Chapter 120 Return to City 2 (1/2)

Chapter 120 Return to City 2

After making sure everything was arranged, He Chuan took the small package he was keeping close to him and walked towards the bus station with Su Tao and He Yanzhi.

They also have to take a bus to the county train station and then take a train back to Dong.

Su Tao sat in the car seat, holding He Yanzhi in his arms. He looked at He Chuan, who was standing beside him, using his tall body to isolate the other passengers. He asked curiously, "What were you talking about when you pulled Jiang Dashi aside?"

He Chuan looked at Su Tao with a satisfied expression, "Do you want to know?"

"Yeah, yeah." Su Tao nodded quickly in response.

"I just brought some gifts for our parents and asked him to help send them." He Chuan said mysteriously.

"Gift? Didn't you buy it that day?" Didn't He Chuan show her the cigarettes, alcohol and jewelry he bought that day? What other gifts could there be?

"How are they the same? The gift we sent that day was a home visit gift. What I asked him to send was the betrothal gift for proposing marriage. It includes all the necessary items, including the three turns and one ring, plus an electric iron and a camera. How about that, is it complete?" He Chuan said with a smile.

Su Tao blushed instantly and said coquettishly, "My parents may not agree yet."

He Chuan teased, "Haven't you already figured out a plan for me? Just deal with my mother-in-law."

.......

They soon arrived at the county town while chatting. He Chuan took Su Tao and He Yanzhi to the train station. The platform was packed with people, all carrying large and small bags. He Chuan held the packages in one hand and helped Su Tao and the others get on the train with the other.

"Taotao, Yanzhi, come this way, be careful."

Su Tao looked at the retro green train with curiosity while he led He Yanzhi and He Chuan inside the train. They found their seats by comparing the seat numbers. The seats were still the old wooden ones.

It was also He Yanzhi's first time to take a train. She was so curious that she looked around while sitting on the seat. Sometimes she stood up to look at the seats in front and behind the train, and sometimes she leaned over the window and stuck her head out to look out.

"Yanzhi, we're about to start driving. Don't stick your head out. It's dangerous." Su Tao stopped the little girl in time when he saw her dangerous action.

"Oh, okay, Sister Taotao." The little girl stuck out her tongue, retracted her head and sat down obediently.

The seats on the train were: He Yanzhi sat by the window, Su Tao sat in the middle, and He Chuan sat in the outermost aisle seat.

"Sister Taotao, have you ever taken a train before?" the little girl asked curiously.

Su Tao had never ridden in such an antique train before. Back in her time, she rode high-speed trains, which traveled at 300 km/h, several times faster than this old train. Furthermore, riding in a train was much more comfortable and stable, unlike this train, which was old and crowded. The odor of sweat and various objects mixed together, filling the entire train with an indescribable odor.

Su Tao felt a little nauseous and uncomfortable when he smelled these smells, and He Chuan felt a little distressed when he saw this.

It takes three days to get to Beijing by bus. Except for eating and going to the toilet, Su Tao spent most of his time in a drowsy sleep relying on He Chuan.

On the other hand, the little girl He Yanzhi was in good spirits all the time. She would take a nap from time to time, and spend most of her time lying by the window looking at the fields, mountains, rivers, lakes, and the villages, towns and cities she passed by. Everything was so new to the little girl, and she never got tired of it.

After the initial novelty of the train ride wore off, aches and pains followed. He'd sat on the train for two solid days, unable to stretch his arms and legs. Sometimes, so exhausted, Su Tao would rather stand than sit with his legs bent. He yearned deeply for the high-speed trains and airplanes of later times.

Airplanes do exist these days, but airports are common, not in Yun County. Instead of going to an airport, you can get there by train.

Fortunately, I finally made it to Beijing Station.

He Chuan took the luggage and helped Su Tao and Yan Zhi get off the car.
