Chapter 5 Waiting for the Rabbit

"I learned it from my sister-in-law," Yunling said with a grin.

Looking at her completely unashamed appearance, Liu Yun thought, "Her skin is thicker than a city wall. No wonder she was able to marry the third son."

Zhang Guihua glared at her and said fiercely, "Alright, you're all talk and no action. You can't even shut up while eating. Either shut up or stop eating."

Liu Yun immediately deflated. He was so biased, always protecting the third son's wife, even though she was the eldest daughter-in-law and had given birth to a precious child.

She felt like crying inside, extremely wronged.

However, no one paid attention. The women took the bowls and chopsticks into the kitchen. Yunling asked about the cooking. Breakfast was cooked in shifts, and the dishes were washed in shifts every day. She was the fifth in line.

Today it's my mother-in-law, next it's Qin Tiantian, and my two sisters-in-law. Tomorrow I'll get up early and learn how to make breakfast.

After dinner, the family went to work. Yunling was assigned to chop pig feed, and the team members had no objections, since it was common knowledge that Yunling had fainted several times.

Fainting costs money, so it's better to do something easier.

Yunxi Brigade raised five pigs. The work of cutting pig feed was usually assigned to the children in the brigade who had not yet grown up or to older people who were not nimble on their feet, and they earned a little work points for each person.

Zhang Guihua led Yunling to the pig farm at the foot of the mountain, followed by Qin Tao and Qin Yan, two little girls, one eight years old and the other seven. They were on holiday, but they still had to work. Since working in the fields was tiring, they went to cut pig feed. They could earn two or three work points a day, which they treated like play and didn't get tired.

The person in charge of the pig farm was Grandpa Liu, who was all smiles and looked very kind. He took Yunling on a tour. In the middle of summer, the smell was very strong and stinky. She couldn't help but pinch her nose.

Seeing this, Grandpa Liu wasn't angry. Instead, he smiled and said, "You'll get used to it."

After walking around, I saw Aunt Zhou, who had already set off with her basket on her back.

Grandpa Liu gave her a large basket, while the two little girls received smaller baskets. Each girl only needed to collect four baskets of pig feed per day.

One work point for each basket carried on one's back.

Qin Tao and Qin Yan led Yun Ling to the place where they were gathering pig feed. It was at the foot of the mountain, where the grass and trees were lush and the scenery was excellent.

Qin Tao, in a clear and crisp voice, explained to Yun Ling which types of grass pigs could eat and which types they couldn't.

Qin Yan kept her head down and worked diligently.

Once the first basket was full, Yunling thought she could finally rest for a while, but then she saw two little girls carrying baskets back home.

Yunling rubbed her aching lower back and pleaded, "Xiaotao, Xiaoyan, shall we rest for a while?"

Qin Tao said "okay" in a sweet voice.

Qin Yan snorted and muttered, "An adult is not as good as us kids."

"You guys are really amazing! Auntie will reward you with a candy." Yunling said with a smile.

Qin Yan's eyes lit up, and she stared straight at her.

Yunling took out three fruit candies, one for each of them. She had found them in her pocket this morning when she was looking for clothes and just put them in her pocket.

Qin Yan took the candy, clutched it tightly, and said loudly, "I won't eat it for free. I'll help you gather pig feed this afternoon. I'm very fast."

Yunling pinched her little cheek and said, "Okay, then Third Aunt will wait."

Qin Tao immediately added, "Third Aunt, I'll help you too."

After the three finished eating the candy and rested for a while, they returned to the pig farm, put down the pig feed, and went to gather a second basket of pig feed. This time, the two little girls helped her gather the pig feed very actively.

I finished my work for the morning quickly and was ready to go home.

"Third Aunt, are there wild strawberries?" Qin Tao tugged at Yun Ling's sleeve and asked.

Yunling glanced at the bright red wild strawberries dotting the lush green grass. She often saw these wild strawberries in some wastelands before, and usually no one picked them.

The children here cherish them like treasures.

Qin Yan ran very fast, picked a large leaf and squatted down to pick more, popping one into her mouth every now and then. It was sweet and quite a large leaf. Qin Tao also squatted down to pick some.

The grass wasn't tall, but just in case, Yunling, fearing there might be snakes, tapped around with a stick.

"Third Aunt, what are you doing?" Qin Tao asked curiously, her big, dark eyes wide open.

"Let me see if there are any snakes?"

Qin Yan's eyes lit up instantly. "If there are snakes, we can eat meat!"

"Third Aunt, are you afraid of snakes?" Qin Tao asked considerately.

Yunling nodded: "I'm most afraid of snakes and cockroaches."

"What is a cockroach?" Qin Yan asked curiously.

Yunling frowned: "It's a big black bug that can fly. It's really disgusting, but we don't think we have any here."

Qin Yan said "Oh," and then added, "I still hope that next time I go out with Grandpa, if I see a snake, I can eat meat."

The two children continued to squat down and pick strawberries.

Yunling looked around and said, "Then you guys pick wild strawberries here, and Third Aunt will go for a walk around."

Qin Tao waved her hand and said, "Third Aunt, don't go too far."

"I understand," Yunling said cheerfully.

She climbed a small hill and looked around. All she saw were wild grasses. Suddenly, a rabbit pounced and crashed into a tree, falling to her feet.

Yunling was overjoyed. Could it be that her luck had turned around and she was a lucky koi fish?

Why not give it a try?

Seeing the motionless rabbit, she walked under other trees, startling a flock of birds.

Only the leaves fall.

I felt a little disappointed suddenly.

However, she had a cheat code, so Yunling was immediately satisfied, and her previous disappointment vanished.

I picked up the rabbit from the ground; it was bleeding profusely, and there was a small hole in its stomach. I don't know who shot the rabbit and it escaped; she got lucky. Thank you, kind person.
