The noise of Sheng Qian parking her bicycle startled the people inside. The talking stopped, and a middle-aged woman came out with a smile. When she saw Sheng Qian, her eyes kept glancing at her.
Sheng Qian looked at her with the same disdainful gaze one would give a fortune teller, and couldn't help but raise an eyebrow.
"Is this your daughter-in-law?" the middle-aged woman asked Hou Guifang, who had come out with her.
Hou Guifang was surprised that Sheng Qian would return so quickly, and a hint of embarrassment flashed across her face.
Seeing this, Sheng Qian felt that something was wrong.
The woman circled around her twice more, her gaze becoming even stranger.
"Sister-in-law Chen, let me see you out," Hou Guifang said hurriedly.
The woman called Sister Chen didn't think much of it and said to Sheng Qian, "I've looked at your birth chart and you've seen your character. You're blessed and will bring good fortune to your son!"
As soon as Aunt Chen said that, Sheng Qian understood immediately.
This is a fortune teller!
Sheng Qian wasn't angry; she looked at Sister Chen with a calm and composed expression.
"So, are you satisfied?" Sheng Qian asked Hou Guifang with a smile.
Hou Guifang felt embarrassed.
After saying a few more kind words, Aunt Chen accepted two yuan from Hou Guifang and left with a big smile on her face.
"Xiaoqian, that's not what Auntie meant..." Hou Guifang wanted to explain her behavior today to Sheng Qian.
Sheng Qian said generously, "Aunt Fang, you don't need to apologize. I came to your house to bring good luck to your son and help him wake up smoothly. Our family received benefits from your family, so I have to be of some use. Aunt Fang, you did the right thing. We should find someone to take another look. What if my good fortune is gone again? Wouldn't you have worked for nothing?"
These words made Hou Guifang even more embarrassed, and she didn't know how to explain it to Sheng Qian.
Although Sheng Qian spoke these words in a very open and honest manner, not at all like she was angry, Hou Guifang felt that she had made a mistake.
But as long as her son didn't wake up, she, as a mother, was also suffering.
While Sheng Qian was away, Hou Guifang inquired among the neighbors and found Sister Chen, asking her to come and take another look at Long Yunting.
Hou Guifang would never have done such a thing before. When it comes to her son, how could she, as a mother, possibly care so much?
They've done all sorts of absurd things at home, so they don't care about this little bit.
Sheng Qian understood Hou Guifang's feelings, but she still felt uncomfortable.
This made her feel like a sacrificial offering.
Sheng Qian took the medicinal herbs back to her room and continued working on her clothes.
Hou Guifang hesitated outside, wondering whether she should explain a few more words, but not wanting to upset Sheng Qian, she turned around and went to Long Yunting's room. "Yunting, you've been sleeping for so long, it's time to wake up. If you don't wake up soon, Mom won't be able to hold on much longer."
As she spoke, Hou Guifang's eyes reddened again. Ever since Long Yunting fell into a coma, she had often secretly wiped away her tears.
Hou Guifang looked even more haggard than before.
After finishing dinner, Hou Guifang heard the sewing machine still whirring and called out, "Xiaoqian, dinner's ready! Eat first, then you can get back to work!"
Sheng Qian stopped what she was doing. "It's so late, I didn't even notice. I'll cook tomorrow's meals."
Sheng Qian wasn't the type to sit around waiting to be served. She shared the cooking duties with Hou Guifang, and even helped with wiping Long Yunting's body.
"Let's eat first."
Hou Guifang had already prepared the food and was sitting at the small square table.
"Xiaoqian, what Auntie did during the day, I really didn't think about it that way. I just asked Sister Chen to take another look at Yunting," Hou Guifang explained to Shengqian during the meal.
Sheng Qian replied in a nonchalant tone, "Aunt Fang, it's alright, I understand. Let's not talk about this anymore; you're just worried about your son."
Seeing Sheng Qian's attitude, Hou Guifang suddenly remembered Sheng Qian's words about divorce that day.
Although the marriage cannot be dissolved unless the Long family agrees, Sheng Qian's heart is not with the Long family, so it is not impossible for her to leave.
Even if she didn't want the divorce certificate, Sheng Qian could turn around and leave.
It was just a bit of a commotion.
"Xiaoqian, I see you've finished two or three sets. How do you plan to sell them?" Hou Guifang steered the conversation toward clothing.
Sheng Qian said, "I still don't have enough clothes. I need to make a few more sets."
She's on her own right now; she'll hire someone else once things are up and running.
Sheng Qian never intended to build the clothing industry on her own; she planned to find partners once it grew bigger.
and.
Clothing is just her current idea; who knows if there will be other opportunities next time.
“I’ve seen the clothes you make; they’re novel and beautiful! People in the city will definitely love them! I’m too busy here, but when your aunt comes, I’ll have her help you sell some goods!” Hou Guifang decided to help Sheng Qian.
Sheng Qianben also had that idea, wanting Hou Guifang to help him make a start, and then start from another place after the New Year.
"Are all the Long family members coming for Chinese New Year this year?" Sheng Qian asked, remembering the New Year celebrations.
“The child’s father is coming, and others should be coming too,” Hou Guifang said, looking at Sheng Qian. “It’ll be more lively when the family comes.”
“Hmm,” Sheng Qian had no right to stop the Long family from coming.
After washing the dishes, Sheng Qian took the initiative to boil water. Fortunately, she had strong survival skills in the wild before coming here; otherwise, she definitely wouldn't have been able to cope with everything being done with firewood.
Thinking of the medicinal herbs she had brought back, Sheng Qian spent the night tinkering with them in her room.
She herself is often injured, and she is very skilled at making Chinese medicine pills.
She now has to get up every morning to exercise, afraid that she won't have the ability to protect herself if something happens. If she dies again, she won't have the space or power to be thrown back to another world.
