stood around the pot to eat meat and vegetables.
After the meal, Luo Shicheng helped the adult and two children up a tree to sleep in the shed.
Hua Li grabbed Luo Shicheng, who was about to climb down the tree, and asked, "Where are you going?"
Luo Shicheng said gently, "I have to keep an eye on the next six."
Building a wooden cabin deep in the mountains, having a gun even though he's not a hunter—these are all problems, so he has to bring the person back alive.
Hua Li knew she couldn't help, so she let go of Luo Shicheng's hand and told him to be careful.
As soon as Luo Shicheng climbed down the tree, Hua Li immediately put on a stern face and asked Luo Yan.
How did you get here?
Luo Yan looked innocent. "Dad."
Hearing this, Luo Shicheng, who was sliding down the tree trunk, almost fell off the tree.
She's such a good daughter; she knows who's safest to take the blame for, but she doesn't care whether her father lives or dies.
After climbing down the tree, Luo Shicheng dragged the four corpses to the back of the house, dug a deep pit, buried them, and marked the spot to prevent wild animals from eating them.
They went back to the cabin, removed the other three legs of the wild boar, carried them away, and hid them.
After finishing his work, Luo Shicheng went back to his room, closed all the doors and windows, and sat down in the only armchair in the room to rest.
The six people lying against the wall were still fast asleep, and Luo Shicheng's breathing gradually slowed down.
A figure silently approached the door and peered inside through the window.
He raised his Browning rifle, pointed the muzzle at Luo Shicheng who was sitting in the chair, and slowly pulled the trigger.
Whoosh! Whoosh!
Two pebbles struck the shadowy figure's wrist and temple, respectively.
The dark figure fell backward, the gun in its hand falling to the ground and gleaming silver in the moonlight.
Luo Shicheng came out of the door, glanced at Luo Yan who was perched on a tree branch outside the shack, picked up his gun, dragged her into the house, and casually locked the door.
The night was long and Luo Shicheng was very bored, so he decided to tie people up and torture them to relieve his boredom.
When the sun rose, all seven people in the room stared in terror. Luo Shicheng was so frightened that he wet himself as soon as he got close.
Luo Shicheng prepared breakfast and stood under the tree calling for one adult and two children to come down and eat.
Xiao Xiu and Luo Yan nimbly slid down the tree, but Hua Li, who was afraid of heights, couldn't get down without Luo Shicheng's help, so Luo Shicheng had to climb up and carry her down.
To ensure there would be no problems on the way, Luo Yan poured four bowls of spiritual spring water while Luo Shicheng was carrying Hua Li down from the tree.
Xiao Xiu, needless to say, picked up his bowl and drank it all. Luo Yan also drank from her bowl, and Luo Shicheng and Hua Li each had a bowl.
Although Luo Shicheng didn't know why Luo Yan poured him water first thing in the morning, he knew his own daughter was definitely on his side, so he drank it all in one gulp.
The food was leftovers from last night, and it tasted pretty good after being heated up.
After they finished eating, Luo Shicheng pushed the seven men, who were strung together, out the door. They had two rifles hanging on their bodies and a Browning pistol in their hands.
Luo Shicheng gave the remaining rifle to Hua Li and taught him how to use it.
Luo Shicheng was in charge of leading the way, Hua Li brought up the rear, and Luo Yan and Xiao Xiu were instructed by Luo Shicheng to walk in front of Hua Li.
Luo Yan disliked the low view, seeing only tree roots and grass, so she randomly picked a tied-up person, climbed up, and rode on his neck.
Scarface had never been so humiliated in his life. He was knocked unconscious after assassinating Luo Shicheng, tortured so severely that he wet his pants, and even had his neck ridden on during the transport.
"Get out of here!" Scarface finally snapped.
Why is this mount so disobedient? Luo Yan punched Scarface in the eye socket with her little fist, leaving one eye black and blue.
Scarface roared defiantly, "I told you to get out of here!"
Luo Yan was hit twice more, resulting in panda eyes and a nosebleed.
I thought Luo Shicheng was the most ruthless, but I didn't expect the little brat to be even more ruthless than Luo Shicheng. Scarface became obedient and shut his mouth, letting me ride him as I pleased.
Since the baby couldn't walk, finding a mount to ride was perfectly fine, and Luo Shicheng didn't stop him at all.
Unable to run back, they climbed over five hills step by step, and the group didn't reach the foot of Rooster Mountain until the afternoon.
Luo Shicheng and his entire family have gone missing, but the military continues a thorough search of Gongji Mountain.
When everyone discovered that Luo Shicheng and his family of four had not only apprehended seven suspects but had also returned safely, they cheered with joy.
Luo Shicheng interrogated Hua Li and the two children all night and obtained many important confessions, which had to be reported immediately. He had no choice but to hand them over to Chen Yuanshan, who had rushed over after hearing the news.
Chen Yuanshan searched for the two children all night long, his eyes were bloodshot from exhaustion.
Chen Yuanshan picked up Luo Yan and Xiao Xiu, kissing each of them with such force that it looked like he was about to bite them.
Back home, Hua Li saw Chen Yuanshan off, went back inside to boil water for Luo Yan and Xiao Xiu to take a bath, and then took a bath herself. She found that she wasn't tired at all and felt quite energetic.
Hua Li was surprised by the change in her physique and made up her mind that she must learn to protect herself and the two little ones.
That evening, Luo Shicheng did not return. He only sent someone to bring back half a wild boar leg. Hua Li cut some meat, stewed it, and gave some to the neighbors on both sides. The rest was made into cured meat and put into the cellar.
