Chapter 203 The Two Meet
The next morning, Aunt Mo changed into a very clean and tidy dress and combed her hair meticulously. She looked very different from usual.
When Ruan Linlin saw it, her eyes were filled with amazement: "Auntie Mo, you look very different when you dress like this, like, like..."
Ruan Linlin racked her brains and finally said one word: "A wealthy family."
Aunt Mo smiled calmly: "Today I am accompanying my boss to look at the shops in the county town. Since I am a pastry maker, I naturally have to dress neatly."
Ye Mingzhu nodded: "Auntie Mo is right, let's have dinner and leave early after dinner."
Ruan Linlin didn't think much about it, she just asked Aunt Mo if she had eaten. Aunt Mo smiled and said that she had eaten and she would go outside to wait.
Ye Mingzhu noticed that Aunt Mo's hands were clenched at her side. She pulled Ruan Linlin and said, "Sister Linlin, let's go eat first. After dinner, I'll take Aunt Mo to the county town to have a look."
After dinner, Ye Mingzhu took Aunt Mo to ride in a ox cart. Wu Jiang only asked where they were going and didn't say anything else.
After Wu Jiang sent the two to the county town, he waited at the city gate. Aunt Mo and Ye Mingzhu walked in alone.
Aunt Mo walked very fast, feeling a little homesick. Ye Mingzhu did not urge her, but just walked slowly beside her.
However, there was only one road to the county government office, so no matter how slowly the two of them walked, they still arrived quickly.
The doorman today was the same one from yesterday. When he saw Ye Mingzhu, he didn't even bother to ask for her name. He just smiled and said, "Are you here to see Master Yan? I'll go get him for you."
Ye Mingzhu thanked him with a smile and took out a piece of silver, about a little over a penny, from his sleeve and handed it to the doorman. The doorman quickly stuffed the silver into his sleeve, asked the two to sit inside, and asked another doorman to keep an eye on them while he went inside to call for help.
Uncle Yan didn't come. It was Jiang Hongyu who came. When he saw Ye Mingzhu and Aunt Mo, he smiled and said, "You just went back yesterday, why are you here today?"
Ye Mingzhu handed the food she brought to Jiang Hongyu: "These are the buns and pies that Aunt Mo made this morning. You and Uncle Yan can eat them together."
Jiang Hongyu took the food box and took a breath. "It smells delicious. Aunt Mo's cooking skills are really good."
He then looked at Ye Mingzhu with an inquiring look, "Mingzhu, do you and Aunt Mo want to sit inside for a while? Uncle Yan is busy right now and it will take a while for him to finish."
Ye Mingzhu looked at the nervous nanny beside her and smiled: "Then let's go and take a look. I just happen to have something to discuss with you."
Jiang Hongyu guessed that something was wrong with them, and when he saw Ye Mingzhu bringing Aunt Mo with her, he thought it was something about the dim sum shop, so he calmly took them to the guest room where he was staying.
The three of them walked into the room. Before Ye Mingzhu had time to look around the room, Aunt Mo fell to her knees with a thump, which scared Ye Mingzhu.
Jiang Hongyu reacted quickly and helped her up immediately.
Aunt Mo was about to kneel, but Ye Mingzhu spoke up in time: "Nanny, if you have something to say, just say it directly, don't kneel here and there."
Jiang Hongyu's hand was still holding Aunt Mo's arm. He froze in place: "Nurse?"
Aunt Mo's tears flowed, and her lips trembled. Ye Mingzhu sighed and said to Jiang Hongyu, "I'll go sit outside for a while. You talk to the nanny."
Ye Mingzhu walked out, closed the door, sat in the corridor, and stared at a tree in the yard in a daze.
"Mingzhu? Are you sitting outside?" After an unknown amount of time, Uncle Yan walked out from the side and asked in surprise.
Ye Mingzhu came back to her senses and stood up: "Uncle Yan, I'll bring the nanny to find Brother Yu."
Uncle Yan glanced at the closed door and heard faint crying sounds coming from the room.
"Mingzhu, how about we go sit on the stone table over there for a while." Uncle Yan said, pointing to the stone table not far away.
Ye Mingzhu stood up and followed Uncle Yan to sit over there.
Not long after the two of them sat down, a servant came over with a teapot and two teacups. Uncle Yan poured a cup of tea for Ye Mingzhu: "You came from the farm so early this morning, so drink some water first."
Ye Mingzhu took the teacup, thanked him, and suddenly asked, "Uncle Yan, what kind of person is Brother Yu's wet nurse?"
Uncle Yan took a sip of tea and thought for a moment: "It seems to have been selected from Zhuangzi. I don't have much impression of it."
Ye Mingzhu nodded and didn't ask any more questions. After all, so many years had passed, it was normal that Uncle Yan didn't remember.
"Where did you find Brother Yu's wet nurse?"
Ye Mingzhu smiled bitterly: "Brother Yu found it himself, but the two of them didn't recognize it back then."
As for how she recognized him this time, Ye Mingzhu didn't say anything. She really didn't know how to explain it.
Uncle Yan nodded and didn't ask any more questions. He only asked if Ye Mingzhu needed help with her dim sum shop. He had been living in the county government office and could go over to help out when he was free.
Ye Mingzhu was delighted: "Uncle Yan, are you free? Is it not very good?"
Uncle Yan looked at Ye Mingzhu, who was about to agree but was embarrassed, and smiled: "I don't stay in the county government office every day. I can go out for a walk occasionally."
"You can tell me how you want to clean up the shop, and I can go and see it every day."
Ye Mingzhu was very happy. With Uncle Yan's help, the workers would not be lazy and the dim sum shop would definitely open earlier.
"How about I get you some paper and you draw me a picture of what's going on in the shop." Uncle Yan got Ye Mingzhu's consent and went outside to get a brush and white paper.
Ye Mingzhu was not very good at using a brush, so she dictated and Uncle Yan started to draw a floor plan of the dim sum shop.
After receiving the finished drawing, Ye Mingzhu was amazed: "Uncle Yan, your painting skills are really good."
"I learned some from a friend when I was young." There was some nostalgia in Uncle Yan's eyes.
Uncle Yan’s painting skills are so strong that he can draw interior design drawings with a brush. This is not something that can be achieved by just learning a little. She suddenly had a feeling that the friend Uncle Yan was talking about was Aunt Jiang.
She remembered Jiang Hongyu saying that Aunt Jiang used to go to the mountains to paint often.
"Uncle Yan, Mingzhu, why are you sitting here?" Jiang Hongyu opened the door, looked around, saw the two of them, and walked over quickly.
"Brother Yu, this is a picture drawn by Uncle Yan. What do you think of it?" Ye Mingzhu showed the picture in her hand to Jiang Hongyu. Jiang Hongyu took the picture and was also surprised.
"Uncle Yan, I didn't expect you to be so good at painting?"
It was the first time he saw Uncle Yan paint.
Uncle Yan nodded and said, "I haven't painted for many years, so I'm a little rusty. You guys continue chatting, I'll go walk around the back."
Several people watched Uncle Yan leave. Ye Mingzhu handed the blueprint in her hand to Aunt Mo: "Nanny, is it okay for the snack shop in the county town to be renovated according to this blueprint?"
Aunt Mo took the picture and murmured, "Master Yan's drawings are still so good."
