Chapter 39 Rejected for Keeping Snakes

Xiao Sibao laughed at him: "It's only a tiny one, and it even ran away. Second brother, how dare you say that? Shame on you."

Erbao, being thick-skinned, didn't seem to mind his sister's words and instead said nonchalantly, "It's okay if you didn't fish, as long as your older brother caught one."

Then, his expression suddenly changed, and he mysteriously pulled his other hand out from behind his back, saying, "Although I didn't catch any fish, I caught this."

A long, thin snake suddenly appeared, startling Shen Miao.

"What the hell?"

Erbao held the snake's head, letting its slender body coil around his wrist, and said happily, "It's a snake, Mommy! I want to keep it. It will be my pet from now on."

The word "pet" was mentioned by Shen Miao casually while she was telling them a story.

The kids remembered it and thought it was really cool to have a pet that belonged to them.

Shen Miao's face darkened. Although she wasn't afraid of snakes, having such a cold-blooded creature in the house still gave her a bit of a creepy feeling.

“No.” Shen Miao refused decisively.

She can tolerate them keeping cats and dogs, but absolutely not snakes!

That said, what strange hobbies does Erbao have? The snake is so cold and icy, yet this little baby isn't afraid at all.

"But Sibao also has wolf cubs, why can't I raise them?" Erbao muttered, not very happy.

Shen Miao rolled her eyes. How could this be the same? The little wolf cub was so cute, with its big, wet eyes and wobbly walk. Especially its white fur, which it inherited from its mother. It was incredibly good-looking, and you could pet it all day without getting tired of it.

What can this little snake do? It bites people.

Shen Miao glanced at it and realized it was a triangular-headed snake, a highly venomous one. Her face paled instantly. She took the snake from Erbao's hand, her voice trembling, "Erbao, were you bitten when you caught the snake?"

"No, it tried to bite me, but I grabbed its head and it couldn't turn around or bite me," Erbao said proudly.

Shen Miao took a deep breath, feeling like she needed oxygen; she was going to be driven crazy by these little brats sooner or later!

"Come here, all of you." Shen Miao called the children over; she was going to teach them a lesson today.

The babies all gathered around, tilting their little heads up, puzzled.

With a blank expression, Shen Miao said, "Snakes are divided into venomous and non-venomous ones. Most people can't tell the difference, so if we encounter a snake, we shouldn't provoke it. We should just stay far away."

Erbao was still somewhat unconvinced and wanted to refute, but Shenmiao wouldn't let him speak and continued, "For example, the one Erbao caught is poisonous. Its head is triangular and it's highly venomous. If you're bitten by this snake and don't get an antidote in time, you'll die in excruciating pain."

She deliberately spoke in a sinister tone, and even glanced at the children, who were indeed frightened.

Even Erbao's face turned pale, and he kept rubbing his hands together as if he wanted to rub something away.

Little Sibao said fearfully, "Second Brother, you shouldn't keep snakes anymore, they're too scary."

Da Bao and San Bao also tried to persuade them.

Erbao kept his head down and didn't say anything.

Shen Miao raised the snake in her hand and asked, "Erbao, are you still going to keep it?"

"No, I won't keep it anymore, Mommy, I never want to keep snakes again." Erbao almost frantically took a few steps back, moving several steps away from the snake in Shen Miao's hand.

Shen Miao gave a barely perceptible smile. "Alright, then Mother will throw it out."

Erbao nodded vigorously.

Shen Miao curled the corners of her lips, walked outside the wooden house, and with a flick of her wrist, threw the snake far away.

"Hey, Shen Miao, what did you throw out?" A voice suddenly rang out from outside.

Shen Miao looked over upon hearing the sound. She hadn't noticed before, but then realized that Lü Zhu was walking up the slope and had just witnessed her throwing the snake.

She ignored it, but Green Pearl noticed the snake that had been thrown away first. She quickly bent down to pick it up and scolded, "Chen Miao, this little snake is so pitiful, how could you just throw it away like that?"

Shen Miao felt that Green Pearl's head was probably full of tofu dregs. Even if that snake was covered with patterns and looked very beautiful, it was still a snake.

To say that snakes are pitiful is to be utterly brain-dead.

"If you feel sorry for it, then you should take good care of it. After all, I'm wicked, not as kind as you are," Shen Miao said coolly.

Green Pearl looked at the snake carefully and said with pity, "How pitiful, Shen Miao, how can you be so ignorant? This snake looks very valuable, it might be some rare species, and you could exchange it for a lot of things at the market. Shen Miao, you have such poor taste, just throwing away such a treasure like that."

She spoke with great conviction, and if Shen Miao hadn't known beforehand that it was a poisonous snake, she probably would have been fooled.

"Oh, since it's a treasure, you should keep it safe. I can't accept it." Shen Miao turned and went into the house, ignoring her.

Seeing her go inside like that, Green Pearl was also annoyed. She snorted, turned around and left, muttering to herself, "Fine, wait till I take this treasure to the market, exchange it for something, and I'll be so jealous of you."

I had barely finished speaking when a sharp pain shot through my finger.

Green Pearl looked down and saw that the precious snake she had been talking about had bitten her finger, and at the same time, her finger quickly turned blue.

Even if Green Pearl had no common sense, she would know that she had been poisoned.

Her face turned deathly pale, and she let out a bloodcurdling scream. Then, as if struck by a stroke, she frantically shook off the snake and ran like a madwoman towards Lin Shousheng's house.
