Chapter 52: Purchasing Winter Supplies (1/2)

Chapter 52 Purchasing Winter Supplies

Coming to the supply and marketing cooperative at this time, some of the popular pork would definitely be sold out. Su Tao had some at home, so she didn't plan to buy any. She just wanted to buy some daily necessities for the winter, such as clothes and bedding.

Su Tao first took He Chuan to a grocery store and bought some flour, glutinous rice flour, corn flour, and some spices and seasonings. He Chuan easily lifted things that Su Tao couldn't lift normally and placed them in a bamboo box behind him, making it easy to carry them.

Then he went to the grocery counter and bought a few oil lamps and some kerosene. With winter now approaching, it gets dark early, and it's too much trouble to have only one oil lamp in the house. He also bought a batch of thick cotton quilts, which Su Tao found particularly satisfying.

"We already have some at home, why buy more?" the man said with a frown.

"The quilts at home are all old, the cotton filling is thin, and many places are hollow. Even if you are not afraid of the cold, Yanzhi will need it. Her body is not as good as yours." Su Tao retorted bluntly.

The man was speechless. This was how they'd always coped: if the blanket was thin, they'd just wear extra clothes and sleep wrapped in it. No one cared about whether they were hot or cold, or if they'd get sick. Now, suddenly, someone cared about them, blaming him for not paying attention to his own well-being. A surge of warmth flowed through He Chuan's heart, warming his entire body and his heart.

He Chuan no longer argued, but gave the best answer with action. He paid the bill directly, picked up the bedding with both hands and continued to follow Su Tao.

Su Tao then went to the cloth counter and selected some cloth and cotton, intending to take them to Aunt Liang's tailor shop to have her make a few cotton-padded clothes. Besides, it was the end of the month, so she should check on her harvest.

I had bought the materials for making a cotton-padded jacket and was about to leave when I suddenly caught sight of a gray-black men's coat hanging in the clothing store next to me.

Su Tao stopped, turned around and walked to the coat first. This coat was of good quality. It had a simple style and was made of solid material. It was a classic style.

"Can I try this dress on?" Su Tao asked the salesperson politely.

The salesperson saw that Su Tao was tall and beautiful, and her clothes were also exquisite and generous. It was obvious that she was not short of money. She nodded and said, "You can try it."

Su Tao happily turned to He Chuan who had just walked in and said, "He Chuan, try this dress on. I think it suits you very well."

The salesperson followed Su Tao's gaze toward the door and saw a tall man, his arms full of goods. He was handsome, but dressed very poorly. Standing next to Su Tao, he looked like a servant accompanying a lady in ancient times.

It turned out that it was not the girl who wanted to buy it, but the man behind her. The salesperson frowned. If she had known that it was this man who was going to wear it, she would never have agreed to try it on.

Su Tao took the clothes and was about to let He Chuan try them on when a voice interrupted him, "Our clothes are fresh goods, high-quality Nizi coats, they are not cheap. You must not tear them when you try them on."

He Chuan's face darkened. In fact, he had no intention of trying it on. The clothes looked expensive and he didn't need them. However, when he came in, he saw a beautiful red dress for women next to him. It would suit Su Tao very well.

Su Tao's expression darkened upon hearing this. Su Tao's expression, without a smile, was particularly cool and impressive, his aura full of power. He said in a cold voice, "You just said you could try them on. If they get torn just by trying them on, then that only proves that your clothes are of poor quality and are counterfeit products."
