Chapter 48 Carpentry
Su Tao and He Chuan were walking back when Su Tao suddenly stopped, pulled He Chuan and said, "Wait a minute, I want to go to the supply and marketing department to buy some things."
He Chuan then accompanied Su Tao to the grocery store and bought 20 jin of glutinous rice flour, 10 jin of corn flour, some starch, brown sugar, etc., spending 500 yuan. Su Tao then rushed to the counter selling tableware and bought a batch of pots and pans of various sizes before returning home with He Chuan.
It was already noon when he got home. Su Tao was too tired to move and just wanted to lie down on the bed. There were some leftover soup dumplings from yesterday, so Su Tao steamed them and served them to the table.
"You're back a little late, so just have some buns for lunch. I'll cook in the evening." Su Tao said softly.
He Chuan didn't care what he ate, as long as he was full. As for He Yanzhi, she would be happy to eat steamed buns every day.
After eating the buns, Su Tao went back to his room to take a nap.
After waking up, he felt refreshed and finally regained his spirits. Su Tao walked out of the house and found that no one was there. He Yanzhi had gone off to play somewhere, and He Chuan was nowhere to be seen either.
"Clang, clang!" A knocking sound came from the nearby utility room. Su Tao approached and opened the door. He Chuan was sitting on a bench, his arms folded, stapling a few boards. There were some planed boards and sawdust scattered on the floor.
"What are you doing?" Su Tao walked up to the man and asked curiously.
"I went to cut some wood and plan to make you a box first. I see you have a lot of things and there isn't enough furniture in the house to put them in." The man said while not stopping the work in his hands.
"Give it to me? It turns out you can do carpentry work too." Su Tao was pleasantly surprised. It turned out that it was a gift for her. The man could not only repair things, but also do carpentry work. What else could he not do? The boss really deserves to be the boss. Everyone's skills are not accidental. It turns out that the boss knows so many things.
Su Tao looked around the house and noticed a large desk with an old radio and a bunch of miscellaneous parts on it. He probably used to repair and assemble radios here. He glanced to the side and saw a bookcase filled with books. Su Tao looked around and saw all sorts of books. There were quotations from Mao Zedong, as well as books on circuits and repair.
"Are these books all yours?" Su Tao turned around and asked He Chuan.
The man looked up at Su Tao pointing at the bookcase and said, "Well, most of them were brought down by my parents, and some I bought myself in town or found at junkyards and other places."
He Chuan finished elementary school, but his parents' health declined, so he stopped studying and began helping them with household chores. Shortly after his younger sister was born, his parents passed away, and he took on the responsibility of caring for her. However, he never gave up learning, spending his free time reading and studying. He even learned some of his knowledge of circuits and assembly from books.
Su Tao looked at He Chuan and felt distressed. He didn't have a happy childhood, had to shoulder the heavy responsibilities of life too early, and was also under pressure from public opinion. Su Tao couldn't imagine how that young body could have endured and grown into such an outstanding man. But it would be better in the future. She would be with him in the future, and she would treat him well.
Su Tao took the wooden board from the man's hand, sat astride his legs, and placed his red lips against his thin lips in a light kiss. Ever since he had kissed her before, the man had been craving it and wanted to taste it again. This time, since the woman took the initiative, how could he let her go so easily?
