Chapter 36 Coaxing Him Back
Before there were too many disaster victims on the road, and before they dared to take advantage of the crowd to loot, the two quickly smoked a roe deer and three chickens. They filled a bag with the smoked meat and chicken. Liu Ye took the contents out of the basket, put the bag of meat into the basket, and put the rest of the items on the cart. The two then hurried on their way.
Liu Ye rode in the cart, while Bai Zilin pulled it. The two walked until noon before finding a quiet place to stop the cart and rest. After drinking some water, Liu Ye took out a piece of smoked meat from her bag and quietly handed it to Bai Zilin, who took it and secretly ate some as well.
Liu Ye secretly ate a chicken leg and then stopped. She took an apple out of the bag, broke it in half, and handed the other half to Bai Zilin: "Brother Bai, have an apple to quench your thirst."
Bai Zilin took the apple, took a bite, looked behind him, and immediately his face fell: "They're here!"
When Liu Ye heard who was coming, she turned around and looked back at the road she had come from. She saw Village Chief Zhao's oxcart leading the way, followed by a group of villagers from Shizigou. Good heavens, they were walking pretty fast and had already caught up with her!
“Brother Bai, let’s go quickly. You sit on the cart and I’ll pull you up so that the Bai family won’t see that your leg is healed and then it will stick to your body again.”
Bai Zilin leaned back against the tree and continued eating the apple in his hand: "We just rested for a while, let's rest a bit more before we continue."
Liu Ye leaned against the tree too. Well, if Brother Bai wasn't afraid, she wasn't afraid either.
Village Chief Zhao craned his neck to look and saw that sitting by the roadside were Bai Zilin and the Fool. These two were walking quite fast and had even gotten ahead of them again. He waved his hand and immediately shouted, "Everyone, stop and rest."
The Bai family and the Liu family quickly discovered Liu Ye and her group. The Liu family didn't want to talk to Liu Ye, fearing she would pester them for food. The three members of the Bai family, however, were shameless. They sat down to rest under a tree not far from Liu Ye and her group. Bai Wangshi looked at Bai Zilin with teary eyes, pressing her hand to her stomach, appearing to be in great pain.
Bai Zimei glanced at Bai Zilin, then looked at her mother with concern and asked loudly, "Mother, what's wrong? Is your stomach hurting from hunger? Let me rub it for you."
Madam Bai shook her head with a wry smile: "It's alright, I'm not hungry, I can hold on a bit..."
Bai Zilin finished eating the apple in his hand, threw it into the forest, and stood up from the ground, making the Bai family's eyes pop out. Before Bai Wangshi could recover from the shock, she was hit hard in the lower back. She looked at Bai Shuisheng with a blank expression: "Husband, Zilin's leg is healed, he's actually healed...!"
Bai Shuisheng gritted his teeth and whispered, "I saw it, you don't need to say anything. Can you smell the aroma of meat? It's the smell of smoked meat. That little beast must have gone hunting after his leg healed. You wretched woman, you better find a way to coax him back, or you can get the hell out of here!"

Bai Wangshi nodded, agreeing with Zimei's assessment: "I'll go right now."
Bai Wangshi stood up from the ground, clutching her stomach, and went straight to Bai Zilin. Bai Zilin snorted coldly, "Silly girl, get in the car, let's go."
Liu Ye quickly sat on the cart, and Bai Zilin pulled it and ran. He ran very fast, covering a great distance in the blink of an eye. Bai Wangshi became anxious when she saw this and jogged after him, calling out, "Zilin, don't go! Mother has something to tell you. Zilin, Zilin, don't go! Your leg is healed! Mother is so happy for you! Come back! I miss you! Come back! Let's go together...!"
As Bai Zilin pulled the cart away into the distance, Bai Wangshi, panting heavily, squatted down on the ground. After catching her breath, she stood up and looked at Bai Shuisheng with a wronged expression. It wasn't her fault; Zilin had just run too fast!
The villagers of Shizigou covered their mouths and whispered among themselves: "Hehehe, they deserve to be blind. Bai Zilin was such a good kid, and he actually kicked him out. Now that Bai Zilin's leg is healed, he can't benefit from it anymore."
Villager A from Shizigou: "Hehehe, isn't that right? You're absolutely right. That whole family of lazy good-for-nothings is supported by Bai Zilin. But as soon as he got injured, he kicked him out. What an ingrate! It's good that Bai Zilin didn't come back after his leg healed. If he came back, he would have to work for that lazy family again."
Hearing the laughter of the villagers around her, Bai Shui angrily gritted her teeth and shouted, "You stinking woman, get back here right now, you useless thing!"

And so, Village Chief Zhao led the villagers of Shizigou and followed closely behind Bai Zilin and his group. Bai Zilin ran for a long time, then slowly strolled away until the sun set, when he finally found a place where there weren't many people around to rest.
Liu Ye had just laid the bamboo mat on the ground when she looked up and saw a group of people walking towards her on the road. It was Village Chief Zhao and his group. She rolled her eyes in exasperation. Without a doubt, they were chasing after the two of them on purpose. What a bunch of bastards!
"Brother Bai, they're chasing us again!"
Bai Zilin pushed the cart towards the bamboo mat, pulled two machetes from his basket, and handed one to Liu Ye: "Take care of yourself, I'll deal with the Bai family!"
Liu Ye took the wood-chopping knife, nodded, and sat down on the bamboo mat. As soon as Village Chief Zhao saw Bai Zilin, he immediately told everyone to stop and rest. Village Chief Zhao gave Bai Shuisheng a wink, and Bai Shuisheng immediately led Bai Wangshi, looking ashamed, to Bai Zilin.
Following closely behind, Village Chief Zhao walked over with a smile: "Zilin, what a coincidence, we've run into each other again. You two kids shouldn't be traveling alone, it's too dangerous. From now on, you should come with us. With Uncle Zhao taking care of you, you won't have to be afraid of anything."
