Chapter 35 Hunting Prey on the Mountain
Liu Ye took the bamboo mat off the car, spread it on the neat grass, and sat down to rest. Her eyes, hidden by her hair, were fixed on Bai Zilin, who was tending the fire. Half an hour later, the two of them were enjoying the fragrant chicken stew with mushrooms. Each of them had a large bowl, and there was still a bowl left in the pot. Bai Zilin put the meaty parts of the chicken into Liu Ye's bowl, while he ate the tougher parts, such as chicken feet, chicken head, chicken butt, chicken ribs, and mushrooms. He ate them with great relish.
After finishing the chicken leg, Liu Ye ate the chicken wing, her eyes shining with delight. "Delicious! So fragrant! Meat is the best!" she exclaimed. She was so happy to finally have meat. She hoped that Brother Bai would hunt again tomorrow so she could have meat to eat again.
After finishing a chicken wing, she noticed there was still a chicken leg left in her bowl. She picked it up and put it in Bai Zilin's bowl, saying, "Brother Bai, why did you give me all the chicken legs? You should have one too, one for each of us."
Bai Zilin smiled and nodded, not refusing Liu Ye's offer. After finishing the miscellaneous food in his bowl, he ate the chicken leg as well. There was plenty of game from the mountain in front of them. He had just turned around after urinating when he heard a pheasant calling.
