Chapter 17 Lunch

When the porridge is almost done, pour in the mustard greens and season with some salt. Jiang Yanqing tasted it and thought it was just average given the limited ingredients.

I am used to eating Wuchang rice, pearl rice, and fragrant rice. This kind of brown rice always smells a little off.

But nowadays, for most families, being able to eat their fill is already good enough. Jiang Yanqing poured all the porridge into a large bowl.

Then I searched through all the drawers and cupboards, but couldn't find any oil, so I gave up the idea of frying the eggs.

Beat the eggs in a bowl, steam some egg custard, put the vegetable porridge and egg custard on the chopping board, and bring it into the room.

Fang Mingxiao was still sitting, looking out the window. When he heard footsteps, he turned around, looked at what Jiang Yanqing was holding, moved his legs, and prepared to get out of bed.

"Eat something, then get some sleep. You should be almost fully recovered by tomorrow."

Fang Mingxiao glanced at the egg custard, pursed his lips, and asked, "Did you bring the eggs from the Jiang family?"

Fang Mingxiao thought, when did this girl become so bold that she dared to steal things from the Jiang family and was not afraid of being beaten?

Jiang Yanqing sighed helplessly, took a small bowl, and used a spoon to put the vegetable porridge into the bowl, while answering, "Do you think it's possible?"

"The Jiang family's things are all in good condition. These are the pheasant eggs I picked up in the back mountain. You can eat them with peace of mind."

Jiang Yanqing thought, maybe he was afraid of getting into trouble after eating something from the Jiang family!

After all, the two shrews in the Jiang family are not easy to mess with. Anyone who dares to take advantage of the Jiang family will definitely be scolded.

Fang Mingxiao was even more puzzled. He had no idea how many times he had been to this mountain. Apart from the deep mountains, where else could he find pheasant eggs?

But talking too much was annoying, so Fang Mingxiao silently suppressed the doubts in his heart, sat down at the table, looked at the only bowl of porridge, and asked curiously, "Aren't you going to eat?"

Jiang Yanqing thought, could it be that this child is lonely and wants someone to have dinner with him?

Although I don’t really want to eat brown rice porridge, I still have to eat some with him because he is a patient!

Then he sat aside, took the small bowl in front of Fang Minghao, brought it to himself, and pushed the big bowl, "You eat this, I have a small appetite, so I'll eat this."

Fang Minghao pursed his lips, but before answering, he watched Jiang Yanqing scoop a spoonful of egg custard into his bowl and then pushed the rest of the custard over to him. "Okay, the rest is all yours."

Fang Minghao felt a little embarrassed. Food was precious now, and he only ate half full at every meal. It wasn't that Jiang Yanqing cooked too much, but she also had a hard life in the Jiang family, and she left all the good food for him to eat. He felt a little uncomfortable about it.

He cleared his throat and said, "Eat more. I can't eat so much." Then he pushed the bowl of egg custard towards Jiang Yanqing.

Jiang Yanqing took a mouthful of vegetable porridge and shook her head. "I don't want to eat it. I don't like eggs. You can eat it all."

This is true. When we were in the countryside, there was little to eat. In order to supplement nutrition, my grandfather forced himself to eat a free-range egg every day. After eating it for a while, he got full.

Although I won’t eat eggs at all, I won’t take the initiative to eat them either.

The bite I just took was because I was worried that Fang Mingxiao would feel embarrassed to eat it alone, so I took a bite as a token of my appreciation.

But Fang Mingxiao thought Jiang Yanqing was kind enough to save the good stuff for him because she saw he was sick. Is there anyone who doesn't like eggs these days?

What a beautiful misunderstanding. Anyway, in their first close contact, Jiang Yanqing left Fang Mingxiao with a good impression of being kind and simple, and having excellent cooking skills.

At this time, Jiang Yanqing didn't know that Fang Mingxiao had a good impression of her. She finished her bowl of vegetable porridge quickly but elegantly.

Fang Mingxiao had almost finished his meal, with half of the vegetable porridge and egg custard still left. It seemed that he had no appetite because he was sick.

Jiang Yanqing put all the things in the kitchen, then returned to the room and said, "Sleep a little longer. I'll come back in the evening and bring you medicine."

"I've left the dishes in the kitchen. Wash them yourself when you get better."

Jiang Yanqing likes cooking, but she really doesn’t like washing dishes. Her hands get greasy after washing, which is so uncomfortable.

When I was young, I had my grandfather taking care of me, I had a nanny when I moved to the city, and I had enough money when I went abroad to study, so I bought a dishwasher so I didn’t have to wash the dishes myself.

Jiang Yanqing didn't want to put herself in a difficult position here. She wanted to go back and try to see if the dishwasher in the space villa could be used. If it could, she would feel much more relaxed.

Fang Mingxiao agreed without showing any expression, but he felt a little puzzled in his heart. Is washing dishes such a difficult thing?

However, Jiang Yanqing saved him and cooked for him, so Fang Mingxiao was grateful.

Since my mother died, no one has ever given me any warmth.

Although when the mother was alive, most of her thoughts were on that man, and she would cry all day long or yell when she was let down, but when she remembered her son, she would stroke his head and say a few words of concern.

The boy sitting on the bed lowered his eyes. The midday sun shone on his cheeks. His fair skin was so fair that even his sweat hairs were visible. Wow, Jiang Yanqing sighed in her heart, what a nice skin.

My skin was pretty good in my previous life, but I spent some time maintaining it. I’m still young in this life, so if I take good care of it, it shouldn’t be too bad.
