Chapter 100 Printing (1/2)

Chapter 100 Printing

Today was a day off, and Su Tao planned to take He Chuan to the county to print college entrance exam materials. It was already April, and the weather was warm, so Su Tao changed into a light-colored ruffled shirt and black straight-leg trousers, looking both intellectual and elegant.

He Chuan also wore a solid blue men's shirt with black pants, and standing with Su Tao, they looked like a couple's outfit.

Seven subjects, covering grades one through three, plus some study materials—a thick stack of more than thirty books. He Chuan put the books into a bamboo basket, carried it on his back, and walked toward the village entrance, holding Su Tao's hand.

The two of them first took a tractor to the town and then took a car to the county seat. This was Su Tao's second time in the county seat and he was still unfamiliar with it. Although the county seat was not big, he still had no idea where to go.

"Where is the county printing factory?" Su Tao turned and said to He Chuan.

He Chuan had seen the attached map because he was driving. He remembered the route and brought Su Tao to the entrance of the printing factory.

"Excuse me, I want to find the director of your printing factory." Su Tao said to the guard at the printing factory with a smile.

"Excuse me, what do you want to do with the factory manager?" The security guard was a middle-aged man, who asked in a serious tone.

"I want to talk to him about some printing business." Su Tao didn't tell him directly that he was here to discuss business. Nowadays, people are always a little secretive when discussing business, so he just vaguely said that he wanted to discuss business.

"Hey, please wait a moment. I'll let them know." The man turned and walked into the building.

Su Tao didn't know that at this moment the director of the printing factory was as anxious as an ant on hot pan.

Inside the printing factory director's office

"What's the matter? I asked you to find books and materials for the college entrance examination, how come you can't find them? What's the point of finding just one or two books for me?" A man in a blue-black uniform slammed the book in his hand on the table and roared at his subordinates next to him.

"As soon as I received the news from the higher-ups that a batch of college entrance examination books and review materials would be printed in advance, I issued them to you. Now it's been so long, and you still can't find all the books and materials?" Factory Director Li Xiuming was very angry. He had paid a lot of money to find out the news. He wanted to prepare in advance and get the upper hand. He didn't expect that this group of useless people below couldn't even find all the information after such a long time, let alone print it.

"It's not our fault. The G exam was cancelled more than ten months ago. Who still has the things from ten months ago? Even if they did, they would not be complete and some would be damaged. We really can't collect them all at once." The subordinates cried in distress. It was not their fault. They had searched all over the countryside, town, and nearby urban areas, but they didn't receive many books.

"Why don't you give us a little more time so I can look somewhere else?" another subordinate said.

"Time, time! What we lack most right now is time." Factory Director Li Xiuming was furious at the mention of time. He had received first-hand information and wanted to be the first to take the lead. If this matter was handled, he would be promoted and possibly transferred to the city. If he delayed any longer, others would gradually get the news, and by then the whole country would know. What good would it do to print money?

"Get lost! Go and keep looking. If you can't find her, don't come back." Li Xiuming shouted angrily.

As the two men left, the security guard came in and reported, "Director, two people came downstairs and said they want to discuss business with you."

Li Xiuming was extremely annoyed and had no mood to discuss business. He waved his hand and said, "Just tell them I'm not here and ask them to come back another day."

Just as the guard was about to leave Su Tao and the others, he was called back.

"Oh, wait a minute, forget it, let them come up." Li Xiuming thought about it. Since the college entrance examination books are so difficult to get, it is still uncertain whether he can find them. He might as well see if there is any other business he can do first.

Su Tao and He Chuan waited at the door for a while before they saw the security guard coming over and saying, "Go straight up. It's the third office on the left on the second floor."
