Chapter 317: The Hand That Turns the World Upside Down

Chu Ci said he was not hungry and didn't want to eat.

First, Wang Jianan went to call, and then Chu Hongtian went upstairs to invite him. Chu Ci frowned slightly no matter who asked. Everyone who went upstairs was shocked by the mess in the room.

But no matter how you ask, Chu Ci won't say anything.

He didn't even give his uncle, the general, any face. He draped a white towel over his shoulders, took off his clothes as he walked towards the bathroom, throwing his clothes aside, looking like he was annoyed by everyone.

This caused Chu Hongtian to sit at the dinner table with a stern face.

I thought of my ignorant daughter who lay in the room and refused to eat, I thought of Chu Ci who was disobedient upstairs, and then I thought of my son who didn't even call home during the Chinese New Year.

Chu Hongtian only smiled slightly to his grandson Wang Xintong, and never smiled again.

A bunch of unfilial people.

He spoke in a low voice. No one else at the table was outgoing. Wang Jianan silently raised his glass to drink with his father-in-law. The atmosphere at the dinner table was not very good.

After finishing more than ten dumplings, Old Mrs. Chu poured the remaining soy sauce, vinegar, garlic sauce, etc. in her bowl into Chu Hongtian's bowl. She stood up silently, leaned on her crutches, and went straight to the kitchen without saying a word to anyone.

When the old lady was not looking, Liang Yinqiu snatched Chu Hongtian's bowl and planned to pour it all out.

What kind of life is this? She even lets her husband, Lao Chu, eat the leftover garlic sauce. Isn't that dirty?

She had made up her mind. She used to talk about it all day long, which made her and the old lady always angry. Now she would stop talking about the old lady and just follow her lead.

Seeing the old lady go to the kitchen, Chu Hongtian was worried and quickly winked at Liang Yinqiu, indicating that she should follow.

Liang Yinqiu was still holding a bowl of garlic sauce in her hand, and she followed the old lady quietly to observe.

Seeing the old lady flipping four eggs into a bowl in the kitchen, Liang Yinqiu sighed and said:

"You said you wanted dumplings, so I made them right away. But there were so many, you took a couple of bites and put them down. Now you're thinking about egg porridge. Leave them there, I'll make them for you later. Go inside and have two more dumplings, okay?"

Old Mrs. Chu turned her back and curled her lips. "The dumplings aren't stuffed with sauerkraut. If you can't even pickle sauerkraut, what's the point of you? You're trying to fool me with this broken beef and radish."

The old lady finished cursing in her heart, then looked at the bowl in a daze.

Did you add salt just now? Oh, never mind, just add a little less salt.

"I'm asking you a question. Can we eat later? Wait for me to eat, and then I'll make you some steamed egg custard."

"Don't worry about me. I did it for Xiaoci."

Hearing this, Liang Yinqiu felt uncomfortable instantly.

You said Yiqing hadn't eaten either, and the two children hadn't eaten either. You were already trembling, but you still had to cook for Xiaoci, but you forgot that there was an older granddaughter lying in the room. Aren't you too partial to one over the other?

Liang Yinqiu thought of how her eldest daughter had never been favored by her grandmother since she was a child. The old lady always spoiled boys, which made her even more angry.

He threw Chu Hongtian's bowl of garlic sauce into the sink, and the crisp sound attracted the old lady's attention.

Liang Yinqiu opened the cupboard and took out a new bowl. As if deliberately trying to irritate the old lady, he said in a low voice:

"Don't let Xiaofeng's dad pick up leftovers in the future. We don't have that habit at home. You have to be careful when feeding Tongtong too. Giving food you've already eaten to others can easily cause cross-infection of bacteria. You're old and there are more bacteria around."

When Liang Yinqiu said this, his eyes were looking elsewhere. After he finished speaking, he took the new bowl and left the kitchen.

But the old lady kept turning her head to look at her, her finger joints protruding, holding the operating table as a crutch.

When Liang Yinqiu lifted the door curtain and walked out, she pursed the corners of her lips, which were full of lip wrinkles, and lowered her head. There was a complex emotion in her eyes, including anger, resentment, and helplessness.

The old lady finally shook her head and didn't have the energy to argue anymore. She stared at the box of salt for a few seconds, then pinched a small amount and put it in the egg bowl.

Chu Hongtian looked at his mother and asked her what she was doing.

"Oh, she's making some egg custard. She said it's for Xiaoci. I'll go check it out after I finish eating.

It's okay, you don't have to worry about her eating less. If she doesn't want to eat, then don't eat. If she's hungry again later, I'll peel an apple for her and bring it upstairs.

There is milk powder upstairs, so you can drink it whenever you are hungry."

Liang Yinqiu's attitude was gentle. After thinking for a while, he explained:

"It's not that she's been hungry, but she's been hungry lately. I asked Lao Xiao, who's been a Chinese medicine practitioner for many years, and she said it's not good for older people to eat too much. It's best to eat liquid food at night to avoid indigestion and getting angry. Many diseases are caused by getting angry."

Chu Hongtian glanced at his wife, picked up a handful of shredded cabbage and placed it in Liang Yinqiu's bowl, and whispered:

"Every family takes care of the elderly like this. Old and young, if they are thirsty, hungry, or cold, they need someone to look after them. You can only work harder."

This was considered as an affirmation to his wife, and he was very satisfied with Liang Yinqiu's recent treatment of his mother.

Chu Yiqing lay down in her mother's room. After being scolded by her father, she didn't even eat.

He was lying sideways with his head resting on his arm. He looked as if he was thinking about something, and a smile suddenly appeared on his lips.

Wang Haiyang, he is still the same.

He actually remembered what she liked and disliked to eat, and he immediately told the chef not to put ginger and garlic in the dishes.

He talked about the difficulties he faced when he was sent to the countryside to work and told me about his current life situation.

Sitting opposite her, he was still so calm and at ease, talking freely.

The hardships of life did not make a proud man become listless.

The unfairness of life did not make an ambitious man complain.
