Chapter 143 Proposal

The bachelor felt a sharp pain in his wrist, and the knife slipped from his hand and fell to the ground. Looking down, he saw a small pebble rolling to the ground.

Luo Shicheng took down eight men, leaving the previously aggressive bachelors utterly powerless to fight back.

I never expected my dad to be so selfish; she only threw one pebble and then there was nothing left to throw.

Luo Yan, still wanting more, put the pebbles back into her bag, then leaped lightly off the wall and stood at the entrance of the alley.

The daughter wanted to have more fun, and the old father had to grant her wish, so Luo Shicheng grabbed the bachelor by the collar and declared.

"As long as my daughter lets you go, I will not stop you."

The eight people lying on the ground had no intention of saving the bachelor; they got up and only wanted to leave.

Luo Yan, with her hair in two small buns, wore a bubble dress and carried a crossbody bag. She stood in the middle of the alley, her small figure shrouded in the shadows cast by the high walls on both sides, looking as if a single finger could knock her over.

The eight people rushed over at once, but upon reaching them, they screamed and collapsed to the ground, startling Luo Yan.

Luo Yan raised her little fist and gave each of them a tap on the head. It didn't hurt, but the eight of them coordinated by tilting their heads, sticking out their tongues, and rolling their eyes.

Luo Yan, bored...

The bachelor watched as the little guy, who wasn't even as tall as his legs, single-handedly took down eight strong men, and collapsed to the ground in despair.

"Luo Shicheng, I lost, I admit defeat."

A man who is 1.8 meters tall cried like a dog.

He didn't really lose to Luo Shicheng, but he truly lost because he couldn't produce such a capable daughter.

"I'll never beat you in this lifetime, unless I have a granddaughter."

If he then has his son find a wife who can fight and have a granddaughter who can fight, perhaps he will still have a chance to turn the tide.

Thinking of this bachelor, he seemed to see hope again, and a brilliant idea flashed into his mind.

"Luo Shicheng, let's become in-laws. Just name your dowry."

Luo Shicheng kicked the shameless bachelor away, yelling, "You dare to covet my daughter? You're asking for death!"

The bachelor crawled back, howling like a ghost, and clung to Luo Shicheng's leg.

"For my grandson's sake, even if you kill me, this marriage must go through."

This is Stockholm syndrome! Why does he still insist on marrying into the family? Luo Yan walked up to the bachelor and examined him closely. It seems so, tsk tsk.

The bachelor liked Luo Yan more and more as he looked at her. "Daughter-in-law, I'll give you five thousand, oh no, ten thousand as a betrothal gift. You can live at my house from now on, and I'll take care of you, how about that?"

Having eaten the heart of a bear and dared to abduct his daughter, Luo Shicheng knocked the bachelor unconscious with a single punch, picked up Luo Yan, and left with a travel bag.

When they passed by the eight people on the ground, the eight people were so scared that they almost peed their pants and quickly moved aside.

It was just a minor incident, and Luo Shicheng continued to carry Luo Yan around.

Actually, there was another reason why Luo Shicheng walked home: he happened to pass by Sun Bailing's courtyard on his way back from the hospital, and he wanted to go and check on the situation.

Being able to travel from the original world to this place and see the old Beijing from decades ago, Luo Yan looked around with great curiosity.

Regardless of whether Luo Yan understood or not, Luo Shicheng told her about historical sites and local anecdotes as they walked. His deep, magnetic voice, accompanied by the chirping of cicadas, was very pleasant to listen to, and Luo Yan listened with great interest.

Upon arriving near the courtyard registered under Sun Bailing's name, Luo Shicheng first went to the subdistrict office and presented the property deed to verify the information.

After the staff checked and found no problems, they re-registered the property and returned the deed to Luo Shicheng.

"That courtyard is occupied, why did it take you so long to come and check, you homeowner?"

Luo Shicheng quickly composed himself, his expression becoming calm.

