An hour later, Xiang Wanwan was so tired that she could barely lift her eyelids.
Logically, Lu Jingnian should be the one putting in the effort, but he is currently getting dressed by the bedside, full of energy, preparing to cook.
But I can't get out of bed at all.
Lu Jingnian finished dressing, bent down to cover Xiang Wanwan with the blanket, and said softly, "Sleep a little longer, I'll wake you up in a bit."
Xiang Wanwan didn't even have the energy to answer, so she just rolled her eyes at him, turned over, and went to sleep.
After sleeping for another hour or so, Xiang Wanwan finally felt like she had recovered.
She stretched and then got out of bed to eat.
As she walked out of the bedroom and passed the study, Lu Jingnian was reading a book. Upon seeing her come out, he immediately put down his book and walked towards her.
He patted her head and said, "Are you hungry? Time to eat."
Lu Jingnian pulled her to sit down at the table.
Today's breakfast is egg pancakes, plus seafood porridge.
The seafood porridge was made by Lu Jingnian using blue crab meat. It was very fresh and sweet, and it was Xiang Wanwan's favorite.
She looked at the two bowls of porridge on the table and asked, "Haven't you eaten yet?"
"Wait for you."
Xiang Wanwan felt a little better. "At least you still have a conscience."
After finishing two bowls of seafood porridge and eating a pancake, Xiang Wanwan felt fully recharged.
He looked at Lu Jingnian and asked, "What are your plans for today?"
Lu Jingnian smiled at her and slowly said, "I'll leave everything to you."
"That's great! There's a lot of chores waiting for you at home."
"Let me tell you, the bed legs in the second bedroom are a bit flimsy. They were creaking when I first lay down last night. You need to fix them for me."
She had just finished speaking when she suddenly realized something was wrong.
Didn't she sleep in the second bedroom last night?
Why are you in the master bedroom this morning?
She looked at Lu Jingnian, "Did you sleepwalk again last night?"
"Didn't I sleep in the second bedroom?"
Lu Jingnian showed no sign of anything amiss, and continued to look at her with a warm smile.
“The bed leg in the second bedroom broke, and you fell off the bed, so I carried you to the master bedroom.”
"impossible."
The bed legs creak a little, but they're definitely not going to collapse!
She immediately got up and went into the second bedroom.
The bed, which originally had four legs, now only has two legs left, and it's tilted to one side.
She examined the broken leg more closely, and it didn't look like someone had deliberately sawed it off. Could it really have been broken by herself?
It seems that the bed that Aunt Wang gave her is quite old; it broke down before she even slept in it for very long.
She looked up and saw Lu Jingnian leaning against the door frame with his arms crossed.
"Lu Jingnian, hurry up and fix it!"
"I don't know how to fix it."
Xiang Wanwan remained silent.
The commander of a military region on an island can't even fix a bed leg; he's utterly useless.
She traded a whole bucket of seafood for this bed, and it's a real shame it's broken like this.
"Never mind, I'll find someone to fix it another day."
Lu Jingnian's eyes darkened, and he stopped speaking.
Xiang Wanwan got up and nudged the man at the door. "Come on, make me another fishing rod. The one from yesterday was taken by a fish."
For the entire morning, Lu Jingnian made her a fishing rod, while she tended her vegetable garden in the yard.
Lu Jingnian somehow got her some chive seeds. The potatoes had all been dug up, and now the empty space was perfect for planting them.
Chives have an amazing growth rate; once one crop is harvested, the next crop grows back very quickly.
Just plant a row of chives and you'll have an endless supply.
After planting the chives, she watered them with the water from the sacred spring.
Worried that Xiang Wanwan's fishing rod would be snatched away by fish again, Lu Jingnian made her two rods this time, using the best fishing line on the island.
