Along the way, Arthur felt as if something had been overlooked. They should have headed south, since their main destination was the center of the Forgotten Continent, so why were they heading north instead?
"Why do I feel like we're drifting further and further apart?"
Arthur complained and asked Carlos a few questions, but Carlos still stuck to his own opinion.
"It's this direction. The landscape has changed. You haven't lived on the Forgotten Continent for long enough to experience all four seasons. The plants on the continent grow at different rates. You'll get used to it by summer."
Arthur didn't actually live on the Forgotten Continent for more than two or three months. He was transported there by an earthquake, and that's when he established his own power.
They earned their positions through sheer force of fists, and their leadership skills garnered them a large following of orcs, including a group of assassins.
He thought he'd never come back, and now he's back again just to escape disaster. How shameful! Why does he always have to come to the Forgotten Continent when there's trouble? Did he run into the Forgotten Continent by accident?
"What are you going to do about the cave? Exposing everyone is probably not a good idea. We need to consider the safety of the females. Once we've gone some distance, I'll go with you to scout ahead and see who their leader is."
"Alright, we'll see about that later. Let's hurry on our way, don't delay. The borders of the mainland are even more dangerous at night; the wild animals here work in packs. Let's go!"
Guo Xiaoxiao: "We're already moving slowly, and it's already noon, not long before nightfall."
Arthur stopped discussing the matter and urged everyone to hurry up.
Unbeknownst to them, the group had been under surveillance for some time, and any slight abnormality would be detected by those in the shadows.
It wasn't that their senses weren't sharp, but rather that there were too many footsteps. Every time they moved, there were sounds of talking and footsteps everywhere, creating a chaotic and disorganized scene.
Even Arthur couldn't tell who was in the shadows and who was in the light, or whether anyone was following him; it was truly impossible to discern.
Plus, if the orc is a weasel-like creature, and intentionally hides underground, you wouldn't be able to see it.
Their whereabouts were also reported.
The group of orcs they led was the largest gathering of orcs on the entire Forgotten Continent; they were too conspicuous to hide.
Its stolen perception is extraordinary; even the least perceptive male can sense something approaching when numerous dangers are drawing near.
As the ascent continued, Arthur sensed something increasingly strange.
The atmosphere was tense, as if countless eyes were watching them.
Carlos suddenly stopped in his tracks.
"Don't move, don't make a sound, there's an ambush, prepare for battle!"
The orcs behind them all fell silent, especially the females, who were forced to lie down by the males to avoid being snatched away by the eagle beasts.
The beastmen from the Forgotten Continent were particularly vigilant.
Once a wandering orc goes berserk, they'll fight you to the death, even if they can't kill you. Unless their frenzied blood calms down, you'll have no choice but to tough it out.
Be careful, there might be an ambush.
A faint rustling sound came from all around them. They remained hidden in the shadows, careful not to reveal themselves, as the woods here were too dense.
Guo Xiaoxiao was immediately embraced by Carlos, and every orc was on high alert, fearing a sneak attack or a blow.
Arthur tensed up too; he could feel it too. But there was nothing to worry about. He was confident he could keep the female safe, and he himself was perfectly fine.
He kept scanning his surroundings, hoping to find any hiding orcs, but unfortunately he found no trace of them.
"Carlos, keep a close eye on Xiaoxiao. You guys come with me to the woods and find them all. Since they refuse to show themselves, just kill them."
Once the enemy is eliminated, the rest can be left to the other members of the tribe. Even Arthur wouldn't dare to underestimate the wandering orcs; they are not a rabble, and those with nothing to lose are fearless.
Stray beasts ultimately have nothing; they have nothing to lose and don't feel they belong anywhere. Anyone who intrudes on their territory and tears them apart...
They are organized yet unorganized; all their actions and policies are based on the leadership of their people.
Carlos also wanted to know who dared to intercept them and stop them.
Carlos nodded, indicating that Arthur could rest assured, and Guo Xiaoxiao reminded him...
"Take a few more people. You take five. If the other side has a lot of people, you can't fight them all. Let Mickson, Cang Jue, and Randy go with you. Take them all with you too."
Arthur: "No need, there aren't many people. You underestimate me. Let them guard you."
Guo Xiaoxiao looked up and glanced around; it was easy to lose one's way in those towering ancient trees.
Arthur waved his hand and led several males into the woods.
They were moving very fast; as if they had noticed something, they ran in the opposite direction, giving Arthur no chance to pursue.
"Arthur, have you noticed that they seem to be deliberately luring us into the woods?"
An orc raised a question
Arthur nodded, calm and collected. "Hmm, they don't want to confront us head-on. Let's grab an orc and ask them where they came from."
Another orc said, "No need, let's just charge."
They weren't afraid of traps or anything, they just found it a bit troublesome—a typical case of someone who'd never been to the Forgotten Continent before treating it like an ancient continent.
Stray beasts have no sense of martial ethics
Arthur agreed to this approach; a straightforward and forceful method was better than being timid and hesitant.
Guo Xiaoxiao and the beastmen remained where they were, not daring to act rashly until Arthur returned, for fear of harming the Golden Snake.
Arthur traversed the woods for a long time before finally finding a man who had fallen to the ground. He appeared to have slipped and fallen, but was not unconscious; he was a strong, healthy man.