“That’s my nephew. He came to Beijing and had nowhere to stay, so he’s temporarily staying here for a few days.”

The staff member exclaimed, "You must be quite old, over thirty years old, and we still have to call you uncle."

After leaving the subdistrict office, Luo Shicheng arrived at No. 231 Heli Street. The main gate under the carved gatehouse was tightly closed, but the side gate was unlocked, so there must be someone inside.

There was no plaque above the door, so she didn't know if this was really the Shen residence. Luo Yan pointed to the door and patted herself.

Luo Shicheng frowned. "No, that's too risky."

Luo Yan, "Shui Shui".

I have a space; if there's danger, I can go into my space and I'll be perfectly safe.

Luo Yan's space with its own spiritual spring water was indeed magical, but Luo Shicheng dared not let Luo Yan take any risks.

As the father and daughter were arguing, the side door of No. 231 Heli Street opened, and a tall, thin man in his thirties walked out with a cigarette in his mouth and locked the door behind him.

Luo Yan pointed at the man and then at Luo Shicheng, saying, "You go and follow them; I'll go into the courtyard and check."

A boy in his early twenties kept glancing in Luo Shicheng's direction from a distance. Luo Shicheng gestured to the boy and pointed to the tall, thin man walking away. The boy immediately followed him. Then, Luo Shicheng carried Luo Yan to the side gate.

Why are all of Dad's men here? Luo Yan was stunned.

Luo Shicheng clicked his tongue and placed Luo Yan's hand on the door lock.

Luo Yan snapped out of her daze. Did her dad know she broke the lock on the train? Luo Yan obediently grabbed the lock with both of her little hands and broke it.

Although he knew his daughter was extraordinary, Luo Shicheng was still quite proud of her.

Pushing open the door, Luo Shicheng carried Luo Yan inside with an air of nonchalance.

The courtyard wasn't very big; it was a standard siheyuan (traditional courtyard house), with several banana trees growing lushly in the center.

The main house was locked, the west wing was also locked, but the east wing was unlocked.

Luo Shicheng went straight to the east wing, pushed open the door, and found obvious signs of daily life inside, with a broken bowl on the table full of cigarette butts.

After searching the room and finding no one else, Luo Yan was somewhat disappointed.

After leaving the house, Luo Shicheng planned to take Luo Yan home first, but Luo Yan pointed to a pile of weeds by the wall and showed it to Luo Shicheng.

Luo Shicheng walked over and used his foot to push aside the weeds, revealing a tattered plaque inside with two large characters on it: "Chen Zhai" (沉宅).

She was right. This place really is a secluded mansion. Luo Yan, "TaeTae, TaeTae."

Luo Shicheng, "You mean Xu Tai used to live here?"

It's not "in the past" but "in the future," except that you've arrested him ahead of time, so he can't stay here anymore.

Luo Yan shook her head, and Luo Shicheng frowned. "You mean Xu Tai's son, Cheng Yichen, might be living here?"

Luo Yan nodded.

Luo Shicheng frowned and looked around. "Could there be a secret room here?"

On the surface, no one else lives here, but what if there's a secret room? Luo Shicheng plans to send Luo Yan home first and then come back to investigate properly.

As Luo Shicheng walked through the courtyard to the side gate, he opened the door and bumped into a tall, thin man carrying a lunchbox.

"Who are you? How did you get in?" the tall, thin man demanded sharply.

Without saying a word, Luo Shicheng punched the tall, thin man in the stomach, grabbed the man by the hair, and dragged him inside.

The boy who had been following Luo Shicheng's orders from afar clutched his stomach and silently shrank back behind the wall.

Without saying a word, Luo Shicheng beat the man up, leaving him unable to get up.

"Who do you live with?" Luo Shicheng asked the man in a gloomy voice.

The man lay on the ground pretending to be dead, and Luo Shicheng kicked him a few more times.

The man refused to say anything, so Luo Yan patted Luo Shicheng, who then put Luo Yan on the ground.
