Chapter 20: The Farce
Everyone left, and Aunt Jiang sat down on the stool exhausted: "Brother Yu, what's wrong with you?"
Although Aunt Jiang has a gentle personality, she has lived in Kyoto for so many years and has heard and seen a lot of things. Even if she didn't react at first, she has guessed some of it now.
Jiang Hongyu had no intention of hiding it from his mother. His face was cold and indifferent: "Lu Jingya lit incense outside my window, and I found a chance to escape. Later, Ye Yunkang came. I didn't expect that the two of them would do it right on my bed..."
Jiang Hongyu didn't finish his words. He didn't expect Lu Jingya to take out the wedding dress he bought, and now she destroyed it. He was full of anger.
"I watched Jingya grow up, but she, alas..." Aunt Jiang sighed, "It's probably not going to be easy for her to get married in her current situation."
These words were all polite. Lu Jingya was originally exiled, and it was the prime of her life. If she lost her reputation, anyone would probably come and step on her.
"This has nothing to do with us." Jiang Hongyu didn't want to bother with their affairs. "Mom, I've been sleeping on the floor in the main room these past few nights."
The thought of those two people rolling around in his bed made him so irritated that he wanted to kill someone.
"Ye Yunkang is Mingzhu's cousin. You will always have dealings with each other in the future." Aunt Jiang talked about the other party involved, and always felt that this matter would not end easily.
Jiang Hongyu knew that Ye Mingzhu had a bad relationship with the eldest branch of the Ye family. He had witnessed with his own eyes how Lin pushed Ye Mingzhu into the sea.
"Mom, I'm going to town tomorrow to see if I can buy some tiles to convert the house into a half-tile house. Don't go up the mountain to collect herbs tomorrow. Go visit Mingzhu's house instead."
Aunt Jiang glared at him and said, "Although your marriage to Mingzhu is settled, it's not normal for a mother-in-law to always visit her daughter-in-law's house. I'm going to talk to Mingzhu's third aunt tomorrow. We have to buy some new furniture when we build a new house. Try to pick something Mingzhu likes."
Jiang Hongyu finally smiled. The two of them talked about their future plans. Besides building the house, they also had to order furniture and buy bedding.
Outside the yard, Lu Jingya was holding her red wedding dress with a confused look on her face. Not only did she fail in her plan against Jiang Hongyu, she also ended up lying in the same bed with a man from the village. How was she going to live her life from now on?
Ye Yunkang had already left, but came back feeling resentful and walked forward to pull Lu Jingya over.
Lu Jingya struggled desperately, but was afraid of being seen by others, so Ye Yunkang dragged her to a dilapidated house nearby.
"Were you plotting against me today?" Ye Yunkang looked Lu Jingya up and down, and thought of the white he had just seen. He felt very unfair. He didn't get to eat anything, but he was going to lose six taels of silver. Now marrying a girl from a poor family would not even cost six taels.
Lu Jingya paused in her struggle, tears streaming down her face. She looked up at Ye Yunkang and said, "Why would I plot against you? How would I know you would go to the Jiang family? I just had a stomachache, so I lay down for a while at the Jiang family."
Ye Yunkang is no fool. Lu Jingya's look at Jiang Hongyu just now was obviously wrong: "You are not plotting against me, are you plotting against Jiang Hongyu?"
Lu Jingya cried even louder: "I didn't, I didn't."
Ye Yunkang was startled and quickly covered her mouth: "Keep your voice down."
Lu Jingya was unwilling and struggled hard. Ye Yunkang felt the softness of her mouth and became bolder. He hugged her and kissed her.
Ye Yunkang's hand also reached under her clothes, scaring Lu Jingya so much that she didn't dare to move.
In the end, Lu Jingya kept begging for mercy, and the broken house was too dirty, so Ye Yunkang stopped. He hugged Lu Jingya tightly, letting Lu Jingya feel his burning heat.
"You, don't do this." Lu Jingya was terrified. She was really afraid that Ye Yunkang would act impulsively here...
"Not here, it's not convenient here." Ye Yunkang deliberately moved his lower body, and after hearing Lu Jingya's exclamation, he said: "Find a place another day."
Lu Jingya wanted to disappear from here immediately, but she was afraid that Ye Yunkang would act impulsively, so she could only force a smile: "Didn't you say you were engaged? We can't do this..."
Ye Yunkang thought of his cousin's dark face and touched Lu Jingya's face again: "We are all like this, can you still find someone else? Hmm?"
When Lu Jingya heard that he meant that he didn't want to marry her, but also didn't want her to find someone else, she was very angry, but she could only coax him to let her go first.
The two of them struggled for another quarter of an hour before Ye Yunkang let Lu Jingya go.
Lu Jingya's face flushed, and she walked home quickly with her head down. However, not far from the door, she was stopped by Aunt Qing: "Jingya, when will you give me the steamed buns you promised me?"
Lu Jingya looked up, with sparks of anger flashing in her eyes: “Aunt Qing, if it weren’t for you, how could I… How dare you ask for steamed buns?”
Aunt Qing was an experienced person. Seeing the blush on Lu Jingya's face, she spoke without any politeness: "It's not me who made you lose your virginity. You didn't look like this just now. Who knows where you went to fool around with others? Anyway, you must give me the steamed buns you promised me."
At this point, Aunt Qing looked Lu Jingya up and down and said, "Otherwise, if I get hungry one day, I won't be able to control my mouth."
There was humiliation in Lu Jingya's eyes, but she didn't dare to push Aunt Qing into a corner, so she could only promise to give it to her in a few days.
Aunt Qing was not afraid that she would not give it to her, but if Lu Jingya's appearance were to get out, she would really not be able to get married.
Lu Jingya watched Aunt Qing walk away, rushed home in one breath, threw the wedding dress in her hand on the bed, covered her face with her hands, and began to cry softly.
She had to give six taels of silver to the Jiang family and make steamed buns for Aunt Qing, but she only had a little over one tael of private money, which was not enough.
Lu Jingya felt angry when she saw the wedding dress on the bed. She reached out to tear it into pieces, but she was reluctant to do so. The material of the wedding dress was good and the embroidery was also good. Even if it was a little wrinkled, it was better than an ordinary wedding dress.
Thinking that the dress was worth twelve taels, Lu Jingya slowly spread it out. There were no buttons on the dress, but everything else was fine.
Lu Jingya folded the clothes, thinking that she would go to the town to buy some scraps of fabric to make the buttons for the clothes, and then sell the clothes to return the six taels to the Jiang family, and maybe even keep some.
But as for Aunt Qing and Ye Yunkang, we still have to find a way to cover it up.
Lu Jingya pursed her lips tightly. If there was really no other way, she could only marry Ye Yunkang. Otherwise, she was afraid that she would not be able to marry into a good family.
Ye Yunkang had been following Lu Jingya and heard her conversation with Aunt Qing. A wicked smile appeared on the corner of his mouth.
Lu Jingya really wanted to plot against Jiang Hongyu, but she didn't expect him to take advantage of her.
Anyway, the Lu family was exiled, so it didn't matter if it was just for fun. He was not like his cousin, who was stupid enough to marry an exiled man who had nothing good except his good looks.
Not knowing where the Jiang family got the money to build the house, Ye Yunkang planned to go to Ye Mingzhu's house to find out.
