Chapter 16 It Feels Like the Sky Has Fallen (3/3)

Xiang Wanwan picked up a piece of meat with her chopsticks and put it in her mouth, her expression suddenly changing.

It tastes awful!

Why is this meat bitter?

Lu Jingnian found it amusing to see her face contorted in discomfort.

He put down his bowl and chopsticks and said, "If you can't eat, just throw up."

Upon hearing this, Xiang Wanwan felt as if she had been granted a pardon. She immediately rushed to the bathroom, spat out the meat in her mouth, and rinsed her mouth.

She returned to the table, stared at the two dishes, and dared not eat anymore.

"Is this how you cook in your cafeteria?"

Lu Jingnian nodded.

When he first arrived, he couldn't eat much, but over time he got used to it.

It was indeed unpalatable, but as long as it filled my stomach, that was fine.

Xiang Wanwan sighed.

What a poor child!

They're soldiers on the island, why aren't they provided with a decent cook?

They dared to feed such disgusting food to the officers.

Xiang Wanwan pressed down on Lu Jingnian's hand, "Wait a minute, I'll cook you a dish."

She immediately got up and went to the kitchen, where she found two eggs and two tomatoes among the vegetables Lu Jingnian had brought back.

After chopping the tomatoes and beating the eggs, she looked at the stove and was stumped again.

"Lu Jingnian, come in and help me start a fire."

The man in the living room immediately came in, sat down in front of the stove, and began skillfully starting a fire.

Xiang Wanwan was somewhat surprised.

I didn't expect him to be so capable in daily life!

Soon, Xiang Wanwan had cooked a plate of scrambled eggs with tomatoes.

When it was served, she picked up a piece with her chopsticks first.

Hmm, not bad! Looks like your skills haven't declined.

She looked at Lu Jingnian. Was the man hesitating to eat because he thought her cooking was bad?

Xiang Wanwan used her own chopsticks to pick up a piece for him and put it in his bowl.

"Give it a try?"

Lu Jingnian glanced at her, then picked up his chopsticks and put the food in his mouth.

His eyes suddenly lit up, then he calmly said, "Not bad! It's delicious."

Lu Jingnian never expected that she, a capitalist's daughter, would actually know how to cook.

And it tastes pretty good!

He put a piece of food into Xiang Wanwan's bowl as well, smiled at her, and said, "You eat too."

The two of them quickly finished the entire plate of scrambled eggs with tomatoes.

Lu Jingnian finished both dishes he brought back from the cafeteria to avoid wasting them.

Looking at the empty plate, Xiang Wanwan was shocked. Did Lu Jingnian have such a big appetite?

Is this amount of food enough for him to eat each month?

It seems that we need to put growing vegetables on the agenda as soon as possible.

She looked at Lu Jingnian and tentatively asked:

"Could you get me some vegetable seeds? I want to grow some vegetables in my yard."

Upon hearing this, Lu Jingnian was taken aback.

Growing vegetables?

Does she still know how to grow vegetables?

"Okay, I'll go ask at the logistics department."

Although Xiang Wanwan didn't get a direct answer, she was still quite happy that Lu Jingnian didn't reject her outright.

After finishing his meal, Lu Jingnian conscientiously washed the dishes and tidied up the kitchen before leaving for work. (This chapter has been read. Please click to continue reading the next chapter!)
