Hua Li had just closed the courtyard gate when she heard a knock. When she opened it, it was Mo Xian.
Mo Xian got straight to the point, "I found out about Xu Tai, whom you asked me to inquire about. I haven't found out if he has had any contact with Liu Jingqiu yet, but he has already returned to Jiangcheng and is temporarily staying at No. 123, Sugar Factory Residence."
Hua Li was very grateful to Mo Xian for being so quick. She asked Mo Xian to wait a moment, then went inside and brought out a bowl of braised pork that she had set aside for him.
Mo Xian refused to accept it, Hua Li said.
"This was specially left out. We've all finished eating, and it's so hot outside. If you don't put it away, it will spoil tomorrow."
These days, people are willing to bleed but wouldn't let food spoil, so Mo Xian thanked him and accepted the food.
Not wanting Mo Xian to feel obligated to return the favor, Hua Li took the initiative to speak.
"The grapes my sister-in-law gave me last time made delicious grape juice. If you still have any, could you give me some more?"
Wu Cuihua's two grapevines were terribly sour, yet Hua Li actually liked them, and Mo Xian nodded repeatedly in approval.
"Okay, I'll have the third brother pick some and bring them over in a bit."
Mo Xian brought home braised pork, and Wu Cuihua, who was tidying up, spoke sarcastically.
"Oh, so you're determined to divorce me now, not even hiding it anymore. You're giving me meat today, what will you give me tomorrow? Let me tell you, don't talk nonsense in front of the kids and corrupt them."
Mo Xian glanced coldly at Wu Cuihua, put the meat on the dining table, opened the lunchbox he was carrying, and invited Mo Sanshan to eat.
Since Mo Xian filed for divorce, Wu Cuihua has refused to do any housework...
Mo Xian didn't care. If the house wasn't cleaned, he would clean it when he came back. If he wasn't cooking, he would buy food from the cafeteria. If he wasn't picking up or dropping off the children, he would pay his sister-in-law to do so.
Compared to before when he tightened his belt and gave all his money to the Wu family, now that he has improved his meals and even has new clothes, Mo Sanshan's attachment to Wu Cuihua has diminished considerably.
Seeing that neither the father nor the son invited her to eat, Wu Cuihua burst into tears.
Mo Xian pretended not to hear and went to the backyard to pick grapes after finishing his meal with Mo Sanshan.
When Wu Cuihua came over and saw this, she threw a tantrum and cried loudly.
"Those are my plants, what right do you have to pick them?"
Mo Xian took scissors, cut off the grapes, handed them to Mo Sanshan, and put them in the basket, ignoring Wu Cuihua's accusations.
Mo Sanshan realized that his family wouldn't go a month without meat, that his clothes could be replaced when they were too small, and that he could get new shoes if his toes were torn. He couldn't help but argue back after hearing Wu Cuihua's words.
“If you return the money, my dad and I will not pick the grapes you planted.”
One sentence left Wu Cuihua speechless.
After Mo Xian finished picking the grapes, he had Mo Sanshan carry them to Hua Li before he formally spoke to Wu Cuihua.
"Tell your family not to think about holding onto the eldest and second eldest sons for money anymore. Tomorrow is the last day. If they don't release them by then, don't blame me for turning against them."
Wu Cuihua joined the army after becoming pregnant with Mo Sanshan. When she joined the army, her family worried that she would leave and not be able to make money off her, so they detained Mo Yitian and Mo Shuanghua, who were already able to do some farm work.
Wu Cuihua would never tell Mo Xian about her family's dirty schemes; she would just say that the child was used to living there and refused to come.
It wasn't until Mo Xian brought up the divorce and wanted to bring the two children over that she discovered the children weren't actually not coming, but were being held captive by the Wu family.
Wu Cuihua still wanted to use the child to control Mo Xian, so of course she wouldn't let her family release him; she acted as if she hadn't heard anything.
Mo Sanshan knocked on Hua Li's door carrying a basket of grapes, only to find Hua Li hurriedly about to leave.
