After walking along the winding, secluded path for a while, Lin Momo finally understood why no one ever walked this way anymore.
Firstly, this area is far from the village.
As for the second one, damn it, this road is too steep!
She was walking empty-handed and almost tumbled down the slope.
Such a steep mountain path naturally deterred many people, and even Lin Momo wanted to take another route into the mountains.
Fortunately, after walking for about fifteen minutes, the steep path gradually became gentler. Lin wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and breathed a sigh of relief.
If the slope continues to be this steep, she'll definitely have to change course.
After catching her breath, Lin Momo continued on her way with anticipation.
After entering the mountains, I could clearly feel the chill in the air. The layer of white frost on the ground added to the coldness. It was indeed colder in the mountains, and it already felt like winter.
The view was one of decay; most of the plants along the way had withered, and fallen leaves covered the ground. A few green leaves still remained on the tree canopies, and the frost-covered leaves seemed to flutter and fall in the air like butterflies.
Under the influence of frost, the forests in the mountains present a different kind of beauty, with the mountains turning red and the forests dyed in layers of color, which is intoxicating.
Lin Momo came with a mission, so she didn't linger too much in the beautiful scenery before her and quickly brought her mind back to her business.
When they get tired, they stop, rest for a while, and then continue climbing; when they get hungry, they hide in their own space, fill their stomachs, and then come out to continue their journey.
After walking for more than an hour, we could no longer discern the path under our feet, when a small bamboo grove appeared ahead.
This area is relatively flat, and if there is a water source nearby, it would be suitable for building houses and living.
Lin wandered around the bamboo forest for a while but did not see any houses or people, indicating that no one lived there and few people even set foot there.
This is not surprising. Nobody wants to live in the mountains unless they are forced into it. Not only is it inconvenient to get in and out, but there aren't even any neighbors to visit or chat with.
This wasn't Lin Momo's ideal place to live either, so she decided to walk further in.
She then walked into the bamboo forest, picked and chose, and finally selected a thin bamboo that could be used as a walking stick. She took out a sharp steel saw from her spatial storage and sawed the bamboo in a few strokes.
"Not bad, it's really sharp!" Lin Momo praised with satisfaction as she looked at the small saw in her hand.
Next, she cleaned up the branches on the thin bamboo, measured it according to her own height, and finally sawed it into a bamboo cane that was a head shorter than her.
I walked a few steps with the cane and felt quite good. I couldn't help but think of the line of poetry, "A bamboo cane and straw sandals are lighter than a horse."
Lin Momo didn't rush on her way. Instead, she turned around, picked up the saw, and made another one. This thing was quite useful, so she naturally wanted to have an extra one while it was in handy.
Just in case.
Since there was no path left, Lin Momo simply gave up on climbing the mountain. Instead, she took out a compass to determine her location and then circled around one side of the mountainside, heading deeper into the mountain.
She didn't want to live too high up, firstly because water was hard to find, and secondly because climbing up was too tiring.
For Lin Momo, the ideal place to live is a secluded valley or cave with lush vegetation.
It would be even better if we could find a hot spring.
There will definitely be hot springs, but whether she encounters one depends entirely on her luck.
At this moment, the warm morning sun has risen to the treetops, and the white frost that has condensed on the ground, trees, and grass has gradually melted into dew, which is then evaporated into water vapor by the sunlight, lingering in the mountains.
Along the way, apart from a few panicked wild rabbits, Lin Momo didn't encounter any wild animals.
I didn't encounter any annoying mosquitoes or snakes; they've probably all started hibernating.
It must be said that choosing this season to go into the mountains has many advantages.

As Lin Momo ventured deeper into the area, she encountered more and more small animals, such as pheasants, rabbits, squirrels, and hedgehogs. Fortunately, no large animals came near her to make their presence known.
Her goal on this trip was to find a suitable place to live. She had no intention of hunting. After a pheasant was startled and flew away, she picked up seven or eight wild eggs from the grass.
The eggs were practically handed to her; why not take them?
The little pheasants in her space had just hatched, so she'd have to wait a while to eat their eggs.
Along the way, we also encountered some wild fruits and nuts such as chestnuts, walnuts, and hazelnuts. Most of the fruits on the trees had fallen off, and the ground was covered with a layer of fallen leaves and rotten fruit.
Only the branches of the persimmon tree were covered with small red lantern-like fruits. Upon closer inspection, most of them had been pecked by birds and were damaged to varying degrees.
It became food for the birds in the neighborhood to survive the winter.
Lin Momo had plenty of walnuts and chestnuts in her space, and she didn't have the obsession to pick them up every time she saw them.
So she continued walking forward, leaning on her bamboo cane and sticking out her bottom.
That day, the expedition got off to a bad start.
They couldn't find a place that Lin Momo liked until it got dark.
Good places are not easy to find; and those that are easy to find have long been claimed by others.
This is something that will inevitably take time to develop; it can't be rushed.
Therefore, she didn't feel particularly disappointed.
The next day, Lin Momo left the space early in the morning and continued her search relentlessly.
As she walked, the mountain path turned, and suddenly a stray dog came into her view unintentionally.
"What's going on? Does anyone live nearby?" Lin Momo felt a pang of panic and muttered to herself.
She immediately stopped in her tracks, and in a flash, she hid behind a large tree, completely concealed by her small stature.
Then I pricked up my ears and listened carefully to the sounds. After waiting for a while, I didn't hear anyone calling the dog.
Could this stray dog have run away from home, and its owner not be nearby?
Lin Momo, who was hiding behind a tree, patted her chest and breathed a sigh of relief.
Although the people she meets in the mountains may not necessarily be bad people who will harm her, as the saying goes, it's always better to be safe than sorry, and it's never a bad thing to take precautions.
The human heart is the most unpredictable thing.
The line between angel and devil is often very thin.
If you can't be sure whether the person you meet is good or bad, it's best not to show yourself.
Just to be on the safe side, Lin Momo waited a little longer before peeking out from behind the tree to observe the situation. The yellow dog hadn't left yet; instead, it was coming towards her.
Only then did she realize that it was a half-grown yellow dog, judging from its size, it was not yet an adult. At that moment, it was sniffing around on the ground with its head down, as if it had discovered the traces of some kind of prey.
Lin Momo turned her gaze away from the dog and looked behind it, wondering if its owner would follow.
But still no one was found.
Her gaze returned to the dog, only to see it pick up a half-rotten fruit from the fallen leaves and eagerly begin to gnaw on it, leaving her somewhat dumbfounded.
