Chapter 8 Being Bullied
Chen Yongliang honestly shook his head, "Of course, the more the better, so that we can eat our fill, live in spacious accommodations, and dress comfortably."
Wan Qiqi nodded in satisfaction and patted the other person on the shoulder, "That's right! I didn't steal or rob, I earned it myself, what's wrong with that?"
Chen Yongliang thought it made sense, but something still felt off.
Isn't what my sister-in-law did considered robbery?
Wan Qiqi ignored his gaze, her mind preoccupied with how to manage the household.
Now that she has taken the place of the original owner, she has the obligation to take care of the two children and support her mother-in-law, so that the family's life will get better and better.
Chen Yongnian squatted in the yard chopping firewood, glancing into the main room every now and then. He felt that his wife seemed to have changed, and had become better!
Before long, Wan Qiqi came out of the main room, drawn by the aroma of rice.
Under the thatched shed, a broken pot was steaming under the firewood, and rice water was seeping out from the crack.
Pingping squatted down next to him, holding a bowl, to collect the rice water.
Wan Qiqi's expression immediately changed, and she walked over.
She really wanted to complain about how they were watching the child. There was a fire right in front of them; what if the child accidentally fell into the fire?
Then she realized, she was his biological mother...
She pulled Pingping away from the fire.
The rice soup in Pingping's hand suddenly overflowed and poured onto the back of his hand, but he didn't let go.
Seeing his little hands were all red, Wan Qiqi immediately snatched the bowl away and threw it aside. She grabbed his hands and soaked them in the water in the wooden tub, scolding, "Is the rice water more important or your hands?"
Pingping pouted and said pitifully, "Rice porridge, I'm hungry... Waaah..." As she spoke, tears streamed down her face.
Wan Qiqi's heart trembled. Perhaps it was the original owner's pity for the child that softened her gaze towards Pingping.
She couldn't resist the child's teary eyes, especially considering that the child was born from her body, connected by blood, she couldn't bear to scold him.
For a moment, her movements became much gentler.
Pingping stared at her longingly, pursing her lips without saying a word.
Wan Qiqi sighed. The two children were skinny and dressed in tattered clothes, looking like little beggars. They were not cute at all, but rather pitiful.
She thought that since she had taken their place as their biological mother, she should raise the two babies to be healthy, chubby, lively and adorable.
Not only that, she also wants to create a good educational environment for her two children so that they can read and write.
Looking back, Wan Qiqi saw that the house was bare, and even the rice cooker was broken. She felt that she had a long way to go!
Let's start with small goals, like... getting a new pot!
"Mommy won't let you and An'an go hungry from now on. Don't cry, okay? You're a little man!" She wiped away Pingping's tears and took his little hands out of the water; they were still red.
Looking at the few copper coins she had left, she still bought a bottle of burn ointment at the mall and gently applied it to the back of her flat hand.
Pingping hiccuped as she cried, while keeping a close eye on Wan Qiqi's movements.
He always envied his cousin Chen Zhu. His mother, Yunniang, was kind and gentle, and she would save all the good food for him. Whenever he bumped or bruised himself, his mother would feel very sorry for him.
Today, Pingping finally experienced what it feels like to have a mother's love, and her heart is filled with warmth.
After Wan Qiqi finished applying the medicine, her face darkened as she looked at the black water in the wooden tub.
Sigh, I need to give the child a bath and get him some new clothes.
She looked at her flat, bare feet again and decided that she should get a pair of shoes first!
Before she could recover, another cry came from her neighbor's house, which was just a wall away, and it sounded familiar.
"Damn it, Zhao Dahu must have bullied An'an again!" Pingping moved as nimbly as a rabbit, and in the blink of an eye, she was already next door.
He looked up and saw An'an sitting on the ground, wiping away her tears. Next to her stood a rather burly boy, staring at An'an.
Pingping rushed over and shoved Zhao Dahu, standing in front of An'an and angrily said, "You're not allowed to bully An'an!"
Zhao Dahu was two years older than Pingping and was also more robust. The two were like a cat and a mouse.
Zhao Dahu didn't expect Pingping to suddenly rush out and push him. He lost his balance and took a few steps back.
He looked at Pingping with a hint of disbelief in his eyes.
What's wrong? Has Chen Pingping gotten bolder today? She even dared to fight back?!