"Aunt Hua, are you going out?"
As Mo Sanshan spoke, he went inside and put the grapes into the kitchen.
Hua Li nodded, her tone gentle and amiable.
"I need to go see your Uncle Luo. Only Yan Yan and Xiao Xiu are at home. If you're home, please keep an eye on things for me."
He used to bully Luo Yan so much, yet Aunt Hua still believed him and even asked him to help take care of Luo Yan and Xiao Xiu. Mo Sanshan felt that the task was very important and patted his chest to guarantee it.
"Don't worry, Aunt Hua, I will never bully Yan Yan again. I will protect her."
Hearing this, Hua Li, who was preoccupied with her own thoughts, smiled.
"Okay, Aunt Hua believes you."
Hua Li and Mo Sanshan went out together, locked the door with a padlock, and hurriedly headed towards the army base, completely unaware that a small figure was quietly following them from the shadows.
Luo Yan noticed that Hua Li looked unwell after delivering the meat to Mo Xian. She sat on the sofa in a daze for a while before packing her things and telling Xiao Xiu that she was going out for a while.
Just then, Mo Sanshan came to deliver grapes, diverting their attention. Taking advantage of Hua Li and Xiao Xiu's inattention, Luo Yan sneaked out and hid in the shadows around the corner, waiting to follow Hua Li after he came out.
It was already dusk, and lights were on in every household's windows. Hua Li walked quickly, using the light to illuminate his way.
Stepping out of the compound, the streetlights were dim, and the road, almost deserted, was eerily quiet.
Hua Li felt like someone was following her, and she walked faster and faster out of fear.
Suddenly, a gust of wind swept past from behind, and a large hand landed on Hua Li's shoulder. Hua Li turned around in fright and met the man's sinister eyes.
Before Hua Li could cry for help, the man chopped Hua Li unconscious with a single chop and dragged him into the depths of a small grove of trees by the roadside.
These days, Hua Li eats well and sleeps soundly, and her body is gradually becoming plump. Her mature charm and beautiful face are making her the object of desire.
The man's breathing quickened as he reached out and gently stroked Hua Li's smooth face, slowly moving downwards...
A snapping sound came from not far away, as if a dry branch had been broken. The man stopped unbuttoning Hua Li's clothes.
"Who?" the man hissed.
The woods were quiet, and the moonlight filtering through the gaps in the branches and leaves was pale and hazy.
The man looked around, saw no one, curled his lips into a lewd smile, and leaned down to kiss Hua Li's lips.
Whoosh!
A pebble flew through the air, which the man nimbly dodged. He then viciously tried to pull down Hua Li's pants, spouting nonsense.
"Want a piece of the pie? Wait until I'm done playing..."
Bang!
A dark shadow fell from the tree and hit the man on the back. The man tried to shake it off, but was hit hard on the head and saw stars.
Before the man could react, Luo Yan grabbed his hair with one hand and swung her small fist at his eyes, punching him repeatedly.
The man's eyes were bleeding from the blows and he couldn't see anything. He waved his hands and screamed in pain.
Luo Yan straddled the man's shoulders, her legs gripping his neck tightly. The man thrashed about like an enraged bull, reaching up to grab his back...
Seeing that she was about to be grabbed by the man, Luo Yan exerted force with her legs again.
The lack of oxygen to the head caused the man to lose all strength instantly, his hand that was grabbing Luo Yan fell back, and his body went limp and he collapsed to the ground.
Luo Yan nimbly jumped away, her small body tumbling in the air before landing lightly on her feet.
When Luo Yan approached the man, she bent down and checked his breathing; he was still breathing.
"Hua Li! Hua Li!"
Someone called Hua Li. Luo Yan listened carefully and thought it sounded like Luo Shicheng's voice. She quickly climbed up a tree and hid.
As soon as Luo Yan hid, Luo Shicheng rushed over like a cheetah. Upon seeing Hua Li and the man, he immediately picked up Hua Li and ran away.
