You are nothing but a friend, how dare you say such things.
Bai An turned his head away, obviously not wanting to pay attention to him.
But Lin Zhixia continued to talk to Bai An relentlessly, and even started to take action later.
Before Lin Zhixia touched Bai An's shoulder, Bai An turned his head and said to him, "I don't want to talk to a thief."
Lin Zhixia's eyes were dark, and when she heard Bai An's words, her brows frowned slightly, but then relaxed again.
"I'm not a thief." Lin Zhixia leaned close to Bai An's ear and said in a voice that only the two of them could hear: "I didn't steal anything. On the contrary, I protected your room."
Bai An looked him straight in the eye and said word by word: "Then you'd better be able to say this when you are using our things."
Facing Bai An's hostility, Lin Zhixia just curled the corners of her mouth slightly, nodded, bent down, took out a few books from her bag and placed them on the table.
He smiled and said, "It may take some time for Aster to return it to you, so why not I return it to you first."
Bai An looked at the books on the table and said softly, "Why don't you all seem to be in a hurry about Cui Ju's disappearance?"
...
...
"Aren't you in a hurry too?" Lin Zhixia looked at Bai An with a smile.
Bai An looked at his indifferent expression and remained silent without saying anything.
They are not stupid and know why.
"When I go to work later, you stay with me." Lin Zhixia leaned lazily on the table, tapping her pale, strong hands on her knees, looking out the window.
"Why? I don't want to." Bai An imitated him and leaned on the table. He turned his head and looked at him and said, "I'll go with Da Zhuang later."
"Da Zhuang?" Lin Zhixia glanced at the boy who was looking at them from behind and chuckled, "If you want to be with him, then you better be careful."
"What do you mean?" Bai An thought he was threatening him after hearing his words, and continued to stare at the table in a daze without caring.
Lin Zhixia couldn't help but frowning when she saw Bai An showing no sense of crisis. She looked around and saw that most people's eyes were on her.
I don’t know how long it took, but the classroom became more and more noisy, and several times people tried to squeeze next to Bai An.
"hey-hey."
Bai An once again saw a boy come up to her and make faces at her.
Bai An looked at Lin Zhixia next to him with a puzzled look, "Have they always been like this?"
Lin Zhixia glanced at the little boys, frowned and said, "Maybe."
"What do you mean by maybe?" Just when Bai An wanted to ask a few more questions, the teacher walked in.
"All students, go to the playground and do some labor."
Before Bai An could figure out what the labor was, Lin Zhixia took Bai An's hand and followed the group out.
Children of different heights stood neatly in a line. Lin Zhixia took advantage of the opportunity to place Bai An in the middle and said, "Come to me if you have any problems."
Bai An was puzzled as he watched Lin Zhixia follow a teacher to the other side of the playground.
"Bai An, Bai An." Da Zhuang took advantage of the teacher's inattention and secretly came to Bai An's side. He leaned close to Bai An's ear and said, "The teacher will ask us to pull weeds later. Just follow me."
Bai An nodded and was about to say something when she noticed that all the children were staring at her.
Very weird.
Under their gaze, Bai An closed his mouth.
But when the teacher stood in front of them, called out the names of a few boys and asked them to go to the nearby woods to collect wood.
Among those boys was Da Zhuang.
Da Zhuang followed the teacher and turned around to wink at Bai An.
Bai An didn't understand what he meant, so he just nodded to Da Zhuang.
Not long after, another teacher came and asked the remaining children to go to the fields near the playground to pull weeds.
Bai An, who was alone, watched the children chattering and making a mess.
"Pull out the weeds in the field, and today's task is complete. You can go home now." The teacher pointed to the field and said, "Be careful not to pull out the seedlings."
"I know." The children said in unison.
After the teacher left, the children went in groups of three or four, leaving Bai An alone, looking at the fields at a loss.
"What are you doing?" A child walked up to Bai An and pointed at a blade of grass in Bai An's hand and asked in confusion, "Why did you pull out the seedlings?"
Bai An looked at the grass in his hand, then raised his head to look at the field below him.
It feels like they all look the same.
"I've never been to the fields." Bai An said in a low voice.
"You've never been to the fields?" The child was surprised when he heard Bai An say that. "You've never been to the fields?"
The children nearby were attracted by his shouting and were looking at them curiously.
Bai An nodded hesitantly.
"They are from the city, so of course they have never worked in the fields." The little boy who had just made faces at Bai An in the classroom ran over and said in an exaggerated manner, "My mother said that their family is a capitalist in the city."
"Capitalist!" Someone exclaimed.
Those kids looked at each other, and no one knew what was going on in each of their minds.
The kid who had just come over to talk to Bai An said angrily, "Don't talk nonsense."
"Yes, yes, this cannot be said casually."
"Yeah, he's not from the city, he's a capitalist. Goudan is so mean."
"Bai An looks very good, how could he be a capitalist?"
A group of children were there speaking up for Bai An.
Bai An also knew the seriousness of saying this, and quickly retorted: "My family is not a capitalist."
"How can you not be a capitalist? Your family is from the city and you have so many good things at home. If you are not a capitalist, then what are you?" Goudan said loudly.
His friends heard it and quickly pulled his arm and asked, "Goudan, is this true? She really has some good stuff at home."
Bai An was getting annoyed when he heard them talking. "How do you know there are good things in my house? I just happened to be missing a lot of things at home recently. You didn't steal them, did you?"
Goudan retorted: "My parents said so. My parents also said it was your family's fault that Cui Ju was lost."
Goudan and his group of people had always looked down on Cuiju's family background, thinking that people who hung out with Cuiju were no good. They also heard from Goudan that Bai An's family were capitalists in the city.
An unfounded emotion made them stand up. One of them pushed Bai An's arm and said, "Capitalists should be overthrown, and their things should be handed over to the state."
Bai An was pushed back by them and stumbled a few times. She finally managed to stand steady. Goudan came over and pushed her again, "Hey, why haven't you fallen yet?"
"You're pushing people around."
A few younger children couldn't bear to see this anymore, so they ran over and pushed and pulled Goudan and the others, telling them not to bully Bai An.
Goudan pushed them aside with disdain.
"What are you doing? What gives you the right to say that my family is capitalists and that it's our fault that Cui Ju was lost." Bai An climbed up and helped the children up, but in the process, he was pushed to the ground by Goudan.
The mud from the fields stuck to Bai An's clean clothes. Bai An grabbed a handful of mud from the ground and threw it at them.
Goudan brushed off the dust on his body, shook his head and said, "That's what everyone in the village says."
"Really?" Bai An looked at the boys in front of him and said loudly, "Then I would say that you are all thieves. Your parents came to our house to steal things under the pretext of looking for Cui Ju."
"Do you dare to say that you didn't see your parents that night, taking some good things home that you all saw?"
"You guys are all thieves."
