Wanqing fell silent after listening to Lu Jinan's words. She followed Lu Deming to this village in accordance with the country's arrangements, and now she regards this village as her home.
Life was not easy at the beginning, but she endured it. Later, when Bai An came, things at home gradually got better. This time, the villagers came to her home like bandits. How could she accept it?
When Wanqing was feeling sad, Lu Demin came back in a hurry pushing his bicycle.
Looking at the small wound on Lu Demin's face, Bai An frowned and asked, "Dad, what happened to the wound on your face? Did they beat you?"
"No." Even though his house was robbed, Lu Demin, like Wanqing, didn't care much. He smiled and said, "Someone pushed my bike away. I went over and rode it back right after he put it down."
"No, I rode too fast and fell."
Bai An saw some dust on his father's body and pouted sadly.
"Be careful." Wanqing patted the dust off Lu Deming's body and told him to go wash up first. It was time to go to bed today, otherwise he would not be able to get up to work tomorrow.
Bai An looked up at Lu Jinan, and Lu Jinan was looking at his room, neither happy nor sad, with an expressionless face that was a little confusing.
"Brother, aren't you angry?" Bai An asked curiously.
...
...
Lu Jinan looked at Bai An and laughed, "Angry?"
"Of course I'm angry when a bunch of strangers robbed my house right in front of me."
"I'm just thinking about something now, don't worry."
Think about things.
Bai An looked at Lu Jinan's expression and couldn't help feeling sad.
"School will start in a few days, Bai An, you should go." Lu Deming said to Bai An.
Bai An looked confused, "But after what they did to us today, do I really need to go to school? Will there be any problems if I go?"
Seeing this, Lu Jinan also looked at Lu Demin.
Lu Demin bent down and touched Bai An's head and said, "You should go. I just met the village chief and he emphasized to me that you need to go to school. Some people in the village have already started to react."
"So what if he reacts? I can teach Bai An to read at home." Lu Jinan looked into Lu Demin's eyes and said seriously, "Dad, you know that there is nothing you can teach in school now."
Lu Demin looked at Lu Jinan, shook his head, and said, "Jinan, you know why."
Looking at Lu Demin's gaze, Lu Jinan turned his head and looked away. He knew why.
It has been several days since the house was ransacked, and it seems that Aster has not been found during these days.
The villagers pretended nothing had happened and always came to Bai An's house to chat with her mother in a friendly manner.
My mother didn't want to damage the harmony among the neighbors because of that incident, so when faced with the arrival of others, she could only cooperate with them.
Lu Demin went to the village chief again to tell him about the missing things in their house, but before he found the village chief, he saw things that were supposed to be in his house in the village chief's house.
Lu Demin said nothing and turned back.
It seems like nothing has changed, and yet it seems like everything has changed.
Finally the day arrived for Bai An to go to school. Bai An carried his original small bag, which contained lunch and nothing else.
On the first day of school, Lu Jinan originally wanted to send Bai An off, but Bai An said that Da Zhuang would come to find her to go to school together.
Looking at the backs of Bai An and Da Zhuang walking side by side, Lu Jinan's face was cold.
"Da Zhuang, haven't you found Cui Ju yet?" Bai An asked Da Zhuang beside him.
Da Zhuang thought for a moment and said, "I don't know if they have found it. I asked my parents, but they told me not to get involved."
As he spoke, Da Zhuang scratched his head and turned to look at Bai An frequently. He wanted to say something but couldn't open his mouth.
"Da Zhuang, just say whatever you want to say." Bai An looked at Da Zhuang's expression and knew that he wanted to ask about the previous incident.
After a while, Da Zhuang said hesitantly, "Bai An, I heard that on the day Cui Ju disappeared, everyone in the village went to search your house."
"But I didn't know about this that day. My parents locked me up at home." Da Zhuang looked into Bai An's eyes and asked seriously, "Did you lose anything at home that day?"
Bai An glanced at Da Zhuang, and his originally non-smiling expression became even colder. He said softly, "No, nothing was lost."
How do you want me to answer? You should know what's new in your home. Do you want me to just say that your parents are thieves?
Bai An looked at Da Zhuang speechlessly.
"Really?" Da Zhuang stopped and looked at Bai An seriously, "Think about it again, is there anything missing from your house?"
Bai An didn't want to talk about this issue anymore, so he just kept silent and walked towards the school alone.
No matter how stupid Da Zhuang was, he knew why Bai An had this attitude.
He had no choice but to lower his head and follow Bai An with a guilty look on his face.
When he arrived at school, Bai An went to the teacher's office and asked which class he was in.
The teacher's face looked familiar. Bai An had seen them before that night. They were standing at the end of the line.
The teachers were surprised and embarrassed to see Bai An. They quickly led Bai An to the door of the classroom and said to Bai An, "Just find an empty seat and sit down."
The class was not very big, with just a few shabby tables and chairs. The students were of different ages, some as young as four or five years old, and some as old as thirteen or fourteen.
Each of them sat in his own seat, with bright eyes, dark red faces, dried snot stuck under the nose, and black objects at the corners of their mouths.
Bai An stood on the podium holding the corner of his clothes, and saw Da Zhuang sitting at the back. However, there was no seat next to Da Zhuang, only one in the middle.
They watched quietly as Bai An walked from the podium to that seat. When Bai An sat down, a little girl next to him whispered, "That's Aster's seat."
"It's okay, I want her to sit there." Just when Bai An was at a loss, a cold voice came from outside the door.
Lin Zhixia came out of the door carrying a military green messenger bag, glanced at Bai An who was sitting in the seat, and said with a smile: "Aren't seats for people to sit on?"
When others saw Cui Ju's brother coming over from other classes to help Bai An speak, some of them who were ready to make a move stopped moving in an instant.
Seeing that there was indeed no seat nearby, Lin Zhixia took a chair from outside and sat next to Bai An.
Da Zhuang, who was standing behind them, felt something was strange when he saw Lin Zhixia's actions, but he couldn't put his finger on it. He could only stare at them blankly from behind.
Bai An glanced coldly at Lin Zhixia beside him, then lowered his head and stared at the table in a daze.
"Hey, we are friends, right? Are you ignoring me?"
