Chapter 85 Compensation for Chicken Little

"Shen Miao, Shen Miao, are you home?"

Green Pearl shouted loudly outside Shen Miao's house.

No one came out.

The kids hid behind the door and whispered, "Let's not go out yet. Let's see what she's up to. If she's causing trouble again, we'll go out and chase her away."

Erbao thought Dabao's arrangement was very reasonable and nodded in agreement: "Dabao, you're right."

"Chen Miao, Chen Miao, are you dead? I'm calling you so many times and you can't hear me. I've come to borrow something from you. Your house... Oh dear, where did this dead chick come from? It keeps crawling under my feet." As Green Pearl spoke, she became a little guilty. She glanced around and, seeing that no one was paying attention, simply stomped the half-dead chick to death.

Anyway, the little chicken just walked up to her feet on its own, it wasn't like she stepped on it on purpose, Green Pearl thought with a clear conscience.

"Oh no, she stepped on my chick and killed it!" Erbao shouted.

Sanbao chimed in, "I saw it too. It was too much. The little chick wasn't dead yet, but she stepped on it again and it never got up again."

Little Sibao said angrily, "Damn it, that vicious female beast!"

Da Bao, with a stern face, waved his little hand and said, "Let's go out and ask her for the chicks."

The little ones rushed out in a swarm.

Green Pearl trampled the chick to death and turned to run away, but the chicks suddenly appeared and shouted, "You vicious female beast, don't run away, pay me back for my chicks!"

“Little ones, don’t you dare call me that. Didn’t your female beast teach you that beasts should be polite? I’m your elder,” Green Pearl said disapprovingly.

Da Bao: "You're not our elder, you're a vicious female beast! You deliberately trampled my little chick to death, I hate you so much!"

"Hey, you ill-mannered brat, come here, or I'll pinch your mouth off." Green Pearl put her hands on her hips and started arguing with Da Bao.

Seeing this, Erbao immediately chimed in: "You vicious female beast, don't come to my house! Everyone in my family hates you. You'll never get any meat to eat, you'll fall into puddles when you walk, you'll get soaked in the rain, and you'll be as scorched as a dog when the sun shines."

Sanbao jumped up: "You annoying female beast, you're not welcome in our home, get out of here!"

"You can't leave. You can only leave after you've lost the chicks," Xiao Sibao quickly corrected.

"Yes, yes, compensate with chicks."

Green Pearl refused to pay compensation: "It was your own fault for not keeping a close eye on the chick, which escaped. I haven't even blamed it for scaring me yet."

Green Pearl wasn't afraid of these little cubs.

"Really? Then should my little chick apologize to you?" A sinister voice suddenly rang out from behind.

Green Pearl turned around and was startled to see Shen Miao carrying a blood-soaked wild goat on her shoulder, standing behind her with a chilling aura.

"Chen, Shen Miao, I came to borrow something from you. Don't listen to your brat's nonsense." Green Pearl retreated guiltily.

Shen Miao took a step closer: "Really? Then why are you returning it? Why are you returning it when you came to borrow something?"

Green Pearl was speechless.

Shen Miao's gaze fell on the dead chick beside her, and she laughed angrily: "You trampled it like this and you still say it was unintentional? My chick died with its eyes wide open and will probably come looking for you tonight."

"Don't talk nonsense!" Green Pearl screamed.

Shen Miao shrugged and held out her hand: "Two choices: either you give me a nearly dead chick, or you save it."

Green Pearl stared in disbelief: "The chicks are all dead, how am I supposed to bring them back to life?"

"Then you have to pay for it."

“I didn’t do it on purpose, why should I pay for it?” Green Pearl refused. “Besides, it’s just a little chick, why are you being so stingy?”

Shen Miao narrowed her eyes: "Are you going to compensate me or not?"

Green Pearl said matter-of-factly, "No compensation."

Shen Miao threw the wild goat to the ground. "You're not going to pay, are you? You want to get beaten up again."

"Chen Miao, you dare! Don't think I won't fight back. If you dare hit me, I dare hit you too!" Green Pearl bent down, picked up a stone, and threatened.

Upon seeing this, the children all cursed Green Pearl for being despicable.

Shen Miao remained unperturbed, calmly stating, "I can kill a wild goat, do you think I'd be afraid of your stone? You're more powerful than a wild goat?"

Green Pearl trembled. How could she be any stronger than a wild goat? She was just all bark and no bite.

"You, you, you, promise you won't hit me, then I'll put the stone down."

"Okay, I won't hit you."

Green Pearl was overjoyed, but the next moment, she heard Shen Miaohan say in a cold voice, "I will only throw you up the mountain, tie your hands and feet, and feed you to the wild beasts."

With a soft moan, Green Pearl dropped the stone to the ground.

"Do you want to pay compensation now?" Shen Miao glanced at her.

Green Pearl felt extremely wronged. She wiped her eyes and said pitifully, "Chen Miao, why are you so heartless? Your family doesn't need this little chick anymore. Why do you insist that I compensate you?"

Shen Miao felt that she could not communicate with this person.

If you destroy someone else's things, isn't it only right to return them? Why are you acting like you've caused them some great injustice?

She rolled her eyes, too lazy to waste words with her, and said only, "Go back now. I'll give you fifteen minutes. If you're late, you can go up the mountain and keep company with wild animals."

Green Pearl went back home wailing. She didn't have any chicks at home, so she could only offer an equal amount of meat in exchange.

Shen Miao accepted it without hesitation and sent the person away.

The children praised Shen Miao's abilities and idolized her beyond measure.

Before going to bed at night, Shen Miao tried to wash the children's feet, but they refused, saying it was too hot and their feet would hurt.

Shen Miao tested the water temperature with her hand, raised an eyebrow and said, "It's not hot, it's just lukewarm water."

The children still shook their heads.

Shen Miao found it strange, so she grabbed the little four babies who were closest to her and asked, "Why won't you wash your feet? Don't you want them to smell nice?"

"I want to," Xiao Sibao said sweetly, "but my feet will hurt."

Shen Miao looked down at her feet. Xiao Sibao's feet were small and chubby, and looked very cute.

However, the soles of my feet were covered in blisters, some of which had broken open, exposing the red flesh inside, which looked painful.

"How did you do that?"

Little Sibao said timidly, "I walked out of there."

After the weather cleared up, the kids ran outside every day. They didn't have shoes here, and their chubby feet couldn't withstand all that running around. It's no wonder they got blisters.

Shen Miao felt extremely distressed. "Let's wash your feet with cold water today. Are your feet like this too, brothers?"

“Yes, my brothers also got blisters, and they’re even worse than mine,” Xiao Sibao said.

Shen Miao looked through them one by one and regretted her carelessness.

She already knew that the orcs here didn't wear shoes, and she had thought about making some before, but she had forgotten about it because she was too busy. It seems that making shoes should be put on the agenda.

After washing their feet, the children obediently went to bed.

Shen Miao then took out animal hides and gestured as she made shoes for the children.

She no longer lacks animal hides; in fact, she has plenty and can use as many as she wants.
